i have been here today with my husband and son for mothers day and although it was packed solid (11.30 am ) long que at the tills we were served in a matter of minuets and apologied to for the wait. the bar staff were polite and curtius , the waiting staff came and asked us if our meal (carvery ) was ok , we coudnt fault it. the same lady then saw we had finished our meals cleared our plates and asked if we wanted deserts, witch we did, she brould them to us so we could take home, thanks for a great mothers day will definatly be returning.

User

My kids took me for Mother’s Day. We arrived megga early as we knew it would be busy and it was. We were able to choose where we sat and were able to sit away from people walking past all the time. Although the table was being cleaned as we stood there, the waitress apologised and asked if we had been before (which we had) and if we knew what to do. We beat the queues to pay for the food which was getting huge! The staff throughout were always polite and kept apologising for the delay. We got our food without having to queue for it and it was all piping hot and lots of it. There really was nothing to fault. The waitress came back and asked if were were ok and anything she could get for us. We did have to decline the offer of desert as we were stuffed. All in all it was very quick but that was our choice...we’d eaten too much and wanted to get back to relax. It was an enjoyable lunch and the food good and hot. Try it! It’s great value for money. 😊

Myself and my partner were greeted by a very polite gentleman on our entrance. We were seated and my partner proceeded to order our meals at the bar. The same gentleman did exactly the same for another couple and sat them across from us.

As they sat down they made a derogatory comment about the gentleman stating he was camp as hell and very scary. Upon hearing this I took a minute to think about his words and decided to tell the gentleman what they had said and that I’d like to be moved, as I didn’t want to sit across from someone with obvious homophobia. The gentleman apologised for this and offered us another table, I couldn’t get my breath.. he apologised.. he had nothing to apologise for yet he had the decency to excuse their nasty comments..

I will never stand by and hear such nastiness against anyone no matter what!

User

I can’t fault the food, the carvery was lovely with plenty of choice of vegetables compared to other farmhouse inns. Also, got cakeaway and the portions are huge, so well worth the money compared to other places.

The only bad thing is that the carvery spoons are ridiculously hot, which is dangerous. They used to have oven glove material around the spoons which was better. I wouldn’t want someone to burn their hand because of something which can easily be solved.

User

Did not know how to rate our meal today. Myself wife and son had a lovely meal and my wife ordered a trifle to take away same as 2 weeks ago which was spot on. On getting home today may wife was shocked it was half the size with cling film for the lid. Very disappointed and will think twice if to return.

User

There was a group of 12 Sunday 1st July 2018. Those who had the carvery enjoyed it. The rest of us had an hour wait for our orders. When it eventually came it was poor. I had the mix and match scampi and rump steak. Steak was as tough as old boots, obviously been under the lights in the kitchen for far too long. The chips were awful, not fresh at all. A few tinned mushrooms, not fresh. My mum had the quiche, too dry. Overall, I would not recommend this establishment if you are in a group. Probably, lack of staff and leadership. Sweets/ puddings were good, but they are not hard to organise.

User

Just got back after a meal for my stepdads birthday. Big queue to order which is fair enough but my meal came I had rump steak and it was cold, sent it back and waited another 15-20 mins it came and still not hot just warm. I didn’t want to wait again so I kept it. Brother in law had mix grill and the steak was cold on that. My sister had wrong pie come out, they sent steak n kidney which she can’t stand. So had to order and wait for another meal for her. Not the greatest meal at all unfortunately

User

I've been to Kings Mill farm on several occasions for lunches, dinner and numerous cake dates. Always found both the staff and food to be excellent...until I went for breakfast with my husband last Friday. It really wasn't nice at all, cold, either cremated or under cooked and everything tasted greasy. The sausages are foul. Very disappointed.

User

went 13/3/18.4 of us. ordered our food,2 carvery's ,one 'fish supper' and one chicken strips (from starter's)with chips. well our dinner was lovely the chef serving the meat was pleasant and chatty, then the chicken strips came....no chips, the waitress took it back and brought it back on a plate with chips...but without the side salad it came with 1st time...asked for salad so she brought some in a dish-fine. no sign of the other meal...then it arrived...burnt ( or just well done as we was told) but there was no bread & butter, asked where it was and she said"didnt know if you wanted brown or white so didnt bother with it".....Erm why not just ASK! eventually brown was brought out...... The waitress must have been having a bad day because her manner and attitude was terrible. when we was finished we decided to take cake home. Stood waiting at the cake counter for 10 min...had to ask Adam the floor manager i believe if we could be served and was told "i only have 3 staff on,its busy" YES i know i said but i would like to go home with my cake please ...he tutted and served us much to his annoyance it seems. All in all the food ( carvery) couldnt be faulted. cant say same for the other 2 orders and as for the service ....SHOCKING!! ... be awhile before i even think about going again.

