We have found ourselves ā€˜snowed inā€™ for an extra 2 days. Although the staff have had to stay themselves and been on Skeleton staff, the service has been excellent throughout. Most of them have had to stay & havenā€™t been home themselves, Iā€™m amazed that nothing has been too much trouble for them AND with a smile. All the staff have been professional to the end. A big thank you to Colin Miller the transport manager for being nothing short of excellent and Sarah Schlereth (head of events) for being amazing. Thank-you to every member of staff working and making our stay as comfortable as possible. I couldnā€™t recommend this hotel enough. From Jo and the 15 members of H&R Healthcare that are hoping to get home soon!

User

We had an amazing stay as an early celebration for our ten year wedding anniversary. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are very attentive and the food was fabulous. We were giving an upgraded room which made our stay even more special.

User

We had a fantastic weekend at the Fairmont where we were warmly welcomed back by David Nugent and the team. The room was outstanding with a stunning view of the sea and very spacious. The service was exceptional from check in, to the leisure suite to breakfast then check out. The leisure facilities were first class with a lovely hot swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Didnā€™t use the gym this time as we were far too chilled out. Although, after a huge cooked breakfast and pancakes I think I may need to find a gym fast now we have arrived back home, thoroughly relaxed and refreshed. Roll on our next stay! Worth every penny and more.

User

This was our first visit to celebrate our anniversary The hotel is stunning, our room was both spacious and luxurious plus the staff were attentive but not intrusive. We just wished we had stayed longer but we will definitely be back.

User

Stayed last night for our anniversary on a dinner, bed and breakfast package. Very happy with our room and with the hotel in general. Treated ourselves to a massage, which left us feeling very relaxed. Had dinner in the Bar and Grill in the clubhouse, where the food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

User

My husband & I enjoyed a lovely 1 night stay to celebrate my birthday. From the courtesy pre-arrival call from Lucas to the first class service from our server Padraig the whole stay was delightful. Lucas made us feel so welcome before we had even arrived in St Andrews we were full of anticipation and we were not disappointed. The little personal touches for my birthday were a lovely surprise. Our suite was beautiful clean with a wonderful view. We dined at La Cucina which was delicious. The antipasti was amazing. Spa was spotless a truly relaxing experience. Thank you Fairmont for 5* service. Cannot wait to return.

User

Lovely stay away to celebrate my partners birthday!! We stayed for a couple of nights, and i had arranged for chocolate strawberries on a plate saying happy birthday; which was organised beautifully! The room was beautiful, especially the bathroom! The bed was super comfy and the room had everything we needed! Breakfast was so good; we both agreed its the best breakfast we have ever had! The concierge team are lovely and very helpful when organising to go into the town or booking taxis. It was also a very nice treat to start of the celebrations with a free drink each; which we could use in Kittockā€™s Den which is a lovely relaxing bar. We will definitely be back in the near future and definitely recommend!

User

Just back from a fantastic weekend at the Fairmont to celebrate my husband's 50th Birthday. We arrived to find a lovely little cake for him and were invited to enjoy some complimentary Prosecco in the bar. We went to the Spa and thoroughly enjoyed using all the facilities. The staff are so polite and helpful and the room was fantastic - huge comfy bed and the bathroom was luxurious. We also used the free shuttle bus into town, and got a bus back which stops just outside thr driveway. All in all excellent and we will be back as soon as we get the opportunity!

User

Had the best time here for our ten year wedding anniversary last week. Suite was amazing, staff couldnā€™t do enough for us and the spa was wonderful. So relaxing. Canā€™t wait to return again ļæ½

User

From the minute we arrived to the minute we left we were treated exceptionally. A special touch of an anniversary cake sent to our room was lovely. The shuttle bus into St.Andrews was great and the staff couldnt do enough for us. This was our first visit & hopefully wont be our last. Thank you.

User

First time at this hotel and was really looking forward to it. Wasnā€™t disappointed, from Tam the concierge to all the staff during our stay - they were all first class. Lovely spacious room and beautiful bathroom with separate shower. Breakfast was wonderful and dinner in the Italian was lovely. Beautiful pool etc and lots of nice quiet seating areas if you just want to chill and read etc. Will definitely be back.

User

Lovely stay to celebrate wedding anniversary, upgraded room and complimentary glass of prossecco. Disappointed with food and service in La Cusina restaurant, penne arrabiata tasteless and no hint of chilli. Apologies for slow service as restaurant busy but this is a 5starvhotelmand they know how many tables are reserved so should be on top of this. Lovely breakfast, plenty of choice.

User

Love the Fairmont this is the third time weā€™ve been back! The only issue we had was we decided to have lunch at the bar we only fancied a sandwich but the choices werenā€™t great.

We asked if we could have a vegetarian bagel but the only option was cheese with piccalilli. When I asked if they could do cheese and tomato the answer was no! They offered just the cheese bagel without the piccalilli. For a 5 star hotel I thought they would have been a bit more helpful!

