''The Dutch are more satisfied with their lives than most. When asked to rate their general satisfaction with life on a scale from 0 to 10, Dutch people gave it a 7.4 grade on average, higher than the OECD average of 6.5.'' ''Ik verklaar dat ik de grondwettelijke orde van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden, haar vrijheden en rechten respecteer en beloof de plichten die het staatsburgerschap met zich meebrengt getrouw te vervullen. Dat verklaar en beloof ik,'' so 30 new Dutchmen and women declared at the Embassy in London. 🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️
Congratulations to those who have made this pledge in the Dutch language which included the hard pronunciations of the Dutch letters G and R. While a small number obtained... the nationality through the process of 'naturalisation,' many others became Dutch by choosing the 'option procedure,' to follow the footsteps of their parents or grandparents.
🇳🇱 Deputy Ambassador Brechje Schwachofer presented the new nationals with citizenship documents after they made the pledge of solidarity in which they promise to respect the freedoms and rights that come with being Dutch and to fulfill the obligations of citizenship.

The Netherlands is a cool place to live, work and study. Especially the 🇬🇧 students in higher education coming to the Netherlands know this well as they are the 5th largest incoming group of international students in the country. 🇳🇱️ Students, on the other hand, aspire to study in the United Kingdom so much that it has been their second preferred place to study abroad for at least a decade (https://www.nuffic.nl/en/subjects/facts- and-figures/).
But while we rejoice the strong... Anglo-Dutch relationship in this area, 260 million of our next generation in the rest of the world have limited or no access to education. As the world celebrated the first #InternationalDayofEducation🎓 yesterday, the Netherlands raised this issue which is too significant to ignore by acting as a core contributor to Education Cannot Wait, a new global fund for education in crisis.

It’s been 350 years since 🇳🇱🎨 Master Rembrandt left his legacy in the world. Nearly 20 art exhibitions throughout the Netherlands will take place in 2019 and 2020 to celebrate the Baroque painter of the Dutch Golden Age. Many museums will tell the story of Rembrandt and his peers, and enrich visitors with a rare understanding of Holland and its illustrious history, which however also had its darker sides. From Middelburg, all the way up to Hoorn and Enkhuizen, the history of ...the Dutch Golden Age is still very much alive.
The largest collection of Rembrandt in the world will be shown in its entirety to the public for the first time in history. Rijksmuseum Director Taco Dibbits held the press briefing for the upcoming exhibition ‘All the Rembrandts’ at the Dutch Ambassador’s Residence in London last Friday. More than 400 works can be admired from 15 February and on. After which the restoration of Rembrandt’s iconic work ‘The Night Watch’ will commence under the world’s gaze. Encased in a clear glass chamber, conservators will restore the painting for everyone to follow the entire process.

"Euthanasia has been legal in the Netherlands for long enough to show what can happen after the practice beds in", writes Christopher de Bellaigue in The Guardian. What lessons can be learnt by governments in other countries that are thinking of legalizing euthanasia? Come to the Dutch Centre on 23 January for a discussion with Christopher de Bellaigue, Dutch end-of-life specialist Bert Keizer and journalist Sander Paulus, whose moving documentary ‘The Last Days of Aurelia Brouwers’ made both Dutch and British news headlines.

The Dutch are well known for being the second largest exporter of agricultural goods in the world. But did you know the United Kingdom is the 3rd largest export destination for our agricultural goods? In 2018, €8.6 billion worth of products were exported to the UK out of a total of €90.3 billion, as joint research by Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek and Wageningen University & Research shows. Ornamental horticulture, dairy and eggs, meat, and vegetables make up most of the ...export value. 🥦🌷🥚
🇳🇱 Minister for Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality Carola Schouten: ‘We’re keen to put our expertise and powers of innovation to good use in order to make the transition to circular agriculture. This will give a boost to the agricultural innovation in the Netherlands that continues to bolster our position on the global market. And that’s urgently needed, in view of the global issues vis-à-vis growing demand for food on the one hand and our responsibility for the landscape, biodiversity and climate change on the other’.
