Coombe Lodge Beefeater

Went today and my dinner was amazing, slight issue with my other halfs meal, but they just didn't charge him which was a lovely gesture. I would go again and again!!

We held my dads wake here after his funeral. It was expensive but worth every penny the buffet was lovely and constantly being brought out the staff was fantastic nothing was to much trouble .

Many thanks to the staff at Coombe lodge today who couldn't have done enough for us when a member of our family became unwell.

Lovely 80th Birthday Celebrations, our waitress Sheila did an excellent job. The food was tasty and was fresh and hot when it brought to the table. Definitely would not hesitate to have another birthday party here. �

Just had breakfast there for the first time well cooked and presented ,better in fact than a certain hotel I stopped in earlier this year in New Zealand , Well done ,very pleasant staff .

Cannot thank Nicola enough for how hard she worked to make our family get together so good. There were 30 of us and nothing was too much. Food was great and couldn’t fault anything at all.

Always a great place to come and share a pre Christmas meal with friends and family. Food is always very good value and well cooked. Service is also excellent. Can't find any fault.

Mother’s Day lunch was a set menu £16.99 for 2 courses and £19.99 for 3.

I had the breaded mushrooms to start and the vegetarian lasagne for main (served with chips and flat bread). Both very nice. My kids had the calamari to start and the steak and roast chicken for main. These were also very good.

There seems to be some sort of work being done to the building but this didn’t effect the restaurant or bar area. The service was excellent, friendly and quick but we didn’t feel rushed.

Would definitely go back again.

Food was ok . The bar staff seem to be a bit inexperienced took them awhile to make the cocktails and bring them to a table where we were eating. The waiter at own table was very good.

this is probably the last time I shall go to this Beefeater as the excellent service was completely let down by the abysmal food, which has previously been enjoyable. The koftas were not lamb and mint as ordered, I cancelled the Greek salad as I am allergic to peppers and chilli, but after one mouthful there was obviously chilli in the kofta so I did not eat the starter. The haddock was grey and dry as if it had been reheated and chips were soft and greasy. All in all it was a bad experience but the waitress was cheerful, friendly and quick. She offered to replace the fish but I had to leave so she took the meal off the bill. Because of my allergy i was ill soon after leaving the restaurant but managed to drive home and was ill for 12 hours while the allergic reaction abated.

It’s all about cost, the prices have gone up but the quality and portion size has gone down. The place is always packed so there is no excuse. It started with the BBQ sauce changing it became very vinegary and not so nice. Then the coleslaw changed and became smaller. The chip portion has certainly shrunk. If they carry on like this I can see people will go elsewhere and that would be a shame. Come on sort yourself out and stop being so greedy!

Hardly any chips with my meal. It was very dark in the seating area & really cold. I visit beefeater in Gloucester & it's not a bit like coombe lodge. This was my birthday meal� I would go back but can't waste my money on an experience that may not be good. Had to get my drink changed as it was horrible!! The staff were pleasant enough though.

Took friends for dinner whilst on holiday from Oz, one guest required gluten free option, we were handed a huge folder with hundreds of pages and the smallest print ever !!!!! Waitress very nice but no help whatsoever, we almost gave up and left, but settled on a plain salad and chicken, no real gluten free choices or information. Surely menus could be marked with gluten free choices. Generally lighting poor, especially entrance hall which is really dark. Probably won't return.

Service was good and staff were helpful but the food was awful. Steak was so undercooked you couldn't cut it and also my friends steak was unedible so had it exchanged and the replacement was awful also. The waitress dropped my salad on the floor and apologised and walked off. The coleslaw on all of our meals had hardly any mayo on it and was unpleasant. Hardly any chips on a friends plate. I've eaten in 4 separate beefeaters now and all are disappointing. I wont be visiting one ever again.

Food was very average. Service pretty good, though not overly fast. We had a large table and the deserts didn't come together - 5mins gap between some of them. To be fair, the staff did provide a discount at the end as recompense.

After having an enjoyable meal we finally left the restaurant 45 minutes later. We tried several times to get our waitresses attention to get our Bill. After 30 minutes this was finally done then after another 15 minutes we took the bill to the till to pay as we had had enough waiting around. Poor end to the evening. No excuses as the restaurant was not that busy.

Very poor service overall. Plates came out red hot and that included the children's plates. The waiter then decided to remove all the forks from the table so we had to wait for him to come back to get another. No offers of further drinks or puddings. Very very poor service. Place was dirty and table we sat at had holes in the wall either side of the table and the walls were filthy. Overall very disappointed for the service we received and the place in general

Every empty table still has previous people's empty glasses and plates still sitting on it. Including the one we've been sat at for an hour! As well as waiting almost 15mins at the bar to get a drink!
