Tried the coorg estate. Im a huge coffee fan and have tried many varieties. This is one of the best i have tried. The flavour hits you as soon as you smell it with great aftertaste. I have gone off nespreso own pods due to the cost and the taste is quite false.

User

Really impressed, the coffee is lovely, the dark roast makes a fabulous flat white. The smell when you open the bags is gorgeous and the coffee isn't made by Nestle - what's not to like? Oh, and it's cheaper than Nespresso too.

My first Cru package has arrived today. Just 3 workdays, wow! Thanks for the very elegant package, and the surprise chocolate coffee beans! The taste and the scent and the aroma are very good with the decaf coffee, it's late in the evening, we tried it first. :)

Thanks for the newsletter articles too!

My Cru samples turned up on Saturday, nice surprise when I looked outside my front door and in the rain sitting on the floor was a nice shiny black bag.

This says it all really, my wife is not a lover of Nespresso Coffee pods, I am but we are all different, she actually likes your pods in a Latte, trust me that's a good recommendation as she is very fussy , I am also sold, very nice.

Once my Nespresso pods run low I will be buying for sure.

Thank you for your leap of faith in supplying the pods!!

I originally gave a 1 star review, because the coffee never arrived! I must say, the Cru Kafe customer service has been absolutely amazing. Turns out that Royal Mail delivered to my neighbour, but never left me a card to let me know. Anyway, my neighbor delivered the coffee 4 days later, and it's delish! Great coffee and great service...who could ask for more?

Have only had a starter pack so far so can't comment on the issues some people have had. What I can say is that all the varieties in the pack are lovely. Great coffee, similar price (slightly cheaper) than the Nespresso own capsules. Organic coffee and best of all biodegradable capsules. Fits my Krups machine perfectly (unlike some other alternatives I've tried). The only thing I haven't seen mentioned is whether it is Fair Trade but it is suggested that it is ethical.

User

Really impressed with the coffee. Not quite as nice as Nespresso's own, but bloody close! Would be great if they could come out with some extra flavours (like Nespresso do with random, quirky flavours) but - for the money this coffee is fabulous!

User

Lovely coffee but feeling a bit hard done by! Introduced my mum to it and she got freebies including ground coffee and cotton bags with her order.... I just got the coffee I ordered with my first order!

I like my coffee to have a strong flavour. I prefer to drink espresso or macchiato, and I don't care about caffeine/kick - flavour is most important. I bought the CRU Kafe Dark Roast, Intense, Sierra Nevada and Coorg Estate:

Pros: Relatively cheap. About 20% more than you'd get from Nespresso as packs are 12's rather than 10s. The flavours mentioned in the tasting guides are especially prevalent when served as espresso. The dark roast was particularly delicious with a really strong and long lasting molasses/brown sugar flavour from the very start. It was slightly sweet and Long drinks are very refreshing when served cold. The single origins Coorg Estate was delicious in an espresso martini.

Another big pro is that the pods are 100% Organic and fair-trade.

The gift bag of chocolate covered coffee beans was a nice surprise.

Cons: I found that the drinks lost flavour really quickly when served long. But I prefer a really strong coffee, so that might just be me.

Some of the Coorg Estate pods seemed to be under-filled which meant that they didn't run through the machine properly and I ended up with a drip tray filled with espresso. I had 2 mishaps with the CE before I checked the rest of them and found that some of the lids are sunken in. A shame because I think this would be my overall favourite.

I think there is too much packaging, especially when CRU Kafe seem to be particularly green-leaning. I would prefer if the pods came in recyclable cardboard boxes either the same style as the Nespresso pods, or ideally similar to the 10-pack boxes sold by Percol. I also prefer that Percol pods are made from 100% biodegradable plant material.

All in all I prefer the green-feel from the Percol biodegradable pods but prefer the taste of this coffee, especially when served as espresso.

Great tasting coffee especially the Dark Roast however been having problems with the capsules. I have the Krups U machine. I need to run the machine twice as long to extract one espresso shot. Occasionally the machine needs to be reset as it won't "recognise" the pods. Any advice.

User

Ordered Variety Bundle on offer at Amazon. Capsules worked ok in Magimix Pixie machine. Really liked Intense and Dark Roast but found Light Roast and Decaf very weak with not much taste. Also some residue left over in machine when using these capsules, though I always just put hot water through on first use of machine.

Would order Intense and Dark Roast again but also need a recycling option. I wash capsules out after use and recycle with Nespresso capsules.

Hopefully this feedback will be used to improve Light Roast and Decaf options.

User

they were ok but nothing special. bits of floating coffee in my drink. not as nice as the proper one in my humble opinion. and there more expensive.

Expected better!

User

Slightly disappointed by these pods, bought the trial pack of varieties, I've had to put two pods in each cup of coffee to increase flavour. Can't say I noticed a huge difference between them all either. As an espresso they were not great either. Shall stick to nespresso or Taylor's, cafepod.

User

It could just be that I got a duff batch (is this possible?), but my initial excitement at getting a Nespresso replacement that was easier to recycle has been replaced with disappointment.

It's pretty much impossible to get all of the foil off for recycling, and I kinda gave up, and hope that I don't get in trouble from the council. It was a bit of a hassle cleaning 12 pods as well.

More importantly, the taste isn't amazing - I got the dark and intense roasts. Both are nowhere near the taste or intensity of my preferred Nespresso pods, and most have tasted watery and weak. I thought it might be my machine, as is quite old, but have descaled recently and then compared with some leftover Nespresso pods which taste great. Like I say, could be a duff batch, and will try a few more before I give up - have loads to get through though unfortunately!

User

I was keen to find a more ethical and responsible choice than nestle nespresso capsules. I watched the video on how to recycle the pods but in practice it was impossible to peel off the foil making them unrecyclable. The packaging the pods come in is also unrecyclable whereas nespresso use cardboard. The coffee was ok but I won’t buy again.

User

Despite we are huge Nespresso cups fans, we ordered a Cru Kafe variety pack of Amazon and we were happy first (although the light roast and decaf are, for our taste, quite weak),but along the way, we found that several cups didn't work at all although we always close the machine firmly in order to pierce the lid of the cup. We have Nespresso cups at home as well and they work all the time.

Sometimes we had to put three cups in in order to make one coffee, thus throwing away a considerable amount of coffee because the other two didn't work.

Sorry to say that we will not buy from you again.

User

Coffee ok but the capsules are not compatible with my Miele Nespresso machine. It caused the pods being chewed in the machine. Luckily it was solvable but could have been an expensive repair. Luckily the pods were a free sample...but thanks anyway

Your coffee pods Cost £58 per kilo

Sorry for one star.

I had no choice.

Good coffee beans £12 kilo

User

I was tempted away from Nespresso by your ethical and organic coffee. Unfortunately that's not enough if the product isn't up to scratch. I bought your Coorg Estate pods (strength 12) from Ocado last week. Very disappointed - watery and weak taste. No comparison with Nespresso Kazaar (also strength 12) or even Ristretto (strength 10). Need to work on the taste/strength if you are to compete with Nespresso.
