So next week is looking just as busy as last week - two more cars with the infamous N47 timing chain wear in for new chains.
After a frantic week that included N46 valve stem seal replacement, two timing chain replacements ( F10 520d and E87 120i N43), a quiet finish with a brake fluid service to this immaculate Alpina B3 S convertible.
This lovely rare Alpina edition 50 in for some preventive corrosion protection in preparation for winter. The gold wax preservative applied avoids costly repairs due to corrosion later in a cars life. It also looks good when applied too.
This very rare 6speed SMG 330ci came in this morning for a gear selection fault. Having been taken to other garages prior and no solution found, we were expecting a tricky job. Fortunately, after a complete transmission adaption procedure , the car now shifts all gears properly. Unlike the earlier, more common 5 speed Marelli SSG, this one seems to be more straightforward to sort!
We at CPC are firmly of the opinion that maintenance- free transmissions are a myth. The pictures of this wrecked 8 speed BMW automatic transmission , which in its 180000 miles has never been serviced and according to BMW doesn’t need servicing!
Here is a teaser for all BMW E30 experts. What is wrong with the following two images from the same car?
Recent biblical amounts of rainfall caused water damage to the boot floor area of this highly specced BMW 535d. Hopefully we can resurrect most of this without expensive replacement. In autumn try to make sure sunroof drain pipes are kept clear. It is a fairly simple and inexpensive job, and could save a lot of time and expense.
With all the wet weather at the moment, this 330ci Clubsport had a lucky escape. The sunroof cables jammed and broke the roof casette whilst open. Luckily only a couple of cm so the water was caught by the rain gutters.
Have you checked your big ends recently.... 🙄

This ‘halfline’ 635csi in for a niggling parasitic battery drain test that has proven elusive for the past 18 months causing inconvenience for the owner with numerous jump starts needed. We have conducted a precision current drain measurement which it has passed with flying colours. It will now sit on test for a few days to see if the parasitic drain reappears.
F10 M5 in for engine rebuild, we’ll keep you posted on the job here
Here at CPC we do love a good old e39 m5.
It's an #m5Friday
Phew ! That's another MEGA job done.Phew ! That's another MEGA job done.
This immaculate 6000mile N55 135i has visited for retrofitting of front parking sensors, Xenon headlights and cruise control. An absolute pleasure working on an ‘as new’ car.
Engine going back together nicely.
E46 M3 engine in for a refresh 😮.
