If you live in the vicinity, please consider supporting this event to raise money to buy essential equipment for the community dental unit at Herona Hospital and also equipment to enable the dental clinicians to offer outreach dental care to rural communities in Mukono District, Uganda

In February Carole Brennan, Co-founder of DHFI, and Mandy Luzar, who has participated in our visits to India since 2011, were accompanied by Carolyn Trevorrow on a maiden trip to Uganda. They were hosted by Ebenezer's childrens home in Kisoga, Mukono district, and the iitinerary was organised by Herona Hospital, a newly developing community hospital that itself is being supported by IMET2000 - a UK charitable trust. During the trip they visited 8 local schools. Each school se...lected 50-80 children who were screened for dental disease and educated in correct cleaning techniques and prevention of dental disease. Every child in each school was given a new toothbrush that had been purchased by the UK volunteers. In excess of 4000 toothbrushes were given out. The dental aspect of the trip culminated with a free clinic day at the hospital, offering the community free treatment for the relief of dental pain. Over 300 people attended! A highlight of the trip was being there for the official opening of the 1st phase of the hospital, and experiencing Ugandan celebrations. A brief trip to Murchisson Falls National Park, and seeing the wildlife on foot, by vehicle and by boat on the River Nile saw the end of their adventures - for the time being! DEntal Hygienists and Therapists for India, hope to continue to offer their services to Herona Hospital and the local community, alongside their original commitment to NGO's in India.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Swallow Dental Supplies for their support sourcing hand instruments, for this trip. Loupes and lights purchased prior to departure, proved essential under difficult working conditions. Light and comfortable to wear, and providing an enhanced field of vision. An excellent investment, for anyone considering buying loupes, we can highly recommend these ones.

Team 2016, have returned from another successful visit to the Rural Villages in Thane District. The attendance at our final days educational forum for the village's women was amazing, and their interest in preventing dental disease for future generations, encouraging. The team supporting us could not have done more to ensure the success of our trip, and our thanks go to them all. We are already looking forward to organizing future visits, and anyone interested in being part of this work should register their interest with us. Lots more photos to follow, but with in excess of 600, we want to select the best for our followers. Our huge thanks to Natalie, Kirsten, Anna and Chaitali, for sharing their time and professional skill with us. Please encourage your friends and family to like our page.
