What an incredible journey first of all!!! Made possible by the amazing organisation and the faultless staff that supported all of us along the way, across widely varied levels of cycling we were all treated As equals. I cannot believe the dedication displayed throughout, from them handing out towels & laundry at 5am or strapping up sore bodies at 10pm we were created with a smile and a grit that I have never seen before, they will do whatever possible to make sure you can make it to the end. The chaperones were all fantastic, the route signage was faultless and the food was just bloody magical. I will cherish this memory and achievement for the rest of my life and I will be forever grateful that the Deloitte RAB team made it all possible. Sounds crazy but I feel like my 969 miles on the bike was the easy bit compared to what others did to make it happen. Don't sit and wonder what if, sign up and follow your heart!! You will walk away just like I have with a huge smile, great memories and a huge medal around your neck. Massive thanks to the staff and all of the class of 2016 you were all amazing and I truly salute you!!!!!!!!!

User

What an experience!!! The RAB team were out of this world. Still not quite got round to being fully with it all yet. Find myself drifting off remembering small shards of various parts. The good, the breathtaking, the hard and heartbreaking, the smiles, the food, the RAB early morning choons are also engrained with me forever. It's allowed me to deal with the loss of mum in a way I still cant quite fathom - Thank you........ thank you everyone - hope to do it again one day soon (with just a little less mud and rain please :) )

User

What a fantastic event!! The weather in 2017 wasn’t kind to us and made me totally unprepared for the camping side of things but the time on bike was superb. Fantastic organisation all round on and off the bike. A few personal dark times for me but with so much encouragement and support from everyone involved these were soon sorted and the desire to give up was erased. These lows were certainly outdone by the highs.

If your thinking of doing this event stop thinking and just do it.

User

This was quite the most exhilarating event I've done - brilliantly we'll run by Threshold from start to finish with an attention to detail that I've not experienced before. Plus they also managed to turn the sun on for us and leave it turned on all week. They should be rightly proud of running this event and I'd do it again tomorrow if I wasn't so knackered!

User

This is one of the best things I've ever done. I wanted to challenge myself and also raise money for some local church charities (currently I've just topped £20K) and RAB provides the perfect platform for both. The ride was made by the people. There was a great spirit about the whole thing. Also, Threshold make the campsites very accessible. Each site is essentially the same and the regularity and routine help to make the mammoth challenge easier because you don't have to worry about much else but battering the miles out.. Let's face it - it is a huge challenge riding an average of 108 miles per day for 9 days but somehow it's made possible through physical and psychological toughness and a camaraderie which works so positively. The food is superb (shame about some of the racecourse offerings), although perhaps we had just been spoilt with Lulu's fab dishes. One guy described RAB as an "all you can eat buffet with cycling inbetween!" My advice if you're thinking about this is "go for it" but make sure you put the training in. Some people looked pretty shell-shocked after having turned up and seemingly not having put the work in beforehand. I'm sure you'll have a great time if you train well. On top of all that, I forgot to mention the stunning countryside.......

User

The whole RAB experience is amazing, starting with the sample weekend which is London Revolution. The whole crew are so warm and welcoming from start to finish. The food which is supplied in the mobile kitchens is superb. And I even started to enjoy the camping side of this epic adventure. A massive thank you to all at Threshold and supporting companies for doing putting on such a spectacular event

User

The most amazing, epic experience with a fantastic bunch of 600 other riders. Support and organisation was almost faultless throughout - food, chaperones, docs/physios, the route, pit stops (and the weather, though this can't be guaranteed!) were all brilliant.

Only improvement I could suggest would be to have better quality tents as condensation/damp on the inside from Day 2 onwards meant I awoke to internal rain drops.

A fantastic, unforgettable challenge and experience which I would recommend to anyone. Difficult to re-adjust to life back at work today, outside the 'RAB bubble'.

Thanks for great memories.

User

The best week on the bike of my life! Loved every second of it, even during darker times out on the road. Completely exceeded my expectations in every way, the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was unexplainably incredible, being surrounded by like minded people made it easy to socialise, I even enjoyed the camping. I can't actually think of anywhere or anyway you could improve.... highly recommended, the post RAB blues hit hard 2 days after. I'll be back for more threshold events!!

User

Right, so lots of comments on here from endorphin fuelled riders who made it to JOG. What about the unvarnished truth from someone who had to climb off the bike round about Glasgow?

Well...

