About Gabeto London

Gabeto (meaning 'home') is Camden Market's restaurant, bar and terrace where the sun is always shining! Transforming a historic Victorian stable block into a daytime work-space, casual and formal dining areas, a cocktail bar and a large terrace.

Gabeto London Description

Gabeto (meaning 'home') is Camden Market's newest restaurant, bar and terrace opening at the beginning of July, transforming a historic Victorian stable block into a daytime work-space, casual and formal dining areas, a cocktail bar and a large terrace.

Head-Chef Lee Andrews, formerly of Chiltern Firehouse, has created a modern brasserie menu that mixes carefully sourced British ingredients with a hint of Latin flavours whilst we will be serving an ever-changing line-up of street food pop-ups (curated by General Manager Nicol Dwyer who joins from Dinerama) on the outside terrace all year-round.

We originally booked for Gilgamesh for afternoon tea and were disappointed it has closed down however we were rebooked into Gabeto. The decor isn't this same but we thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Food was nice, free flowing processco and staff were attentive and friendly. Special thanks to Chris. We also were delighted to get the free cocktail by downloading voucher online before.

Love this place amazing management food and drinks!! Cant wait for there new event Vagabundos

I would highly recommend Gabeto on a Friday night for a meal and a dance, it’s a Cuban restaurant that turns into a Latin dance floor at night with dance music on one floor & salsa upstairs a lots of fun. The area around it seems to be happening in general.

The food is good, we had nachos & Patatas bravas, the pulled beef tacos were particularly fantastic. I did expect better from the steak given the price point, and didn’t appreciate that the steak sauces cost an extra £3.

Service was very good, smile and greet at the entrance by the manager and throughout by the servers. Very friendly and approachable, despite us rolling in last minute.

Best part is there is a great atmosphere once the dancing kicks in, everyone’s there to have a good time and you see a lot of people embracing the Latin culture and music, some seem like professional dancers, and some less so, however all are welcome to bust their moves and provide an entertaining evening. The top floor is more focused on salsa-type dancing, again with a range of skills!

Glad we stumbled unpon this place, great memories that will last a lifetime.

Fantastic place to visit and celebrate any occasion !!! Food, drinks and dncefloor : what else ahh much cash because it's expensive, welcome to Camden London

if you like spanish/cuban music and salsa/rumba moves make sure your shoes are comfortable.

User

Excellent afternoon tea. Very friendly and attentive staff, filing up our glasses with prosecco, every time they needed to be.

User

Amazing atmosphere, lovely outside space to chill and catch up with friends over great cocktails and food and great dancefloor to let your hair down to awesome Cuban beats. Can't wait to visit again!

User

Absolutely loved it! First time we have been to Gabeto's. Was invited by a very good friend who was performing her with the accoustic club. Met some lovely people. And the guy who.organised the event was great!! Will definately return!

User

12 of us on a hen do... perfect food, drinks and service. Can't wait to go back

User

We popped in for a quick drink and ended up staying for several, staff were excellent, we had beer and cocktails from the happy hour menu so very reasonable for Camden, nice music, nice bar, excellent choice of drinks, my only complaint would be the toilets these are public toilets and pretty disgusting, prices outside of happy hour a little on the steep side even for Camden.

User

It was a good establishment, but crowded but that was because of the football, food was nice and staff were cool, had a good vibe to it.

User

Food is decent, nothing special, but the service is great! Staff is nice and attentive and free flowing prosecco- they really mean it!

User

Went with high expectations, due mostly them bugging themselves up on their website and other reviews. Sadly was fairly mediocre, food was actually pretty good, except my partners main course which was fish and chips, fish was a bit sparse and the batter was pretty solid and thick. Both our starters were spot on.

The overall experience was very much let down by the slow and at times bordering on rude service from our male waiter, the female waitresses doing the drinks were great though.

The premises did not have toilets themselves, they are outside and upstairs, falling apart, seats missing and in a terrible state of cleanness.

Once we had finished our meals, we were ignored and had to track down that waiter who seemed quite good at avoiding eye contact, to settle up.

