The Academy

The Academy has been developed for over 25 years and was officially named and founded as an organisation in 2001, by a group of dedicated instructors who had a common goal. The aim was to take the most practical martial art and self defence techniques and combine them into a comprehensive self-development program, that was enjoyable to learn, that develops fitness and strength whilst being useful in the modern urban world.

Is it for me?

The Academy is tailored to you, whether you are a 4 year old child, a teenager, a young adult, a women needing the tools to be safe in her every day life or an adult wishing to take the skills we provide to a higher level. We provide a broad approach to self defence and martial arts, allowing you to train without restriction and because not every one wishes long term training, we provide short specialist courses as well as long term development.

Instructors

We have developed an instructors' training program that ensures consistent and high quality teaching. Instructors give positive feedback to students and encourage students to give positive feedback to each other too. All instructors are qualified and insured through their professional bodies and are DBS checked, first aid qualified and have done necessary child protection courses.

We pride ourselves on our safety record, it is important to understand the level of contact in our classes are guided and dictated by you. Whatever your age and ability we wish you to feel safe which leads to confidence and a conducive learning environment.
