It is one of the busiest non terminal stations in London and it is also one of the busiest non-terminal through stations in the United Kingdom. It is one of three railway stations in the London Borough of Croydon with Croydon in their name, the others being West Croydon and South Croydon. Along with Kensington Olympia, East Croydon was until 13 December 2008 one of two stations in London served by CrossCountry.
