Cranio-Sacral Therapist Description

Craniosacral Therapy is a holistic healing practice that uses very light touches to balance the craniosacral system in the body. This includes the bones, nerves, fluids, and connective tissues of the cranium and spinal area. Craniosacral therapy addresses the craniosacral system, both physical and psychological. This system includes the cranium, spine, and sacrum that are connected by a continuous membrane of connective tissue deep inside the body.

CRANIOSACRAL SESSION

A craniosacral session generally lasts 30–60 minutes. The session begins with a discussion of a client’s health issues and the completion of a medical history form. (As a therapist I would encourage consumers to take independent medical advice before committing themselves to significant treatments and consult a doctor if symptoms persist). Once the form has been completed, the client remains fully clothed and lies down on a massage couch while the therapist uses light contacts and may work from any part of the body, guided by your own personal requirements. The contact is gentle, non-invasive and the client is supported to feel at ease throughout the session.

REBALANCE

Most clients find sessions pleasant and relaxing, however sometimes you may feel some discomfort as the system finds emotional and physical release. You may feel tingling sensations and a sense of feeling rebalanced or unblocked.

Buteyko Breathing Technique Buteyko Breathing Technique. A new approach to breathing problems for the 21st century. The two words "breath correctly" sum up the essence of Buteyko. The exercises promote nose-breathing and taking in an effective amount of air. For example, many people with breathing problems tend to repond to everyday situations sauch as walking uphill or talking on the telephone by automatically breathing more than is necessary. This is called over-breathing o...r hyper-ventilating. The Buteyko exercises provide you with the skills to be able to breathe correctly in these situations, and this prevents the development of a vicious cycle of over-breathing which can result in breathlessness, wheezing or coughing. The technique originates from Russia and was named after the Russian doctor, Konstantin Buteyko, who first developed the techniques during the 1950s. People learn Buteko with different aims in mind; here are some things Buteyko can help you with. ■Reducing how often you feel breathless ■breathing through your nose ■Controlling asthma attacks ■Stopping coughing ■Clearing sinusitis and rhinitis ■Improving your fitness ■Decreasing medication use ■Stopping panic attacks ■Identifying food intolerances ■Reducing snoring ■Sleeping better ■Reducing hay fever

Craniosacral therapy is a safe and very gentle treatment for a wide range of health problems. Craniosacral therapy is based on restoring harmony to the whole body including the central nervous system.by gently massaging the bones of the skull. Craniosacral therapy also includes massage of the face and mouth, spine, and pelvic area to ease body stress and improve movement. The craniosacral therapist can, by massage, work out where the problem lies in the body by the pattern...s of resistance and respond appropriately. This gentle hands on method is non-invasive and possibly offers relief for stress, headaches and muscle tension. Supporters of Craniosacral Therapy claim it is also beneficial in relieving neck and back pain, chronic fatigue, motor coordination difficulties, eye problems, depression, hyperactivity, and many other conditions.

Craniosacral Therapy for Babies Many people have heard of the benefits of craniosacral therapy for babies and children. Restrictions arising during birth may result in colic, sucking problems, breathing difficulties, restlessness and irritability. There is no manipulation of bones and so it is entirely safe for the baby or child. In the therapist’s gentle hands, the baby’s own forces for self-correction are tenderly enabled to do their own healing work. Babies and small children appreciate the way that craniosacral therapy speaks to them. It is a non-verbal, gentle treatment which they respond to particularly well.

Chronic Headache, Chronic Shoulder Pain, Problems with Sinuses
Daniel, a 74-year-old male came to my clinic with several chronic complaints. Daily headaches, sinus problems, and chronic shoulder pain were making his life challenging. He had tried traditional massage to alleviate the problems with only limited results. As soon as I started with craniosacral treatments, the daily headaches disappeared and according to Daniel, the pressure in his head started releasing. His sinu...s problems and his chronic shoulder pain, which he had for years, disappeared completely. Daniel is a classical example: Sometimes people like the magic touch of massage. In my therapy, it is about the individual and what the person would like. I introduced Daniel to craniosacral therapy since I have worked on many people before and I knew that the healing effects of craniosacral therapy are much more effective on Daniel than massage.
