I meant to do this weeks ago..Heres a few pictures from the west highland way. Hope I've captured the essence of it and scotland's wilderness.

We dont grasp at straws when it comes to investigating causes of pain. Ultrasound is a great way to confirm clinical suspicions and helping to educate our patients on causes of their pain.

Can you spot the difference? The one on the left are a dime a dozen and will ruin your feet. The ones in tbe right cost more but are more comfortable, more supportive and more durable.

We generally don't reccommend them but if you do want to wear flip flops look for something with structure to the midsole, a deeper heel cup and the best retaining strap you can find....ie...sandals!
Good arch profiled sandals and flip flops are perfect for orthotic wearers for around the house or when not in your orthotics.

Heres a short video demonstrating the padding technique I used on while on the west highland way. Special thanks to Dianne Ashcroft of lane ends podiatry for the question. This technique kept me reasonably comfortable and mostly blister free for over 150km of rugged daily hiking.
The materials used are kinesiology (k) tape, just for its elasticity and good adherance, semi compressed felt and fleecy web (moleskin).
What works for you if youre walking / running long distances...?

State of the art equipment and most up to date techniques used through out my assessment with Ciaran. Feel as though all aspects of my feet, legs and hips were effectively examined to determine the underlying issues causing my problems. I've worn orthotics for 20 years and never had as comprehensive a service before. I had my feet measure on force platforms whilst hitting golf shots in order to identify the best fit to alleviate my pain! Thoroughly recommended and well worth the visit!

I just wanted to say now that the pain of walking the Camino De Santiago has faded a little and several layers of skin have departed my hobbity feet. Having had Achilles pain and stiffness for years a physio finally identified an issue and recommended I saw a podiatrist. I booked a biomechanics assessment with Martin and have never had such a thorough investigation. Martin was clearly passionate, knowledgable and experienced and was able to identify the root cause and provide options for rehabilitation.



I’ve just started on road to recovery (I’ll not pretend it’s easy) so can’t confirm if the analysis was right yet but so far so good and I now have an end in sight.



If you need a good value, in depth analysis of an issue then I’d recommend visiting.
