About Gmac Film

GMAC Film is a registered charity, social enterprise, skills and talent development centre for independent filmmakers, young people and professionals working in film. All income supports our work with young people and the independent filmmaking community.

Gmac Film Description

A charity established in February 1982 as Glasgow Film & Video Workshop, GMAC Film has had equality and diversity at its heart for nearly 40 years. GMAC Film works with over 1, 500 people every year who would otherwise not have access to high quality moving image activities due to financial, cultural and geographical barriers. Founded as an open access centre for independent filmmakers in Glasgow and the surrounding areas, it aimed to enable a greater diversity of people to make films. This, despite changing patterns of funding and outreach, remains the core purpose of GMAC Film today.

We provide resources and deliver a creative, artistic programme for all people interested in film, regardless of age, background or income. We also create content and hire out space from our Glasgow base at Trongate 103.

We support the development of an inclusive and diverse screen sector by hiring out production and office space as well as training and screening facilities at low cost. GMAC Film is uniquely placed to bring industry and community under one roof, making real life connections, supporting creativity and collaboration.

In addition to the programme of funded activities, GMAC Film generates income through its Creative Hub by offering our fully equipped 48 seat Screening Room, Training Suite and office space for hire to creative individuals and organisations. Affordable production space encourages excellence and experimentation for the local filmmaking community, as well as access to training, employment and volunteering opportunities to GMAC Film participants. In this way GMAC Film is uniquely placed to bring together people from under-represented groups with opportunities for creative learning, skills development, production and employment.

Come along to the GMAC Youth Teams final event of the year! We present "Die Hard is a Christmas Film and other Unpopular Opinions!"
This event is a fun group game in which we fight over some of cinemas most divisive opinions!
Examples may include:... Is Die Hard a Christmas film? Is Cars the best Pixar film? Is Nicolas Cage a great actor?
Teams will be made on the night, and topics will be drawn from a hat - so no prep is required.
Snacks will be provided and we will reimburse public transport expenses - so it's a free night out!
This is a perfect way to meet new people who have the same interest in film as you do!
This event is created and run by GMAC Youth Team, aimed at young people interested in film aged 15-25.

Very good. Guys are very supportive who do their best to help. Everybody has some kind of background experience that others can get advice from.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff at GMAC - especially Ellen for helping to book and organise my sister Erin's hen night, and also Eddie for being brave enough (and patient enough!) to put up with all of the wonderfully crazy ladies who celebrated with us on the 21st May 2016.

You were extremely flexible and helpful when we were in the planning stages and so prepared and yet relaxed on the day that all my stresses melted away! We had an absolute blast - all the guests were raving about our event and the venue itself. It was such a success that I was proud to have had a part in organising it.

I would definitely recommend your venue to anyone who is looking for somewhere to celebrate an occasion that's a little bit out of the ordinary!

Keep doing what you're doing and again, thank you so much! x

User

Just held a cast and crew screening at GMAC Great venue! Wouldn't hesitate to use this space again. Erica couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you! Would highly recommend screening a film here. Cheers!

User

I had a great time at GMAC's Christmas movie night last night. Really friendly atmosphere and the Youth Team were very helpful and informative. I hope to get involved more in the future!

User
