This is the "Tanaka" one of our signature pieces, in this instance made from rare 1970s blue marble deadstock acetate. We have these in many different materials ready to wear, but have the ability to remake them in an infinity of different variations. And of course the Tanaka is just one of hundreds of different General Eyewear original models. Check out what we are capable of at General Eyewear Camden or General Eyewear Soho. Both stores are open every day 10-6. Please call 0207428 or email info@generaleyewear.com for more information.

A very special pair of IDC sunglasses from the early 1990s based on antique pince-nez, but made by hand in France from contemporary heavy guage steel wire. The acetate brow detail can be remade by General Eyewear in a selection of vintage acetates. Available in either of our stores, Camden and Soho Square - both open every day 10 - 6.

General Eyewear's one-of-a-kind frames are handmade in England from Mazzucchelli acetate, much of it vintage and rare. Inspect our in-house production as well as our archival collection of frames from 1815-1995, at General Eyewear Camden and General Eyewear Soho. Both stores are open every day from 10-6.

Visited them in their shop and picked out some amazing frames! Had them all fitted and customised, sent out to me no more than 12 days later all ready! So happy with them, the glasses are beaut

User

This shop is amazing. I can never find glasses that suit me and i bought two pairs here. The service was really really good as well. I can only recommend this place!

User

These guys are the best in the business. Incredible selection. You can spend life time going through their stock. Definitely recommend!

User

The only place I've bought glasses for the last decade or so. That's about 10 pairs now. Wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.

User

The massive and eclectic collection intimidated me initially, but Astrid was insanely knowledgable and found me the perfect frames in no time. General Eyewear is the most charming and badass spec shop I know. I will never go anywhere else.

User

Perfect place with perfect shop assistant, love it!

User

Love the quality of the frames hand made in England and great service, if you looking for something unique this is the place to go

User

I’d been looking for very specific pair of sunglasses for a long time but could never quite find the exact pair.

A friend mentioned that General Eyewear offered a unique bespoke service and carried lots of old vintage styles. Going through their extensive archive, and utilising their knowledge and advice helped me put together my perfect pair.

I could not be happier with the results. Looking forward to making my next pair with them soon!

User

If you need glasses, go no further than General Eyewear. They have an amazing selection of gorgeous, unique frames and friendly, knowledgeable staff to help you out. If you can, see Fabio – with his encyclopaedic knowledge of the stock and impeccable taste, he’ll find you the perfect frames in no time!

User

I love this place! Once you've been you will never go anywhere else for your glasses!

I find the normal high street glasses shops so uninspirational but this shop is an absolute breath of fresh air for any glasses wearer.

Inside you will find hundreds and thousands of beautiful vintage glasses as well as some awesome frames designed by general eyewear themselves. There are draws and draws to explore and it's great fun looking and seeing all the gorgeous designs... There's some crazy and interesting pairs to see too! Of course, the most important thing is they are 'real' and you can get prescription lenses fitted in any you pick, woo!

The staff are brilliant, friendly and very knowledgable they will help you find glasses to suit your needs and face shape. It's a really personal service that I defiantly appreciate.

I got a pair a few years ago from here and was totally in love. I've also been in store to have those glasses re-lensed when my prescription changed which was useful and this time I'm having the same vintage pair repaired by them (stupid me sat on them!) which is brilliant as I thought they were gonnas!

Today I found two stunning vintage pairs of glasses with really pretty detailing. I'm now ridiculously excited to go and pick them up very soon!! Eee! Thanks to Astrid for making glasses shopping fun! :D

So in conclusion don't settle for boring glasses ever again. Pop into the archway. You won't regret it!

User

I got both my regular frames and my sunglasses from here as there is such an amazing collection to chose from. The staff are all lovely and the service was impeccable. Would highly recommend x

User

I can never buy glasses somewhere else....Ever again. Amazing service and _very_ knowledgable staff that are truly passionate about eyewear. I highly recommend it.

User

I am so impressed with everything about this place. Their glasses collections are gorgeous, high quality and very reasonably priced. My lenses are usually expensive but the price of them including the coatings were included in the price. I couldn't decide between two pairs and when I found out that the second pair would be half price I decided to get both. After a few days of wear I decided that the temple cables were too long on one pair and needed shortening. General Eyewear did this for free with zero hassle. Overall my experience there and the service they provided was faultless. Clearly I can't praise them enough.

User

Fell for a vintage pair AND the wacky new addition to their I+OS series. I will happily go bankrupt in this store. Will be coming to get them Fabio! :3

User

Fabio treated us so well, can't even begin to describe how amazing their selection is in store. If you have eyes, you should check General Eyewear out.

User

Excellent recommendation rounded off with a really enjoyable and personal experience. Great range, the new, inspired by classics.

User

Brilliant selection. May make me toss the contact lenses forever.

User

Best eyewear in town, if not the whole world. Fabio is the most knowledgable salesperson I have ever come across! I'd give this place 6 stars, if only it were an option!
