User

Went here today for my husbands birthday lunch, food was excellent and so was the service. Only one thing I would mention is that having air con on at the beginning of February (when it even started snowing outside at one point) made it slightly chilly and our food went cold pretty quick. However, it wasn’t big enough an issue for me to not give 5/5 stars. Will definitely return.

User

One of our favourite places to eat when we’re passing through. Great food and not your typical pub menu. Well worth a stop, just for the truffle mayo!

User

User

Excellent food and lovely atmosphere and polite and friendly staff had a really lovely afternoon

User

Absolutely incredible. Amazing food, beautifully decorated, lovely staff. We will absolutely be back when passing through again, this time with more people!

User

Yesterday my friend and I had lunch at The Dukes Head, and it was very nice indeed. Mainly I would just like to say how nice it was to have staff who greeted us with a genuine welcome and nothing appeared to be too much trouble for them. A really refreshing change! Thank you, keep up the great customer service! :-) I will definitely be coming back. xx

Seems to be a theme for slow service, we did not experience that, thought service was very good, maybe we got lucky. Was disappointed that both my first choice main and dessert were not available, that would be standard dishes of cod and chips, apple crumble. Ended up having a pizza, which was nice but felt rather aggrieved to pay £3.95 for a side of chips which was basically one potato. So in summary, will go again, but could be better.

User

Nipped in with hubby for an impromptu lunch and it was lovely. We were told the chicken pie would take 25 mins so my husband chose again. Nice food - a little wait but a good bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc eased that 🙂 Good desserts too. Lovely waitress 👍🏻

User

Great setting, lovely restaurant and staff. Bit miffed that at 7pm on a quiet Thursday night that they didn't have our first choice starter (Camembert) and then came back to say they also had no dauphinois potatoes that were meant to accompany my main!!! Was also extremely slow service. Food, albeit not first choice, was actually v good. Need to get the basics right.

User

Although the decor is nice unfortunately the service was a little slow and the drinks order and one of the main courses were wrong. The food was not piping hot and description on menu (honey glazed carrots and baked onion in garlic) with the roasts was not what was served. The meat however was tender and the meal flavoursome. Service not bad enough to put me off going again as it was fairly good value for money but they do need to improve the speed of service and consistency and accuracy of the menu.

User

Very slow service, we waited an hour and a half for our meals. We even had to keep chasing for our drinks orders as we kept getting the wrong drinks delivered to the table.

Three people on our table had the wagyu burger which all three came out burnt black and dry. The restaurant also managed to get a few of the orders wrong. I ordered the pork belly and scollops which came out burnt, hard as a rock and the fat was chewy, not melt in the mouth like pork belly is supposed to be.

Overall pretty terrible meal and won’t be returning.

Felt sorry for for the waitress who was pretty rushed all night. I think the orders kept going wrong too as they all had to take the orders on an iPhone which took a long time.

User

Service incredibly slow, practically had to beg for our order to be taken, busy but not so busy that several times two waitresses were stood chatting while we were waiting for our food order to be taken, just literally looked straight over our heads as if we wasn’t there, food was average and definitely wouldn’t return, very disappointed as this meal was for my husbands birthday.

Sent food back as the meze was 3 dips and bread for £13

Pizza was raw and chicken I would hazard a guess was reheated due to it being like jerky.

Shame as usually good

User

Last time we had dry sea bass, this time we had dry linguine ! Plus the waiter poured a whole bottle of tonic in my glass of gin??? Couldn't taste the gin! Had to take it back. Paid cash for first round as didn't know where we were going to sit and then got charged for it in our tab bill! Didn't notice until already paid - they offered to refund but John told him to keep it as a tip (sarcasm) but not to take us as mugs! Won't be going back me thinks. Shame as pub is in nice location and not cheap. Left feedback on their website we will see if they have anything to say.

User

Had a lunch break so very limited time but still 1 hour and 30 min for proper meal. So we ordered 2 starters and one main along with bottle of wine. 30 min we were waiting for the starter and people around had order food after us were already eating.I have asked what is going on with the main course so have been told isn’t ready as we are still eating the starters. Before that no one came outside to check. At the end the main came and even waw wrong order so they offered to change it but we didn’t have time to wait. We have received refund for the main but it was very disappointing. The weather was lovely but we had horrible lunch break...

User

Don't try and get in touch by Facebook, takes ages for anyone to get back to you, and then they tell you to phone rather than deal with your message. Unfortunately nobody answers the phone! Disappointed not to be able to book a table in the bar, despite asking this originally by fb message and not getting an answer.
