The sun rose over the sweep of the hill All bare for the gathered hay, And a blackbird sang by the window-sill, And a girl knelt down to pray: ‘Whom Thou hast kept through the night, O Lord,... Keep Thou safe through the day.’
The sun rose over the shell-swept height, The guns are over the way, And a soldier turned from the toil of the night To the toil of another day, And a bullet sang by the parapet To drive in the new-turned clay.
The sun sank slow by the sweep of the hill, They had carried all the hay, And a blackbird sang by the window-sill, And a girl knelt down to pray: ‘Keep Thou safe through the night, O Lord, Whom Thou hast kept through the day.’
The sun sank slow by the shell-swept height, The guns had prepared a way, And a soldier turned to sleep that night Who would not wake for the day, And a blackbird flew from the window-sill, When a girl knelt down to pray.

Tiger Woods equalled the PGA Tour record of 82 tournament wins with victory at the Zozo Championship.
The 43-year-old world number 10 had seven holes to finish in Japan on Monday as he matched fellow American Sam Snead's record, set in 1965.
It was his first event since having his fifth knee operation nine weeks ago.
... In April, Woods won his first major for 11 years with victory at the Masters, leaving him three short of Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major titles.
Snead was aged 52 when he won for the final time on the PGA Tour, while Nicklaus was 46 when he lifted the last of his major trophies.

Lee Ann Walker received 58 penalty shots in the Senior LPGA Championship as she discovered not keeping up to date with rule changes can be costly.
The American broke a rule brought in this year banning caddies from standing behind players to line up shots.
Her playing partners noted the error on the fifth hole of her second round and she had to go back over her previous holes to tally up her infringements.
... Meanwhile, Englishman Paul Casey escaped being penalised when a putt at a tournament he won by one shot in Germany went over a bug on the way in.
As Casey's ball accidentally went over the bug he did not have to retake the shot.

There was so much to celebrate in a dramatic European Solheim Cup victory that generated iconic golfing memories that will last a lifetime.
As the Scottish sun shone and Suzann Pettersen cast a lengthy shadow on Gleneagles' 18th green before holing the winning putt, the sport could not have asked for a better climax.
Here was a stand-alone women's sporting event that had generated huge crowds and those 90,000 spectators were rewarded with genuine, spine-tingling sporting dram...a.
The form of Georgia Hall & Celine Boutier (another inspired wildcard) who both won four matches out of four provide further cause for celebration - especially for the English player, who has struggled for much of this year.

Thanks to Molinari, compelling evidence has been revealed showing which players have been playing most slowly on the European Tour this year.
We know that two South Africans - 2010 Open winner Louis Oosthuizen and Erik van Rooyen - and Spain's Adrian Otaegui have been fined for slow play.
They are among 54 players who were recorded for time breaches in tour events that included the Masters and World Golf Championships.
... Others on the list include Woods, Henrik Stenson, Bernhard Langer and Bryson DeChambeau.
This all came to light because of the five hours 30 minutes it took Molinari to play a round in Morocco last week.
