Located in Ecuador, the Tamandua Eco Lodge is part of a complex system of wildlife rescue, ecological reserve, and eco-tourism. Nestled on 125 hectares of protected rainforest, volunteers in the Gapforce South America Explorer program live amongst Kichwa natives with an incredible view overlooking the jungle and mountains.

Pancakes, face painting and a lot of dancing. What a joyful way to celebrate Nelson Mandela! Great idea, it must have been a wonderful day in the childrens day care centre in Oudtshoorn :-)

This was such an eye opening experience for me and really showed me how much the world had to offer. I did the Bahamas program and had the time of my life. I made so many friends I know I'll have for life, that live all over the world and we still keep in touch to this day. I learned so much about the ocean and other cultures, and made the most amazing memories. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves travel and adventure. I would love to one day do another program with Gapforce. I am so grateful to everyone who made it such a fantastic time.

The trip through South Africa was one of my best expriences in my life. I met so many different peolpe with many interesting stories. We've been to many different places and did lots of activities like Skydiving, Shark Cage Diving, horse riding or bungy jumping.

Our leader was very fiendly and always there if we needed help.

We also had a good atmosphere in our group and became friends very fast.

I would definately do it again!

Starting in Cape Town we climbed one of the seven natural wonders of the world Table Mountain which gave us a view of the whole city, we went on a light hearted but informative wine tasting in Stellenbosch where we got to know wine and eachother. We visited the top of lions head mountain for sunset and along the way briefly met one of the most renowned stunt men in the world. Upon leaving Cape Town we followed the scenic garden route which led to many fun nights out and adrenaline fillend days with activities such as bungy jumping, great white shark cage diving, skydiving, snorkeling with seals and sharks, as well as doing cultural visits to townships. The volunteer projects at both the st.Luigis children center and the Kwantu Game reserve were both rewarding, eye opening, fun, and informative. Sean and Richard were our leaders and both were well organized, cared for our well being, and made us feel comfortable while having a sense of adventure and the willingness to party. I really appreciated them as leaders and I hope that they get to lead many future trips like this one. I would recommend this trip to anyone with a lust for travel and adventure with good people.

My time in the Bahamas is an experience I'll never forget. The whole expedition is organised so well, it's such a great opportunity to meet people from all different backgrounds and countries and get involved with marine conservation ’┐Į’┐Į’┐Į

Just finished 4 weeks in South America and it was amazing. Have met some great people and had some phenomenal experiences. 10/10 would recommend Gapforce's trips.

User

IŌĆÖve just finished 4 weeks in Nepal on a trip led by Barney and Ryan. The programme lets you experience 4 very different places and really get a feel for this amazing country, with great things planned everywhere we went. IŌĆÖd recommend a Gapforce trip to anyone considering it. Thanks for an amazing and unforgettable trip ’┐Į

It is pretty cool

I had an unbelievable time in South Africa on my Gap Year. This was my first big excursion outside of the U.S. without my family so it was certainly the right move to join a group trip. My group was an unbeatable melting pot of guys and girls from all over the world. The program itself had an absolutely profound experience on me and set me up with a desire to continue to travel, but more so absorb and embrace other cultures in new places for the rest of my life.

User

I had an amaaaaazing time in Bahamas, thank you so much!

User

I had a wonderful trip! I just did the nepal part, but it was amazing. We were able to see many various parts of the country. This gave me the chance to get to know different subcultures within the main culture. Of course the Everest Base Camp trek was a main part of the trip! It was beautiful to see the untouched nature. Luckily we were able to make it to Base Camp, that was an absolute highlite of the trip!! This was quite exiting because I suffered a day from altitude sickness, but thanks to the expedition leaders (who were of great help) I was able to continue! Thanks a lot GapForce for this experience of a lifetime.

User

Had the pleasure of meeting a great Gapforce group travelling through South Africa. Very jealous of their trip and wish I had have joined! Look out for Barney's next big trip if you get the chance ŌØż’ĖÅ

User

Had a great trip to Nepal with Gapforce, the trip was brilliantly organised and the leaders Barney and Ryan were exceptional in making us feel safe while having an awesome time too. We would not have seen anywhere near as much in a developing country such as Nepal therefore I couldnŌĆÖt recommend this course enough for anyone travelling!

User

Great trip to Costa Rica with these guys!

For anyone thinking about volunteering abroad, look no further than Gapforce! This past summer, I volunteered with Gapforce's Thailand Adventure program and loved every minute of it. The month-long program included teaching children English, working at an elephant sanctuary, helping with beach conservation, and an introduction into Siam culture. Through my volunteering, I made life-long friendships, explored the 'local side' of Thailand's culture, learned Thai language, explored breathtaking temples and the picturesque landscapes, and gave back to the local community.

User

I went on a trip with Gapforce to South Africa from September-November 2016. While my trip included amazing adventures and activities, Gapforce proved to be very unprofessional in many different aspects. For example, we were having issues with getting our money for food, transportation, etc. and we, as a group, sent an email to the office. We sent that email about 2 weeks ago and still have yet to get a response from the office. Another example is my group was assigned a 'group leader' (from Gapforce) who had never even been to the country before; a few of the staff have proved to be incompetent with their specific positions whether it be field staff or office staff. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with the office when we really needed them, which was very frustrating and inconvenient for us. If I knew someone looking for a gap year program, I would not recommend Gapforce.

User

Had such an awful experience with these people. They didn't deliver what I paid for and just were totally unsupportive. Waste of time travelling with them.