User

Very disappointed when we arrived to be told that the pool, sauna etc were Closed off due to upgrading work being carried out As this is part of the whole experience staying at the Fairmont we felt a bit short changed. The accommodation was arranged and paid for by our daughter and sons as a present to us and both felt that the hotel as a gesture of goodwill should perhaps have offered to refund some of the money to them. At the very least an offer of compensation e.g. bottle of wine with dinner??

We then ordered a coffe with a scone. The coffee arrived but we had to ask some time later for the scone and again had to ask for butter to go with it!

Our order for a pint of guinness and a glass of wine was somehow brought as a pint of lager and a glass of wine

These points may seem picky but I was amysed to see on the Fairmont website that their ā€œ5 star service and attention to detail was second to none.ā€ Reallyy????

All in all a pretty disappointing experience and I donā€™ think we will be back

Second year in a row we have stayed for a couple of days to celebrate my birthday. Last year the service was excellent which is why we returned, however, this year was hit or miss. First night was great. They very kindly offered me a glass of prosecco on check in and they sent a birthday cake up to our room about 30 mins later. We had a lazy start to the day on Friday and didn't leave our room until 2pm. we returned about 5:30pm and our room hadn't been serviced. We had to call down for extra toilet roll as our room hadn't been refreshed. We went out around an hour later for the evening and had expected housekeeping wouldve been in since we called down but they hadn't. We were then woken up and evacuated from our room just after midnight. We exited the rear stair but there were no staff to be seen so no-one knew where to go. Eventually we all migrated to the front carpark and only saw a staff member when we were given the ok to go inside. No-one knew what was happening and we were all just standing about in the atrium. In the morning we were woken up early to our phone ringing once intermittently which was very annoying and we were then evacuated again! This time a lot more staff around but still no-one telling anyone anything. Hats off to the woman from check-in who seemed to be the only member of staff tending to guests. She handed out towels and robes to people who had been evacuated whilst in the pool. We checked out shortly after being allowed back in to the hotel and didn't receive and explanation or an apology or even if we had enjoyed our stay. A poor experience and ending to my birthday weekend.

Not quite the five star I was expecting. I booked an overnight stay with 20% off spa or golf and with Ā£28.50 off our dinner. First things first, the doorman who helped us with her luggage was extremely friendly and helpful and the staff on reception. Our room was absolutely fab, no complaints apart from one minor one which we highlighted with reception the following morning. Treatments at the spa were fab. There is a pool and jacuzzi but nothing fancy and they donā€™t have enough loungers. They have these fancy sofas which could maybe be replaced with more loungers. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the dinner served at the restaurant La Cucina. I was actually surprised that the hotel doesnā€™t have a main hotel restaurant. Our plates were served cold, we asked if they could heat them up. Secondly we had ordered deep fried calamari, it was served not fully cooked as the calamari was still very soft and then our main meal which one of us ordered lamb cutlets and instead of being served with the delicate lamb cutlets you would expect, we were served with three very large door stoppers of what looked liked lamb chops which were not very appetising. As we were on a deal in the end we did not have to pay towards any of the meal but we would much rather have enjoyed our meal and paid the money with having the Ā£28.50 off, so in the end, having this been our first time to the Fairmont St Andrews and it being a treat it ended up being somewhat of a big disappointment sadly which unfortunately wouldnā€™t make me want to rush back.

My daughter and I stayed at the Fairmont on 28 and 29th March ...it was a birthday /Motherā€™s Day treat ...this was my 1st experience of staying at a 5 star hotel ... as soon as we arrived I was impressed...the doorman and the staff at the front of house were very welcoming ...the Spa was excellent ...the restaurant which we had booked for our first evening was very nice also ...on our 2nd day stay we headed into town on the mini bus the hotel provides for guests...on our return at 20.00 hrs we headed straight to our room for the night and I couldnā€™t believe our room keys wouldnā€™t open the door 3053 we headed back down to reception where the problem was handled and the keys replaced after a 20 min wait ...when we got into our room we noticed right away our room had not been serviced ..the beds were not made up ...for a 5 star resort this is just unexplainable..I phoned reception and they were sending someone up straight away to service the room ...after 30 min wait still no service ..as we wanted to relax for the night ,I called and told them we were retiring for the night and didnā€™t want to be disturbed further and the receptionist Joanne was very apologetic ...so my first stay at at 5 star hotel gets 3 stars from me ...I think I will be sticking to 4 star in future ...

User

Just checked out from a lovely overnight stay in room 1010. Service and staff were excellent. Our first visit for our first anniversary experience marred slightly by blood stains on a pillow case and mould visible in the ladies shower cubicle, however. Not at all what I expected from a hotel of this calibre and not a patch on The Gleneagles Hotel in terms of pool and fitness area. Meal and service in La Cucina and at breakfast were very nice and staff very attentive.

I visited on 14 March as a Motherā€™s Day Afternoon Tea Treat from my daughter. I must say although the table was lovely set with beautiful china I was disappointed with the sandwiches and the carrot cake. The sandwiches were quite cold and did not feel fresh. The carrot cake was also cold and stodgy and was not nice at all. I do not usually leave a negative review but in this case I feel it is justified spoiling my outing with my daughter.
