Firehead Editions Description
Firehead Editions is a Trans-Atlantic publishing partnership with creative members located in the United Kingdom and the United States.
We seek to provide distinctive, captivating and practical original works for amateur and professional musicians alike, specialising in resources for liturgical and concert performance.
As distinguished artists working in the church, we have extensive experience in composing, conducting and performing music for liturgy. This website serves as a resource for the new music we have created for our choirs, organists, and chamber ensembles. We hope this music will inspire your performers, bear repetition, and be worthy of a place in the worship life of your faith community.

**Performance News!** Very best wishes to Huw Morgan for his recital this morning at Holy Trinity Church, Westbury-on-Trym - alongside works by Bach, Haydn and Buxtehude, Huw plays extracts from Neil Thornock's "Millennium Book" and three of his own hymn preludes, including a new one on "Liebster Jesu". 10.30am for coffee, 11am recital, free with retiring collection.

***New organ music from Firehead***
"Amazônia" by Luiz Henrique Yudo, adapted for the organ by Michael Bonaventure
"Amazônia" (1993) is originally scored for string quartet. Throughout the whole piece we hear only a single rhythmic figure of an 8th note being consistently repeated and combined in different patterns. The original score has indications of bowing attacks for the strings, with the idea of creating a visual choreography suggesting the relentless sawing of trees. A...mazônia is a vibrant ode to the Amazon forest, to its very last tree.
Concerning the organ transcription, Michael writes: "In adapting "Amazônia" for the organ in 2013 I chose not to attempt to imitate the way in which strings might deliver this music, but instead to exploit the near-percussive qualities of the more powerful, trumpet-like reed stops generally found on organs. This imbues the piece with a consistently hard, bright timbre and generates a body of sound entirely in keeping with the urgent insistence and excitement of the music."