User

The place is lovely but the facilities are not great and when an event is going on the disturbance is awful

User

I cant help but agree with some of the other negative reviews. My Daughter was given a Buy-a-Gift voucher as a birthday present and ask me to join her. Table booked for 1.30pm on 1st August. We was shown our table and given menu choice of 3 starters, 3 Mains and 3 desserts and 2 different cocktails for this voucher, so it didnt take long to choose!! We added 2 side dishes at £4.95 each and an extra drink each halfway through our meal. The sides came well after we started our main course and my drink choice was not in stock and almost 2 hours later we had our dessert. We waited so long I actually had to go to the bar and ask for someone to take my order. Shame as the food was actually nice. The service was very poor, we couldnt get anyone to take our orders and food look a long time to reach the table, but they were very quick in removing drinks and plates before we had even finished. When looking for the toilet I was told I had to leave the restaurant and turn left. This took me to rather unpleasant public toilets!! When I ask for the bill i was stood over by the waiter whilst checking the sides and extra drinks were correct, which confirmed my decision to deduct the 12 5% service charge. Added to this upon leaving the restaurant i noticed they had a adjoining small bar outside with seating area too which stocked a similar drink that i wanted, i did make a point of asking why i couldnt of had this inside but was told they dont stock this inside the restaurant. Just think they too lazy to get it!!! Shame, lovely restaurant just shabby service. It might be worth sharing this experience with BuyaGift.

2 star's only for the reason the staff were so nice & friendly.

Music annoyingly loud & on repeat.

Shocking, Staff are really friendly.

We revived a gift from family member's (buy a gift).

The food look's good, shame the taste didn't compliment the look,Starter's served cold,25 minute wait for starter's to arrive,20 minute wait for the main. 30 minute wait for the order to be taken.

The rib was served with mash and gravy, how is it possible to cook meat and destroy any flavour it possesed. The Gravy/sauce was basically hot water without a oxo/stock/seasing..

The desert chocolate brownie was tasty, can't really mess up pre packed pudding.

I would not be going here again, great gift for someone who enjoys bland food.

User

Where to start..firstly we were ignored for ages, they couldn't find our table, we were given a broke table and chairs, then given the wrong menu. I had to ask three times to order.

We ordered two mojitos which tasted like sour piss so they had to go back when I realised the bar guy didn't actually know how to make a cocktail. We waited and waited for food until it got past 1 HOUR, our food was on the pass getting cold whilst the manager (I assume) flapped around getting stressed trying to figure out where it was going.

The food came and it was poor, almost inedible. The plaice goujons were...well they were FROZEN fish fingers. The prawns were soggy cold and defrosted. The calamari was so over cooked you couldn't even bite in to it. To make matters worse, we were seated next to the pass and there were piles and piles of dirty dishes waiting to be scraped whilst over ten members of staff stroll around doing, well not very much and being generally completely useless. Gabeto would need a Gordon Ramsay to sort this shit show out and even then I don't think there's much hope (sorry, your good photography and cool Insta doesn't cover it!)

User

We are sat in this restaurant..very very disappointing..food was soo bland & very expensive..moody waiter too..£30 for the smallest tacos in the world..the only thing Cuban about this dump is the music..

User

Not the same. The ‘Cuban’ as it used to be known as is not the same. We used to go everyother weekend for a night out and we went in New Year’s Eve. It’s used to be crammed, like can’t walk from one end to the other, now it’s particulate empty. Since the new management there is less Cuban spirit and more of a general club theme with R&B and less reggaton. The track is never fully played the DJ was terrible. I used to love the place and used to go every weekend. Now I wil be trying to find a new local club with the same vibe as the old ‘Cuban’ 🙁

User

Never have I been so disappointed - we have eaten here about 4 times in the past we always book here on or visits to london from Wales - we always get a groupon or wowcher the previous times have been fab - good food plenty to choose from and a really nice upstairs restaurant - this time was disgusting very limited on the menu for the vouchers we was never told when booking we would be downstairs not up in the restaurant the toilets well I have seen better in a music festival - We had to go outside and up the fire escape to find the most disgusting dirty toilets I've seen in a while - infact the smell put me off the rest of my dinner dirty unkempt no toilet paper no hand soap and the smell of urine - if this is what your customers can see then what are the standards where we can't see?
