Where to begin and end ... I’ve come today for my birthday dinner. A special treat. Just for me. To celebrate. I love food I rather don’t eat out than have mediocre food. My meal was outstanding. Compliments to the chef(s). The service was perfect, outstanding too. Caring, engaging, always there. There was nothing left to desire. I’ll come back for the food alone. I loved that I didn’t have to make a decision, I could leave it to the chef. I thoroughly enjoyed that meal tonight. Thank you so much. An explosion of flavours and textures, not anticipated as no idea what would be served (the exact menu was revealed to me afterwards) perfectly combined foods and presented. Yes presented, as when served it was explained how it was laid out, eg the plate had three sections, or eg if it was hot to touch. I have gained insight into the practicality of eating something without seeing it but also about experiencing tastes and structures of foods in a meal and what this does to the overall enjoyment of food. And how to pour water from a carafe without sight. I left with a whole lot of food for thought about how people, who can’t see, feed themselves and what they need to do to eat and savour foods. A lot of my thoughts are about memory - of where eg cutlery, plates, drinks, and food on the plates actually are, and memory of foods as such. Remembering foods one once saw vs foods one only tasted without sight. On another level conversation with neighbours highlighted that actually we are happy together at this table and enjoying ourselves, without knowing what we look like and how we would position ourselves based on visual cues and based on this interact with each other. A dinner, sharing food and thoughts without real prejudices. We didn’t meet before or after. Also realising the utter advantage we have by being able to eat without seeing and without being seen doing this in this protected environment. I wasn’t able to join the silent bar, where your hearing is taken away from you and you have to manage without that sense. Next time. My biggest surprise was my feeling of utter disorientation, no spatial awareness left, a little dizzy (not dangerous but notable to me). My waitress Claire was awesome and went way beyond of serving us. She helped me understand certain things about how to do eating without sight. Thank you very much for being so open and welcoming. Although the objective of this restaurant includes providing education, which is perfectly delivered, I should very much like to recommend it as a very fine dining destination. I did thoroughly enjoy that meal! And the service! I felt so very well cared for tonight. Thank you to all the staff fir making my dinner tonight one I will remember. Keep up the good work!

What an amazing experience!!! I’ve never known darkness like it and felt a little overwhelmed initially but once I got over that it was a surreal and exciting experience. Special thanks go to our waitress Courtney who was lovely natured and very patient with all on her tables. This experience is a must try for all.



As a side note, I’m a particularly fussy eater so if I can enjoy this anyone can! Thanks for a truly memorable evening Dans le noir �

Well myself and 3 others went last Saturday for lunch, and what a great experience it was the most weird funny strange and a bit scary experience ever... we were sat with 4 other people that we clicked with straight away.we had the pleasure of having Jack as our waiter who was so funny and really made the whole experience, food was lovely as was the cocktail. All I can say is go try it x

Today we have been for a meal at dans le noir in total darkness. Great fun! But shout out to Trevor our waiter who made our experience! Even when my sister was a little anxious he done everything he could to calm her!

You literally cannot see your own hand infront of you! Wouldn't recommend if you are scared of the dark! Meal was lovely!

This is an experience that I think people need to try. I was very unsettled as I walked in and sat in my seat. Our waiter Trevor kept asking if I was ok and was the most amazing waiter. You think your eyes would adjust but couldn't even see your hand in front of your face. The food was very nice aswell.

Really great experience, makes you appreciate all your senses.... You enjoy your food more because you are relying on your taste buds to guess what food you having. Staff is really friendly and super nice. It was my friends birthday and they really made her experience worth remembering

On arrival, the hosts are very friendly and welcoming. They explain the concept and you have simple menu options, you just have to be open minded! It is pricey, but it's worth the experience. Our waiter, Jack, deserves a special shout as he made the experience even better. You are putting your trust into a complete stranger and he done a brilliant job putting us at ease... jokes were on point too! The noise is to be expected but isn't as bad as some make out, I had a few bumps from waiters walking around which was a little rattling. The food wasn't as hot as I would normally like but I think they do that for a reason, the variety however is good. Pleasantly surprised once we'd found out what we had and ended it with lessons in sign language at the bar. Would recommend but once is enough.

Had the Chef's choice menu on a Sunday evening and it was simply amazing. Food was as good as anywhere I've eaten, the service was even better and the experience of eating in the dark was extraordinary. Very, very highly recommended.

Had a great time... we had the veggie plate, starter was lovely, and I managed to guess all that was on my plate.. Main was a risotto.. it was ok.. but it came in a Parmesan basket, which was a little to rich.. I could only eat about a third of it! Service was excellent... and overall a great experience... I did get very hot after my meal, which in turn made me a little anxious... but still worthy of 5*

The cocktails and the sign language lesson, upstairs in the silent disco afterwards were both good/interesting and fun.

Finally got to experience this place! Amazing! Being deprived of my sight definitely left me feeling vulnerable and scared to begin with, but our group embraced the experience and I was in awe of Jack our waiter. Fabuous food- 3 of us had the Red menu and 1 had the White menu. When in the dark,you suddenly become so much more aware of the noise and sounds around you! It's an experience that is a must!

An excellent evening, a very different experience and good for bonding with the others in your party, helping them to wine and bread etc and getting help in return. You have to listen to everyone. Thankyou to Roberto and Golda (in the sign bar afterwards) just an amazing and never to be forgotten

Amazing! Went there for a birthday surpise for my husband and I thought he would hate it, but we both had a great time! Lovely staff (Jack, our waiter, was adorable, funny and very professional!), outstanding food (we chose the White menu and the selection included scallops, crocodile and rendeer!) and a once in a lifetime type of experience. It felt wonderful to rely on my other senses instead of my sight and to let go of social norms. Yes, I ended up eating with my hands! If it weren't so expensive, I would go back more often! Highly recommended!

Absolutely amazing experience, so much fun and surprisingly excellent food and drink quality too - who would have thought I would have loved crocodile?! The staff are lovely and so friendly and accommodating - special shout out to our waiter Roberto who was great fun and put us all at ease. A very unique experience- I was served by the awesome Jack who took great care of all of us. The food (red option) was delicious- the dessert was out of this world. I thought it was very loud, but the receptionist explained they had a group there so it was probably just bad timing. Later on I went upstairs and learned a bit of BSL (I forgot to ask the name of the lovely lady who taught me, so sorry :( ) it is not for everyone, I can see that, but I am very happy I tried it.