User

totally disgusted with the food today chips nearly black shepards pie like a bowl of mush as soon as the lady put the plates on the table and noticed our faces she offered to replace them but did not have time to wait promptly left the food and the building really disappointed as use this place a lot as undergoing treatment at kingsmill and this is very close safe to say i will not be coming back

User

Well we’re do I start ! From entering to leaving. Firstly the bar service was extremely slow but granted it was busy and didn’t notice the time go by waiting for a table thankfully. We was seated in the kids area as we had the grandkids so expected it to be more lively but not as dirty as it was! The menus were stuck together and the floor covered in food , the kids play area wasn’t what I saw advertised on the website it was rubbish with all the pay rides etc ! The toilets were absolutely disgusting with 2 clogged up with paper ! When the food arrived it was not just Burnt it was cremated and the garlic bread was rock solid , we did send some of the things back but it was a forever wait , my grandsons fishfingers were that burnt they didn’t have any fish in them ! They said they would bring more out but they never did ! I did make the manager aware how vile the food was and I think it just fell on deaf ears! Bearing in mind we actually travelled 45 minutes to go there as the website was appealing ! Very false advertising ! Never again unless they get a new chef and cleaner!

User

Well after visiting here before and having a lovely meal we decided for my father's birthday we would come again. What a let down food was over cooked and cold, 3 pints of beer to get 1 drinkable one. The response from the manager was would you like your meals replacing when we said no he just walked off. Poor food...poor beer.. poor service...but the waitress was was very shocked at the quality and tried her best to help

User

We visited here on Wednesday with my elderly mum and cousin.. Mum ordered a starter so we had to wait for our mains which had obviously been sat on side why Mum ate her starter my peas were cold ham was crisp and only had about 6 chips I know the ham egg chips is cheap but expect few more chips than I got.. Mum had prawn cocktail starter and no cutlery was brought out I asked the front of house Man twice for some in end had to ask waitress to get me some.. she returned with a desert spoon, this is unacceptable service. We normally visit here at least once a week it’s mums birthday Tuesday and unfortunately we won’t be returning. This used to be a nice place to eat and I don’t listen to other people about experiences, but should have done because it cost us 3 over £40 for a poor standard meal so we won’t be returning.

Very disappointed customer

User

We had a meal from the menu 3 of us .

Two had shepherds pie one had chicken escollop.

The first two meals shepherds pies we had to send back as they were cold in the middle.

After 20 mins they brought new meals out which they had re-fried the chips which were black and hard ,the carrots were cold and the pies were discusting. And we couldn't eat it .

Was a wast of £36.00 . All they kept saying was were very sorry .but no refund.

We will never go back again so they have lost out on at least 10 meals a week with family and friends who used to go but not now .

It was not eatable

User

Shocking service.... not only did no one come to our table to make sure everything was ok ... which may I add was not ( wanted sauces and forks as none on table ) so we have to go find someone !! But also dirty plates and glasses left on tables for ages.

I had to complain about my meal as it was cremated and def not gluten free seen as he stuck onion rings on plate !!! ... then the member of staff never came back to the table so then we had find someone again ... when you go out for a meal you should be made to feel looked after and welcomed ... only good thing was the cake. And staff need brush up on gluten free and allergy stuff as the guy didn’t have a clue or seemed to care .

User

Booked a table for our sons 13th birthday. Luckily we went earlier in the day to drop off cake and balloons only to be told there was no booking in the diary!!! We were then rebooked in for a table of 8.

We arrived only to be told our table had been given away so we’re asked to wait while they set up another table - all the while other people were coming in and being seated while we had to wait for our reservation!!!

Service throughout our visit was slow and our food all came out separately so half the table had finished eating when the last orders came out (which we had to ask about).

The food was dry and burnt - the burgers were crozzled.

In the end we gave up and asked for the cake to take home without singing happy birthday despite speaking to a member of staff twice about bringing out the cake and candles. Very poor service and food. Really disappointed as previous experiences have been better.

Been here today on my Sisters treat for my Birthday. Luckily I had turkey and gammon which was fine. My Sister and Brother in Law had the beef which was so tough it was inedible. My Brother in Law complained when the quality lady came round and she said sorry and that he could have some more but he had almost finished by this time. When they came to collect the plates my Sister told them again and there was almost the full portion left on both their plates. The girl did apologise. We sat there another 10 to 15 minutes and no one came to sort anything out so we walked out.