Completely echo the comments of everyone else. The organisation was superb. Having been involved in organising some fairly major sporting events in the past I know the huge commitment that goes into making something like RAB work as well as it did, both emotional investment, and massive attention to detail. It was spot on, in pretty much every respect. The big things were done with seamless perfection- the route and signage, the base camps, the pit stops the luggage transfers etc. However, it is what might be considered the smaller things or the "soft power" elements that really elevate the event- in particular the obviously unfeigned (or if feigned, astonishingly well feigned) enthusiasm from every single member of the crew whether engaged by Threshold, Andy, EBE, DHL, Lulu or whoever.

What was also a real eye opener was watching the efforts of the chaperones with the riders towards the back of the field while riding in the broom. Selflessness beyond measure.

Great crack too amongst all the riders (though, perhaps inevitably, there are a few who are just a tad too enthusiastic sheep dogs and/or hole pointer/ shouter outers).

I have one OCD based observation. The handgels at the loos should be turned round so they face you as you leave the loos, not arrive at them. Cos you need to sanitise your hands after, not before. Yes, that really is my big criticism of the event.

User

I was told by a number of past alumini that the organisation of the ride impeccable. But I had to be in it to believe it. The food, the tents, the facilities, the staff. the medics were all so welcoming, positive and supportive. The chaperones are the most helpful people you will meet. If you get the chance to do this ride, don't miss it.

User

I can honestly say that this was the best and most rewarding experience of my life. The RAB bubble is real, it carried me the whole way. All the people involved in the organising and running of the event were amazing, they really keep you going through everything. There were some really tough moments but the people get you through them. I'd definitely do this again! (I want the gold jersey)

User

I am recovered physically from this wonderful challenge but mentally it was harder to adapt to the real world, I keep on day dreaming of the various parts of the UK! I can only speak about 2017 but it was very tough.

It’s not necessarily just the cycling that takes it out of you. The camping, when wet, was very testing but I cannot praise everyone who worked on this event enough. There were always smiles, even at the hardest moments, which makes it so much easier to cope. The food was incredible too, which makes such a difference after a long day in the saddle.

I really can’t find any fault with the entire experience, it was everything I wanted from it.

There were some difficult moments during this journey but if it was easy then the sense of achievement at the end would be greatly diminished.

User

Fantastic experience. So glad I did it. Not as prepared as I thought I was but crossed the finish line without assistance from the dreaded broom wagon!! The organisation, the food, the people were totally SUPERB. Fell of my bike at the end saying never again..... Mm Thinking about it now!! Maybe in a year or two...... Great bubble to be in.

User

Epic, hell of a challenge, and surely the best way to see, and feel, it all !

User

Deloitte RAB 2017 was everything I had hoped for and more. The most challenging, yet rewarding of experiences. Mother Nature was not on our side, but the enthusiasm, experience and energy of the Threshold Team ensured quitting was never an option. Memories of a lifetime created, many new friends made. Highly recommend to anyone considering entering the 'Bubble' in 2018.

User

By far the best thing I've done, the support from the whole team right the way through, from the minute you arrive to the minute you (sadly) say goodbye is phenomenal, I can't thank everyone enough for how much of a great time I had, sometimes it hurt and I went through every emotion in the book, met some fantastic people and feel proud to have done it!

Thanks so much for the opportunity, you will see me again.

User

Amazingly well organised by a bunch of switched on people... Always make sure that you have what you want , when you need it .....be it encouragement ... technical , medical or whatever ....but always with the absolute minimum of fuss .... many of the facilities are outsourced and boy is that procurement process efficient.... from the Caterers to the bag handlers to the people mopping the showers between users (which they always do) every part of the whole RAB experience is accompanied by just the right amount of positivity and a smile ...... This means that you feel supported and not patronized. ...All of this is not to mention the "Tour Highlights"

of cycling through the most wonderful countryside.. If i could afford to do this event every year i would.....

User

Absolutely loved the RAB bubble - although it did take a little adjustment to get used to the early starts and the tents! Brilliantly run and every little thing is thought of! Awesome routes with such stunning views. I can see where the money goes, especially with the copious amounts of extremely yummy food. Couple of things I would suggest if it's possible - having a cover over the bikes (a massive gazebo?), name tags for when off the bikes so you can put faces to names when helmets and sunglasses are off, and playing the whole wake-up song from start to finish, you'd just get into it and it would stop...

Thanks RAB for such an amazing experience, it's really hard to get back into boring old normal life now though. I want to ride my bicycle....

User

A most amazing way to complete Lands End to John O'Groats for those who do not have the time or the know how to organise it themselves. Threshold will provide you with a fantastic level of support from the day you sign up to the day you cross the finish line.

Epic, hell of a challenge, and surely the best way to see, and feel, it all !

A most amazing way to complete Lands End to John O'Groats for those who do not have the time or the know how to organise it themselves. Threshold will provide you with a fantastic level of support from the day you sign up to the day you cross the finish line.
