Fr Mark Vickers will present to us on the topic of Jesus' redemptive sacrifice which takes our sins away addressing the curiosity surrounding Jesus' death on the cross. Why was it "necessary that the Messiah must suffer and rise" (Acts 17:3)? How can we understand and explain to others this central tenet of Catholic belief? Fr Mark Vickers is a former barrister who trained for the priesthood at The Venerable English College in Rome and is currently parish priest of Holy Ghost and St Stephen, Shepherds Bush. He is a contributor to Faith Magazine and has authored two recent books on aspects of English Church history.

THANKS FATHER PHIL! Chapter three in our four part series last night involved Fr Phil Cunnah introducing us to key Messianic texts in the scriptures. It was both theological in its highlighting the Primacy of Christ in creation and spiritual in reminding us of Jesus' invitation to experience his healing love in prayer. Thanks to all who came along and we look forward to seeing you again in two weeks' time for our final talk in the series by Fr Mark Vickers.

Fr Philip Cunnah is coming to speak to us about the evidence for the claim we make as Catholics that Jesus was not just a gifted human being but the Son of God. Fr Philip was ordained four years ago upon completion of his studies at Oscott Seminary in Birmingham. He is a priest for the diocese of Middlesbrough looking after Schools' Chaplaincy and is also Bishop's Secretary. He is a very clear and intelligent speaker whom we're delighted to be able to welcome during this series.

"ALEXA, SHOW ME YOUNG CATHOLICS!" Thanks to Canon Luiz Ruscillo for travelling down from Lancashire to speak to us yesterday evening. We were taken on a journey through the Old Testament surveying the story of God's covenant with His chosen people of Israel. It was greatly appreciated by our audience of 43 young Catholics from across the City. With the opportunity to ask questions and make new friends over a glass of wine our series continues to attract so, if you're yet to attend, come along and bring your friends! We meet again in two weeks' time when we'll be given reasons for why we can confidently call Jesus "The Christ"!

WE'RE BACK! Connecting young Catholics from across the city we launched our new series on Jesus last night with a talk by Fr Matthew O'Gorman entitled "We were made for Jesus". Fr Matthew explained how it's possible to make this claim with confidence in a scientific age. Good to see so many new faces! Make sure you come back for the next chapter in the series when Fr Luiz Ruscillo will visit us to speak on "Israel and the Messiah"!

Is the Church against equality for women? Why has the Church consistently taught that the priesthood is reserved for men alone? In the last talk of our very successful Controversies series we welcome Fr Kevin Douglas who will come to explain the theological foundation of the all male priesthood in the Catholic Church. Bring yourselves and your questions for what will be a thought provoking evening!
