We held our Engagement party here recently. We hired the Garden Lounge and we're thoroughly happy with our experience from booking the venue to the end of our evening. The advice was good and staff very friendly. The Buffet was tasty and plentiful and the whole evening ran smoothly. My guests commented on how lovely the hotel was and nothing was too much trouble. There was a very homely feel too. Would definitely recommend it and would book again. Thank you De Rougemont Manor.

We had an amazing wedding day at De Rougemont. Big Thank You to Naomi and all the staff. Steve and Angela

User

We had Christmas Day dinner here and they certainly pulled out all the stops. Lovely hard working staff, great singer and entertainment. Great fun for All the family 👍

User

Was made so welcome yesterday had a little meeting and a catch up with fellow business colleagues planning for 2018. Beautiful lunch and drinks served with no hassle

User

This is a lovely hotel, rooms are really nice and the beds are comfortable.

Food is amazing, always fresh and plentiful.

As for the staff, they are very helpful, friendly, welcoming and will help anyone out.

Having stopped here a fews, you see the regular people that stop here and that must be a good sign.

User

Love love this place! The food, staff and facilities are just excellent. Highly recommended for an overnight stay, afternoon tea or even a lovely dinner. Best in Essex by far

User

I got married here Friday had an amazing day staff was amazing through the whole planning stage (Naomi) staff on the day was just as amazing my bridal sweet was something else two bedrooms two bathrooms and very spacious great if you have a big bridal party the food was amazing I couldn't of picked a better venue! And even better amazing value for money would recommend this venue to anyone and everyone! Again thank you Naomi!

User

Had afternoon tea yesterday afternoon with my familiy. The food and service was outstanding. So much food we couldn’t eat it all so had a “doggie” bag prepared for us. Thank you for such delicious food and a very enjoyable experience.

User

would have been 5 star but we were given room 138 key instead of 137 and had a shock at 01:30 when someone came in the room!

User

Had Afternoon Tea yesterday for my belated May birthday present from my daughter as she'd been working abroad. Have to admit have had better Afternoon Teas though and never had an Afternoon Tea with crisps! A beautiful place. A nice experience. My daughter had her Prom here just over 5 years ago but I'd never been so was lovely to see. Would return.

Such a shame we chose a day when it was raining and couldn't sit in the lovely garden after although seemed an ideal day to take Afternoon Tea as it WAS raining. The heating had to be on in fact, even though it was August. August in England! :(

Felt sorry for the bride we saw turning up re the weather :( :(

User

Fantastic food, friendly staff, nice relaxing atmosphere xx

User

We were treated to afternoon tea at this beautiful setting. The staff are young and possibly not experienced enough to pay attention to minor details, which would make the experience all the more memorable, however the visit was enhanced by the wonderful surrounding quiet countryside, whilst sitting beneath the huge parasols taking in the afternoon sun

User

The positive here is that staff are excellent, attentive and professional. Not so much a negative but a general observation - hotel appears to be a mash of the last four decades of hotel trends. Room I was in was fairly modern, clean and comfortable however some communal areas including the restaurant are a a bit of a step back to 80s. That said, food was good and staff were great. Thanks.

User

Went there for Mothers Day like we have every year for the last 4 years but we're very disappointed in the food. Usually it's good restaurant style food but this time it was basically a Sunday roast and not even a good one. And they kept forgetting peoples food, we'd already had our starters by the time our daughters arrived. Singer was excellent as always though.

User

Very noisy, poor internet. Second stay, first time in lovely new room, but corridor had a lot of passing traffic. Cleaners start early, bathroom needed heating.

Second stay noise from function till late, no internet to drown out noise. Food always cold

User

Terrible hotel to stay at. Room was tiny, single bed, couldn't fit clothes in wardrobe, WiFi is non existent. I work in a job where I travel all over the UK and been to Brentwood more than once and both the holiday in and marygreen manor are head and shoulders above this place. It's a nice building with lovely surroundings but service and value for money is well below par. Definitely better places to stay in the area :( thumbs down, not only that they are the only hotel that make u pay a 50 pound per night deposit and there is nothing in the room worth stealing or breaking

User

Had a birthday celebrations and nearly choked on a piece of glass in my vodka and coke was offered afternoon tea as compensation which I attended yesterday with my cousin the cups were chipped and the sandwiches were nearly dry hardly any filling when I complained they done more for us with more filling don't recommend this place for future events or celebrations as they say once bitten twice shy.

WARNING,.... LONG REVIEW :)

I took my mum, my nan and my sister here for afternoon tea. I couldn't do it on mothers day so we did it the weekend after. We had a booking for 3.30pm, we arrived at 3.20pm and was told to wait in the bar area while the receptionist was to let the restaurant know we had arrived, at quarter to 4 I went to the reception to ask if our table was ready, the receptionist response was 'oh are you ready now, ill go and tell them your waiting' even though she had asked us to wait in the bar area. At 4pm we were seated for the afternoon tea, which we was all excited about because as mummies we don't often get time together without the babies. When we sat down the table was wonky and not a little bit wonky in which a piece of paper would have fixed no, if we put pressure on the table it would have broke due to a broken leg. but we didn't complain.

The plates and cups didn't match at all and some of the cups were dirty so we had to get these changed. (We aren't normally picky but these had a lot of dirty in the cups)

When seated they asked us what drinks we would like, we asked the lady for a tea list as wasn't sure what we fancied. 10 minutes later another lady came over, so again we asked for a tea list.

She came back with a box of the different teas and explained they didn't do a tea list, which is what the other lady should have said but didn't.

The way the restaurant was done up and atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely, we got our teas/coffees and was chatting away, There wasn't enough sugar for 4 of us so had to ask for another pot and more milk as they gave enough for one of us . At 4.30pm the manager of the restaurant came over and said our sandwiches/scones etc. would be a little while as they had a late booking.

We could see they didn't have enough staff as people were complaining on other tables about still waiting on drinks they ordered a while ago.

We got the sandwiches at quarter to 5 which we wasn't happy about, BUT They were delicious! The cakes looked great. Once we started eating we noticed their wasn't any napkins on the table in which we had to ask for, they came back with paper napkins you would have at a kids party,

we asked for a drinks list as we fancied another drink. (Nan likes soft drinks and the rest of us fancied a glass of wine)

They only had a wine list, didn't have a list of the other drinks they served.

When we finally finished our tea we couldn't eat it all so the lady got us a doggie bag for us to take them home which was a cute little handbag made from tinfoil,

I've been for afternoon tea a few times before (never had a bad experience) and this is the worst I've been to, it seems they cant handle the busier periods. The staff don't seem to care and we didn't leave smiling about our experience which was a shame as this is meant to be a 4 star hotel.

User

Very disappointed! Was sent brochure for wedding planned next year. They phoned to check I had received brochure and I told them what we specifically wanted. Was told the date I wanted was free. I was told we could a great rate also as wasn't going to be a whole day event. I phoned them back to arrange a visit with my fiancé to view with Divine. We arrived and had to wait and was told Divine was not there and would see Naomi. Naomi eventually came and I had to retell her what we wanted as she had no brief. She went off the check date, to come back and be told it was unavailable!!! What a waste of time and very unprofessional in every way. I don't think I would trust them with my wedding
