About Gaylord Restaurant London W1

Launched in 1966, this year Gaylord Restaurant celebrates its 50th anniversary and is considered one of London’s most elegant Indian restaurants.

Gaylord Restaurant London W1 Description

Gaylord Restaurant London was established in 1966, and is considered one of London’s oldest and most elegant Indian Restaurants. Gaylord London is situated in heart of West end, only minutes away from busy Oxford Circus off Regent Street, not far from theatre land.
Gaylord offers the best Mughlai and North-Indian fare in London. Served in relaxed surroundings with an all-ivory interior and minimalist glass frontage, Gaylord reminds one of the majestic golden era by way of the charming original art by Prithvi Soni adorning the walls.

We invite you to embrace our philosophy of 'Tradition is always in', combine this with a hint of Western elegance and innovative presentation and celebrate India's best gastronomic classics and more. . .

The restaurant is part of Kwality Group, the first Kwality Restaurant opened in Delhi's famous Connaught Place in 1940 followed by Gaylord Restaurant, Mumbai in 1956 and has taken its success to UK where first ever Tandoor (Charcoal Clayoven) was lit in our kitchen. Still producing the same delectable Kebabs and fresh breads, Gaylord is a brand recognised by many as an institution where their parents or grandparents took them out for first taste of finest curry.

Founded by P. L. Lamba – a pioneer of premium Indian ice cream – this family-run company has grown immeasurably since its inception in the 1940s and is today the first choice for Indians visiting food courts or preferring the more leisurely fine dining of Gaylord.

Today, 70 years later the iconic brand is now headed by Sunil and Dhruv Lamba, under whose direction the company has gone from strength to strength. The company now operates numerous food and beverage outlets in Delhi and Mumbai including Angeethi, Chopsticks and Tonic.

Thank you Harden’s! ‘Now over 50 years old, this #Fitzrovia veteran is still keeping the customers very happy - our reporters say Gaylord is “impeccably run” and the North Indian / Mughlai fare is “still always enjoyable” @gaylord_london #streetfood bit.ly/2BpAkY6 https://t.co/kVvlvjxCbT

Thank you for all the great reviews recently, including this one from Marie! Perfect Indian food
My boyfriend was craving Indian food, and we found this place. It is in a quiet street, not far away from Oxford Circus. The staff were really kind and professional, and the food came quickly. Would definitely recommend this place.

We have been to Gaylord and we loved the ambiance as much as food. Their Lamb Shank is spectacular. I would strongly recommend for a great dine out.

User

Owsome place for the Indian tasty food

User

Have had a LOT of currys in my time and this was one of the best. Food was finely spiced and tasted delicious. Naans were lovely if a bit thin and crispy and the rice dishes full of flavour.

Service was excellent and the company superb 🙂

Definitely gong back here!

User

Fab, great service, staff really friendly and informative, foods great, Do visit !!

User

Excellent service : food is simply wow!!! Enjoyed every single bite. Sameer Berry is a gem of a manager

User

A very nice atmosphere, great service from One of the best waiter ever I seen he understand customers need very well(Arshad) thank you for a nice dinner.

User

When the food eventually did arrive. It was yummy. We were meeting for a birthday lunch. We waited for all the various guest to arrive from around London and beyond. We were only told at point of ordering that the kitchen would be closing at 2pm. It was already pass 1pm!! We had to over order on the chapattis and naan. As Fresh breads were not going to be made. Staff were very slow and we were lucky if we got a smile, they were very u friendly. Not helpful. It is a shame that since we were there 5 years ago, service and hygiene levels have gone downhill. Food was tasty, but overall I will think twice before going again.

User

To me this place was very disappointing. I decided to go there after being given a voucher. The service was very unattentive and the guy serving told us the voucher only entitled us to 2 courses, after we were paying the bill he then said that it would have included afters after all. There was a service charge added which was unjustified given that it was an effort to get the waiters attention to order a drink. The food was ok but nothing you could not get from a bog standard curry house in any high street.

User

Poor service, not accommodating staff and food was microwaved!! Nan bread was crunchy like a biscuit. The tandoori chicken was rubbery and the list goes on.

User

Overpriced to the MAX. Nothing Special.

User

Not as good as I thought it's going to be. The service is slow and depending on what you order it's hit and miss.

User

Very disgusting food and very bad service please don't go here! And don't waste your money.

User

Very bad service and rude staff and the food is not good I had diarrhea because of this food so you can imagine.

User

The food was sub standard microwaved food... the lentils were edible and so was the naan but the prawns makhani was reheated from

Frozen in the microwave, it showed in the serving bowl, scorching on the side , the samosa pastry was thick and doughy not how it's supposed to be even for a Punjabi samosa, the pakora or bhajia tasted like it had been bought from a supermarket and heated in the microwave, soggy and bland the tamarind chutney was pure sugar and the pani puri masala was water with a bit of salt and Pepper!!!! Disgusting when I complained I was told it is made to suit the white peoples taste... when I go and pay those prices in a resterant I expect to receive authentic Indian cuisine, if people think thats authentic and .. wow it... they seriously don't know any better!!! The ras malai was the only thing on the menu that's was acceptable... the complementary mango

Pickle and mango chutney (again not suitable for diabetics or any person wishing to become diabetic from eating it becuse of the sugar content) and the mint chutney who's again was just mint and water ground up! Was also rubbish .... I suggest before you go to this eaterie you go eat a proper Indian meal and then judge! The location taken in account is probably why they have gotten away with that poor quality food for so long, that and customers who don't know any better...

User

It is the worst restaurent i have ever been to it took 2 hours for the food to come. Very poor service and very very expensive. The food is not tasty at all... i had food poisoning after eating in this restaurent.. i would recommend everyone not to go there !!!

User

Awful. Have just walked out of this place. Left waiting without being served for well over half an hour. Not even drinks order taken despite lots of staff about. If you are in a small group do yourself a favour and don't bother
