I am an accredited psychotherapist, working in the Kelvingrove area of Glasgow. I offer professional therapy to people from all walks of life.

Counselling is essentially a conversation between two people that is private and undisturbed. What you talk about is up to you. It can be chance to 'stand back' and consider where you are in life and what you want. It can also be change to focus on those areas of your life that you are finding difficult or painful. It can include past events, feelings and emotions as well as aspects of your present situation. During the conversation I will give attention and notice what's important to you, what you value, what you miss out and what you dismiss. I'll invite you to notice it too. I may encourage you to concentrate on those areas that have an emotional charge or, alternatively, those areas that seem to be ignored. We can both pay attention to your history, how you are living just now and how we relate to each other. In doing this we can gain understanding of how past experiences influence your present beliefs and how you live today. You can then become more aware of your patterns and hopefully more understanding of how you came to make these choices.

Counselling isn't about finding a 'right' answer, but more about you finding your way in the world that is satisfying and growthful for you. It is about hearing, experiencing and valuing yourself, even those areas that we often attempt to disown. Those parts of you will have developed in response to difficult times in your life and will have served you well in the past. This process of valuing the whole of you leads to a more compassionate way of being with more choices and possibilities.
