HGFYL 02 Don Bosco 3-3 Institute The boys came away from this game wondering how they did not take all 3pts. The Boys more or less dominated the game and scored a great goal through captain Oran Doherty and were outplaying their opponents without getting through to the keeper. But after a great passage of play we went thru on goal and Callum was brought down only for the ref to give a goal kick, ref apologised as he was looking at something else and missed the tackle but to m...ake matters worse Institute then broke and with Heaney chasing the forward he made a great recovery tackle in the box only for the ref to blow for a pen much to the astonishment of nearly everyone at the game. 1-1 at half time. 2ND half we flew out the traps and missed 4 1 on 1 to take the lead and as often happens the team up against it scored when a player was allows to dance past 3 men and finished to make it 2-1, rather than learn Stute scored an almost identical goal to make it 3-1. With nothing to lose and the bare 11 today the Boyd grabbed the game by the scruff and played the game in Stute half from this point on. Gareth Doherty went past 3 men and drove to the box where was brought down and the pen was scored, 3-2. The boys kept pressing and when Gareth was brought down 25 yrds out and McLaughlin stood up and curled it into the net 3-3 with mins to go. Rather then settle for the point the boys kept pressing and thought they got the winner when the ball was whipped in and Donzo rose above everybody at the back post and his header hit the back of the net, unfortunately the ref blew his whistle for a foul, to the dismay of the Boscos boys and to the the delight of the Stute team. 3-3 finish and with a bit of luck in the decisions and a bit better finishing this game cud have been out of sight. With the bare numbers and an awful day weather wise, the boys showed a good attitude throughout trying to play football the way it should and a fighting spirit to come back from 3-1. Well done boys

⚽⚽Don Boscos would like to thank all the clubs that participated in the 2011 Futsal tournament at the Cksport centre, this weekend. A big congratulations to Foyleharps on winning the shield and Maiden City Soccer School on winning the cup. All teams provided strong competition while playing some wonderful football and displayed the ability to adapt to the rules and intensity that the game of Futsal requires. Futsal has proven to be an excellent tool in developing technically good football players and will hopefully generate a lot of interest in the city in the years to come.⚽⚽

HGFYL 02s Culmore 2-9 Don Boscos As the scoreline suggests the boys dominated this game from start to finish. Playing quick passing style that has been missing the last few games we took the lead through Gary McCormick when he ran down the left cut in and fired past the keeper, shortly after Donnelly made it 2. Heaney scored a great free kick to make it 3. Culmore were depending on set pieces to get at Boscos and were rewarded when a scramble in the box was poked home, howev...er Donnelly scored almost immediately and Ethan Day poked home just before half time to leave it 5-1. 2ND half was just the same as first with Boscos attacking and shud have extended but it was Culmore that scored when a free kick was well saved from Moore and the resulting corner produced a good strike from edge of box but just like before Boscos scored almost immediately from a corner thru Gareth Doherty. The changes were being wrong but the pattern of play stayed the same, Callum McDaid playing in a new position found himself one on one with keeper and produced a great finish from just outside the box, his celebration was a joy. Heaney then got his 2ND with a volley from 20 yds and then Miceal Clarke tapped in for 9. There was nearly a 10th when club captain Oran Doherty rattled the cross bar with an audacious overhead kick. Most impressive with 7 different scorers coming from forward, right wing, left wing and midfield positions. Well done boys

Boscos gk coach Jordan Keys on left and U17s keeper Caoimhain Moore on right were opponents last week in a game and it was the younger man who came out on top in a 3-0 win. Needless to say Jordan pushed him hard in training tonight in a spot of revenge. On another note it's good to see the numbers of young goalkeepers attending getting bigger. GK union onwards and upwards.
