Soft play is a great idea for the kids. It means that adults can continue to enjoy their meal when kids are finished they can go and play rather than become restless.

The food is also very nice and good value for money!

Only minor error is there is not always on the bar to get a drink so sometimes you are waiting a while to get served. However would still definitely recommend

Poped in here for lunch today. Tried the carvery and it was very good, Beef very tender, nice veggies and frendly service. I was with a mate and we were both impressed, beer was ok as well. Will be back soon.

Last minute decision on going out tonight. Rung up and spoke to the nicest lady who said she would still let me and my family order as they dont usually take food orders after 8! Welcomed in straight away by a lovely team of staff. I couldnt fault customer service one bit. Everyone was so polite. Had a chat and acknowledge us there! The food was so good. And brilliant prices. A couple of years back this place went downhill in my opinion. But they have really changed things. Definatly made regulars from us!

Arrived for dessert, ordered and waited a little time for it, a young guy came out to explain the delay about not having any cold bowls. Very polite and sincere. We said not a problem and don’t mind a warm bowl. Came out with added extra for the delay, looked and tasted amazing. This guy is a credit to the team. WTG � �

We really enjoyed our food last night. We had been before and most of us had the Carvery. It was amazing, the only let down was the roast potatoes. The service and staff were excellent, efficient and attentive. Our Grandchildren enjoyed the play area. We will be back!

We have passed this restaurant several time and have always seen lots of cars in the car park. We decided to find out for ourselves what it was like. We found the staff very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Carvery excellent value and tasted good. Would go again and take family group.

The food was excellent we had a table of seven and no complaints from us. Staff were polite and attentive . I am being picky but it would have been nice for the tea to be served in a pot as the tea arrived with teabag still in it and it was a bit stewed. But would definitely go back.

Most of the new carvery food was deelish, the only letdown was the frozen roast potatoes. I would like to think a carvery would merit fresh veg and not something that Aunt Bessie created and all you had to do was open the bags!

At times, the queue for the carvery was weaving round the restaurant, and diners were getting elbows in their faces from the people in the queue, so whoever planned the layout, needs to sit on the naughty chair ÔøΩ

The restaurant was very hot and stuffy from the heat of the carvery, so the air con really needs to be sorted out, especially for peak times when there are lots more bodies in the restaurant.

I saw every single member of staff eating while they were serving....when the carvery shut, they dived on the left over meat like vultures, talking, laughing and stuffing their faces, all within full view of the customers, and a couple of the staff even had a plate of food on the end of the bar, and were actually eating it whilst serving drinks! It's really not very professional to be carrying on in this way and I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be doing it if a district manager was in the building.

And if the restaurant is open, the coffee machine should be working.....not cleaned and turned off before 9.30!

Little niggley bits like those mentioned, spoiled what should have been a fantastic meal out. If you sort out that sort of stuff, you really will have a thriving goldmine on your hands.

Fourth time that myself and hubby have been for carvery.. Nearly everything served was really lovely except for the roast potatoes.. very first carvery and the roast potatoes were lush but since then they've either changed supplier or purchased cheaper ones because they are dry and horrible.. Staff are really helpful and the chef serving is friendly although someone needs to keep the area that customers serve themselves veg is kept clean..could have made a whole dinner out of the slops on counter...…..Does anyone from Dick Turpin actually read these reviews because it seems the roast potatoes have been an issue for months!!!!!!

Food and drinks of a good standard, very good value for money staff very friendly! Kids area inside and out both good! If you want a good weekend lunch or dinner with the family that is a decent price then go here!

Came here the other week for the carvery. We had a lovely meal even though they were short staffed. Came here again with the family for the carvery again, but this time it wasn't very nice. The roast potatoes were awful they were definitely frozen ones not homemade as they weren't cooked properly, they were hard in the middle. We were so disappointed üòî also again they were short staffed. Get your act together or we won't be returning.

Went for a carvery, no gammon, no peas, the turkey was dry the brussels were very small and dried out and the gravy was very salty. We use the restaurant quite a lot but don’t think we will use the carvery again what a disappointment

Well we had carvery at dick Turpin week ago a be was lovely . Looked at the menu and then thought yay we go back happy to found somewhere nice . Oh nooooo tonight what a night mare food cold took like forever to come out hunters chicken come up no bbq sauce . Wtf why server hunters chicken without bbq sauce . Prawn start with no sauce on a limp lettuce leaf . Thank fuck we got our food back and wont be returning back. Only thing I can say is the poor waitress working her arse off constantly apologising to so many people tonight and refunding a fair few people’s mon y X well done lovely for keeping your cool and dealing with the situations . Hate to give a 1 to be able to rate it

Disgusting again. First came Mother’s Day to be told it was bookings only even though the website, Facebook and when I called to confirm said they were taking no bookings, arrive on the day. Eventually got a table as “luckily” another table for 16 didn’t show up. So today, an average Sunday, again severely understaffed, it’s a free for all, and after an incident of one child (about 3) punching children in the face and stomach in the play area repeatedly, rather than reporting it to the parents (travellers) they closed the whole play area (to around 30 kids). The place is run by kids, always understaffed, come on Wickford, it wouldn’t do much to compete with that!!!
