wonderful staff fantastic food and service. I was served by Emmason who was a lovely friendly girl. I am moving to the area in 2 weeks and i can't wait to go back again and see all the lovely staff!!!!

Went for lunch today with three friends. The service was excellent, very friendly young lady, and the food was extremely tasty and cooked to perfection. price was good too

My partner martin Ramsbotham & I Had a beautifully cooked meal tonight with brilliant service was seated straight away & our orders taken 5 mins later gemma was the most helpful waitress! Thank you for the brilliant service all round! We loved it that much we plan a second trip in a few days!

Lovely food & they now cater for vegans. I understand from the staff they are more than willing & able to cater for gluten free. Service was very friendly also. A most enjoyable evening. Thank you.

Had a lovely chilled evening, service was fast and the cheesy fries were really cheesy! The team are lovely and friendly I will be back as long as I order from the bottom shelve.

We had gone from Southend for a drive and came across the pub . Lovely atmosphere helpful staff and food was excellent value for money

On arrival we were promised drinks at our table , 20 minutes later we were asked what we would like ! Had to ask for our food order to be taken , an hour later our food arrived ! Had to ask again where our second lot of drinks were and ask them to take our dessert order ! The desserts arrived 40 minutes later ....... The pub was busy and we were told the manger was away but still .... The young lad that was taking the orders ( eventually) really shouldn’t be doing that job , he didn’t know anything about the food and really isn’t cut out for that type of work !!! The food itself was nice but not really worth the wait .

Came here for Mother’s Day today. Food was lovely...service appalling. The place wasn’t busy and we waited around 45 minutes just for starters...which we’re all cold and had no cooking time to prepare them. In that time another table had had starters, mains AND left!!! No explanation as to why our starters were late either...Another larger party came in after us and were served starters and mains before we were. When paying the bill I was given 25% off which was deserved....however my mum checked the receipt and my deposit wasn’t given back to me. Which i then had to request to be given back... I could of walked out and been none the wiser. A real shame as previously we have really enjoyed our meal and time there.

Took the family here for Sunday lunch…bad mistake. We didn’t know about the invisibility shield of table 7! Waitress came and took our drinks order FAIRLY quickly. We then waited for over half an hour, my wife eventually went to the bar to request that someone come and take our order. Then we waited…and we waited. 45 minutes later our order arrived, looked OK. Then I bit into some of my “Yorkshire pudding” and got a horrible taste! Turns out it was my wife’s crackling, she had Pork, I had Beef. I do not like crackling…so what was my wife’s crackling, and her apples, doing on my plate??? That is just about the most unprofessional thing I have EVER seen in a restaurant!!! Then, from table 7 you can clearly hear tattoo-lady (manageress) SCREAMING at the staff in the kitchen, that’s a close second for unprofessional.



My wife rarely complains, she likes to make the best of things, but she said we should leave and have our dessert somewhere else. So she went up to the bar to pay, and she waited…and waited…the invisibility of table 7 clings to you for a while after you leave table 7. tattoo-lady, who had been enthusing over other tables (her favourites) looked at my wife waiting there twice and totally ignored her! After 15 minutes she was able to pay. As we were leaving there was no “thank you, please come again”, we weren’t tattoo-lady’s favourites, we just left.



Well tattoo-lady, you’ve been in the job long enough to have ironed out all the little problems…except as I see it the main problem is YOU! You can’t go round having favourites, ignoring other customers!!! WRONG FOOD ON WRONG PLATES! I can honestly say I’ve been to some dives in my time, but that has NEVER happened to me before!



We always used to love this place for it’s great food and service…no more, you’ve blown it! And don’t bother giving out one of your half-hearted apologies offering to “regain the faith”…you’ve lost us for good, with crap service, incompetence and FAVOURITISM! Oh, and did I mention un-professionalism?

Really poor experience today. Went for lunch which was booked at 12pm for 8 people. There food took over 2 hours to arrive, during this time we were not told there was a problem in the kitchen and we kept chasing. When the food arrived it was like warm, over cook and one of our parties food didn’t arrive until the rest of us had finished. Poor service and extremely poor food. Don’t go unless you want to be disappointed.

Just been for farthers day lunch. Bad service at one point was td our cab was hear just had starter well 2 of the 5 waited 1 hour for main to be given frozen pie. Cold salmon. Then told one of the meals will be 5 minutes. So the 4 of us started well tried but as said was cold. Will never go back.

Asked at the bar where to sit for table service, was directed to an area in the restaurant and was told waitress would be over to take our order in one moment !! 31 minutes later with no sign of being seen or any of the other 3 tables near to us , we left !!!!!

If you want good food with excellent service go down the road to the wheatsheaf !!!
