It is with regret that I have to announce that after three years of trading, Fromage & French is closing.
This has not been an easy decision and I will certainly miss our regular customers as well as being part of the lovely High Street business community. Unfortunately, the high rents and exorbitant business rates have made it difficult to turn a profit and there comes a time when working without taking a salary has to stop.
... The prospect of a no-deal Brexit has also precipitated my decision to close as suppliers have confirmed that wholesale prices will be increasing by 10% to15%, a cost which will have to be passed on and which will therefore further impact trading.
This shop had been a dream of mine for years and I have enjoyed bringing a small bit of France to Tunbridge Wells. The feedback from visitors has consistently been positive and no doubt some will miss Fromage & French, but I look forward to spending more time with my family. Whatever happens, I will continue to enjoy the fromage and I hope you do too!
Everything in the shop (including props/ tables/ chairs/ furniture) will be listed on the shop’s Facebook page and will be sold on a first come first served basis.
The last trading day will be Saturday 9 February.
