Er Sports Therapy Description

About me:

I am a Sports Therapist, Sports & Remedial Masssage Therapist and Kinesio Taping ambassador.

I offer a wide range of treatments ranging from injury assessment and rehabilitation to sports massage, sports therapy, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, electrotherapy, acupuncture and kinesio taping.

I am proud to be the Sports Therapist to the Invicta Dynamos Ice Hockey Team and I have also previously worked as part of the medical team to Charlton Athletic FC.

My journey:

I first studied on horses back in 2004, where after years of learning, I wanted to transfer my skills onto people. I passed my first massage exam back in 2008 and never looked back, going on to train in Sports Massage. I joined the SMA (Sports Massage Association) in 2009.

After this i was hooked and I took on several other courses, Kinesio Taping, where I was lucky enough to be trained by the amazing Dr Kenzo Kase and undertook courses in Myofacial release therapy, but that wasn’t enough!

I wanted to know more. I wanted to be a Sports Therapist and have MSST after my name.

At the back end of 2011, I called the Society of Sports Therapist’s. The tradition route was via University doing a 3 year degree course, but I had a young son, held a full time job in the shipping industry plus had a household to run so this route was out of the question. They were really helpful and as I was already qualified to a good standard, they put me in touch with Active Health Group to go onto a level 5 Diploma course.

The course was intensive and I had to do this in my own time, take time off for lessons, practical classes, take on team work to get my placement hours plus do hours upon hours of study. It didn’t put me off and I enrolled in 2012. I was halfway to achieving my goal.

Finally, 7 years after starting, in October 2014, after the best part of over 2000 hours of studying, hours of practical work, multiple practical and theory exams, hours of team work with a semi professional Ice Hockey Team to get my placement hours in, I finally fully qualified. I had become a Sports Therapist! I joined the SST (Society of Sports Therapists) as a full member soon after

I have been lucky enough to work with some amazing teams in the Invicta Dynamos and Charlton Athletic but I am also a Kinesio Taping Ambassador.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my journey, as my moral is never give up! You want something that badly - then go get it!
