Many things have changed since Edward Wathen Fyffe first spotted our favourite yellow fruit back in 1888 🍌
But one thing that hasn't has been our aim to make a positive difference for our growers, our customers and our environment. Whether it's helping to set up community projects in Belize or working with charities in Colombia, maintaining good community relations is central to our work. You might be surprised to hear that bananas only became widely available across the UK in the 1950’s, just after the war!
Since it’s a rather recent addition to our supermarket shelves, there must be loads of you Fyffes fans who can remember trying them for the first time! Were you a fan at first sight or were you a little sceptical when your parents brought a bunch home? 🍌
We'd love to hear your Fyffes stories so let us know all about it in the comments 👇

Happy Father's day to all the fab dad's, step-dads and grandads out there - you might be at a ‘ripe’ old age but we're going to yell(ow) it from the rooftops!
We reckon you're pretty bananas for putting up with us – particularly when we're not acting very a-peeling! But we just wanted to make sure we said thanks ‘a bunch’ for all you do for us ❤ #FathersDay

Thank you again! 🌟 Remember the Ivan Dario project we mentioned a few days ago? Well, it’s going from strength to strength! We’ve partnered with local people to build a new playground and community centre, which works with the National Service of Learning (SENA) to provide people with the opportunity to develop different skills.
Angela Maria Hoyos Guzman is a student at the SENA classes and says: "I've been training hard to improve my skills with the aim of improving my income. I work as a pedicurist and manicurist and it's going really well – it's easy to see the rewards of the classes already.”
By choosing Fyffes bananas you're helping to make this possible 🍌 To find out more about the project, have a peep at our website here: http://bit.ly/2WATwgx

It's #BNFHealthyEatingWeek! By encouraging people to eat nutritious food, drink lots of lovely water and get exercising, it’s all about celebrating healthy living – and we think that’s just plain marvellous!
Not that we’re biased (but we absolutely are…), what better way to start than grabbing some extra Fyffes bananas from your local shop? Bananas are a fruit rich in goodies needed for the body, such as potassium and fibre - plus they make an easy addition to your breakfast or an ideal afternoon snack 🍌
But don’t forget, healthy eating isn’t just important this week, it's essential all year long. So start making those healthy habits and before you know it, you might just be feeling Fyffetastic 🌟

Any idea how many bananas we scoff per year in the UK? 🍌
1 million? 3 million? 1 billion?! NOPE! We eat over 5 billion bananas every year. Cor blimey - that's a lot of 'nanas, even for us!

With its spiky skin and magnificent crown, you can spot a pineapple a mile off 👑
But if you take a closer peep at our Fyffes pineapples, you'll spot something a little different - and that’s our famous blue label!
Since we created our blue label back in 1929 (as the first fruit company to use one!), we’ve continued to grow, ripen and ship high-quality, delicious fruit to your local shop - whether that’s bananas or pineapples 🍌🍍
... So keep your eyes peeled (pun intended!) because when you see a pineapple with our little blue label on, you’ll know that your fruit will be juicy, packed with goodness and sustainably sourced. Result!

Today is World Oceans Day!
World Oceans Day calls upon every one of us to do our bit to protect and preserve our oceans and we would like to commend our shipping partners Maersk for reducing sulphur emissions ahead of IMO Sulphur 2020. Well done guys 👍
Our packaging suppliers are working hard too, helping to save our seas by finding alternatives to plastic. And in the tropics we’ve been partnering local growers to improve air quality. Through the development of conservation a...reas, around 1/3 of our farm land is given over to primary and secondary forest. This helps lock-up carbon and keep it out of the environment (as well as providing sustainable habitats for insects and animals 😊).

A banana's life is a colourful one! From green when picked, to brown when really ripe, each colour signifies a different stage of the lifecycle of our favourite fruit 🍌
So why does this happen?! WELL, the browning of the skin tells us that the natural conversion from starchiness to sweetness is almost complete - the dark speckling happens as the sugars burst through! This causes your favourite yellow fruit to produce its spotty brown skin.
But whatever you do, don't throw away your overripe bananas! They're a perfect addition to any banana-based cake, or a fruity addition to a smoothie. How do you use your overripe bananas? 🍰

Whether you're hiking hills or have a 5-a-side match in the diary, why not prepare yourself by scoffing one of our potassium-packed bananas? 🍌
With only 100 calories a serving, and naturally full of essential vitamins like B6 and vitamin C, it’s a one stop shop for health boosting ingredients!
Our advice? Keep one in your bag at all times for a healthy way to stop those afternoon tummy rumbles.

Sure, the key to delicious, responsibly-produced fruit is how it's grown, but we believe that it's about partnerships too - whether it's working with graduates in the UK or growers in faraway tropical lands.
Case in point? Through a long-term grower community partnership, we're working closely with local people in Urabá, Colombia on the IVAN DARIO development project. Included is a playground, fitness track and community centre - providing safe facilities for children to play in after school and also a place for adults to meet, relax and attend vocational training classes.
And we'd like to thank you. By choosing Fyffes bananas you're helping to make this possible. To find out more about the project, have a peep at our website here: http://bit.ly/2WATwgx

You’re probably used to seeing our little yellow fruit in almost every food shop you visit 🍌 But back in 1945, it was almost impossible to get your mitts on a ‘nana, with boats unable to ship them across to the UK during the war ⛴
But fear not dear banana fans, in December 1945 Fyffes brought the first post war shipment to Blighty and this heralded an increasingly regular supply.
As the curious fruit started to appear in shops across the country, many people were left baffled! So baffled in fact, that a cinema commercial was produced to demonstrate to Fyffes fans how to peel and eat a banana 🎬

Half-term causing havoc in your house? To keep the kids occupied for a couple of hours, why not have a go at making some of our rather delightful ban-animals? (With adult supervision of course!).
Grab some toast (or a rice cake for a lighter version), your favourite spread, Fyffes bananas and any other fruit that takes your fancy 🍌🍓🍎🍏
Chop them up and let the kids go wild with their choice of fruity and healthy decorations! Even the fussiest of eaters will enjoy scoffing these 😋

We imagine this fella likes his 'nana milkshakes, shaken not stirred…
It's a big old happy birthday to the famed intelligence officer turned writer, Ian Fleming 🎂 Following the release of his Bond novel back in 1952 (Casino Royale - for those asking!) he wrote a further 13 Bond books, cementing himself as one of the greatest British writers of all time.
Interesting fact - he also wrote the book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

Today is the official birthday of the legend that is Ian McKellen 🎂
From starring in Shakespeare’s most famous works, to battling Sauron and taking on Charles Xavier, his acting knows no bounds! In celebration of his birthday it seems only fitting that we award him with probably one of very few accolades that he has not yet received - we've turned him into a much prized Fyffes banana 🍌
Happy Birthday, Ian!

Our Supersweet Gold Pineapples are always ready to eat when you buy them 🍍
But have you ever wondered how the growers know when to harvest them? Judging by colour or size just wont do! The prickly pines must be checked for the right sugar-acid ratio to ensure that they always taste delicious. Clever hey?
