Are you wanting to start a home yoga practice but you’re unsure how to go about it? A strong self-practice compliments the time spent in the studio as it allows you to build on what you learn in class and gives you a space to explore areas that require more attention, however to get the most from your self-practice it’s important to understand some of the fundamental elements.
In this workshop led by Tash Sekar we will explore the different approaches to yoga outside the clas...sroom, and Tash will share suggestions on how and when to set up your home practice and how to structure your sessions. Starting with a gentle yoga flow, we will explore Asana (physical postures) and then move onto more subtle or lesser known aspects of yoga including Pranayama (breath work) and Meditation.
For Tash, being able to practice yoga at home has been one of the most significant turning points in her physical and mental well-being, and in this workshop she hopes to share the tools to not only listen inwardly and make informed decisions about how you feel, but also how to translate that into a well-rounded yoga practice that will leave you feeling your best. NEW WORKSHOP 🌿🌷🌼 CLEAR & ENERGISED: A Spring Yin & Yoga Nidra Workshop 🌿 Saturday 23rd March at Embody Wellness | 2.00pm to 4.00pm | £25 🌼 In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) there are Five Elements that are central to nature’s cycles and are reflected in the cycles of our bodies.
Wood is linked to Spring and the Liver and Gallbladder. Like Springtime, the Wood element is about awakening, rebirth and renewal, and is linked to our imagination and vision.
... The Liver is very important in TCM, described as ‘the General of the army’. Energetically the Liver is in charge of the smooth flow of Qi (energy) through the body, which allows us to create and execute change, while the Gallbladder, is associated with our ability to follow our own path without being put off by outside influences.
Part one of this workshop will be a Liver and Gallbladder yin practice to help address Qi stagnation. In this slow practice, each pose typically lasts three to five minutes. This will prepare us for part two of the workshop – an extended yoga nidra practice.
The emotion connected to the Liver is anger, so when Liver/Gallbladder Qi is balanced, we can feel a greater sense of emotional calm, discernment and empathy. We are less weighed down by day-to-day stresses and more proactive in creating positive growth and expansion in our lives.
This workshop is open to all levels, however it is not suitable for pregnant students.
