About Dalston Junction Railway Station

Dalston Junction is an inter-modal transport interchange on the East London Line in Dalston within the London Borough of Hackney, Greater London. It is located at the crossroads of Dalston Lane, Kingsland Road and Balls Pond Road. The station served by National Rail London Overground services under the control of the London Rail division of Transport for London, however there is no standard red National Rail "double arrow" logo signage located at the station, instead only the Overground roundel. London Buses routes 30, 38, 56, 67, 149, 242, 243 and 277 all serve the station while London Buses route 488 runs to and from the bus station and is in Zone 2. The station is located in a short section of cut and cover tunnel north of the Kingsland Viaduct. HistoryOriginal stationThe station was first opened on 1 November 1865 by the North London Railway on its "City Extension" from the North London Line to Broad Street in the City of London. It had three island platforms with four through lines joining the west side of the North London line, and two joining the east. The station had no overall roof.
