We have been a member for five years I think it must be now, and never had a moan. However, I was disappointed to learn that as I had a significant tear in my patella tendon, and could not do any activities at all, since August, i was advised at the time that I could not suspend my membership if I still wanted to bring my children swimming. Even though I would literally be sitting in the kids pool maybe once a week. Having to pay over £150 a month family membership makes me feel a bit disgruntled but I won't ever cancel as I know I will need a good PT and facilities when this gets fix. (Which is taking a long time due to complications!)

I would've thought due to loyalty of us at the club there would be some Lee way.

I have been a member here a couple of years and love it. Would recommend to anyone. However 2 minor grumbles:

1. I have mentioned to management and on your review tablet in reception the tv screens on the treadmills, all the channels are warped! Not the end of the world but annoying it’s been like this for a year!

2. The removal of the squash courts. I don’t play at the moment but I know those who do and I see a lot of young members playing. I think it is amazing to promote team sports in adults and especially in children. So nice to see them exercising and having fun. Such a shame to take that away.

Overall though, great club!

Been a member for almost a year now, great staff and trainers. Everyone are very helpful and happy to help...

But:

The food is just horrible, cooking is inconsistent and bad, not sure that person who is in charge of the kitchen know what is good food. The cuts of meat are so bad that they can't be cooked well even in theory. Its supposed to be a premium place and it is in all of the aspects but one: kitchen!!!

I wanted to have a word to the management today but was in the rush, they can't even cook a sausage properly. My 2,5 year old was served uncooked sausages.

Anyway, great place but they need to sort they head chef out big time.

KINGSHILL BRANCH - We have been trying to cancel our membership since the end of September, unfortunately we not were made aware of the 3 month cancellation policy and were told that we have a 12 month contract for one year which would then roll monthly from then on. Our mistake as in fact the paperwork said 3 months.

We were then told our membership would only be cancelled if we were moving 10 miles away from a David Lloyd club, we are in fact moving this far away from our DL club which we pay more for due to it being an elite one of the David Lloyd branches. I then was informed that despite the fact we only joined to use the KingsHill branch we would not be entitled to end our membership with one months notice but instead could pay the nearer non elite branch monthly fee. I informed the customer relations manager that we would not be able to use this club and was told it was our decision whether we use the non elite club or not. With no other choice we accepted this offer, however as we are now half way through the 1st of our 3 months cancellation period, I asked if we could have the difference between the branches refunded to us and have today been informed that this is not possible.

I have been in contact Lynda, the customer relations manager and she confirmed that us cancelling our membership has no additional cost to the branch other than loss of profit each month but she is not willing to help accommodate as it is their policy, therefore confirming that the club simply will not be willing to offer any kind of help with this matter.

We have been so let down with the customer service we have received and would not rejoin the club has hoped in the summer due to this matter. We strongly feel this club offers very little customer service and simply charges expensive prices with no regard for personal circumstances.

I am very disappointed in the way I have been treated, I transferred clubs, and two months later I receive a phone call saying that I have over due payments this was not my fault at all and I asked if I could resolve the problem in the morning and they said I had to come in that day if I wanted the tennis court reserved for me and my daughter , I found this very upsetting.

User

My partner and I joined only last week and I'm now very disappointed to receive a text today saying join today and there is no joining fee, we paid £100 last week and we're told there were no deals to remove the joining fee at all.

Emailed for a refund if this £100 as a show of customer service and a gesture of good will, let's see if they are good or whether we will just cancel the DD's

Totally unacceptable.

Just been told via a note stuck on the squash court wall that they are closing the squash courts. No notification, no consultation, no offer of compromise. Definitely no offer of part refund!! Just a note stuck up on the wall.

Management claims to have sent out an email but no one has seen it.

I pay £220 a month for me and my wife, I joined because I wanted to use the gym AND play squash. We have a great and friendly league that will now just disappear.

DL claims to be all about community but they are not. These actions show us they are interested only in money.

I will be cancelling my membership and I know that many more will do the same.

Joined in Weybridge, Surrey, loved it. Moved to Kent, even if Maidstone is nearer us, we joined Kings Hill as bigger....since we joined, not very happy. Staff not as friendly as Weybridge. Car park is a nightmare, people don't respect family spaces. Food, whatever I chose, not available! Left several feedback, never been contacted! Now we just want to cancel. Nothing interesting there for us anymore...

I would really like to know why I am unable to bring my son to David Lloyd Kings Hill as a guest. He worked there for a year as a lifeguard, prior to going to university last September and he has worked at the Club as a life guard through this summer - he worked there at the invitation of the David Lloyd Club. Apparently he is unable to go to ANY David Lloyd Club for 6 months - so he is effectively barred. Why do David Lloyd treat their employees/ex employees like this? Supplemental question - as a member of this particular club since it opened, over 10 years ago, why do they think I would bring someone to the Club that is unsuitable? Not impressed at all.
