Ethiopia’s vast landscape is composed of every known environment from desert (Denekel depression (-153°) to icy mountain peak (Mount Dashen 4620m)). Much of the country is a giant plateau of 2500 meters above sea level reaching well above 4000 meters in many places.
Ethiopian plateau forms the watershed of some of the most beauKful rivers on the planet, including the awesome Blue Nile River and the equally exciKng Omo River. Rising in the highlands, Southwest of the capital of Addis Ababa. The Omo River flows south for 1000 kilometers but never reaches the sea. It is the sole river source of Lake Turkana, (East Africa’s fourth largest lake), which it enters just above the Kenya border.
