There are burgers, then there are 100% chuck steak burgers, patties smashed on the grill in the 1940's American style. It sears the outside to seal in the juices and give you an epic, epic burger.

Martinis. When you order one, you look like this - it's just a fact. Hopefully slightly less intense though. It's less intense for your wallet from 5pm too - happy hour in the Bloc Bar!

Look at these beauties. Cut seriously thick so we can cook them to your exact specifications (ever tried doing a proper medium-rare on a thin steak?) on Tuesdays we've got these two for the price of one. So, lunch...? http://www.chopbloc.com/

We had an amazing time here for our Christmas meal. We visited on a Tuesday night and the staff were really good and attentive to our table. I've not previously visited CB but had only heard good things and wasn't disappointed. Good, solid and nicely lit decor and so clean and tidy!

Impressed by the wide range of beers and lagers available I went for a Boston brewed Samuel Adams and really enjoyed that as my "one for the night". My mates enjoyed their beers and one had a nearly 2ft tall cocktail which he too enjoyed.

Once the last of the party had arrived we rapidly ordered and dived in to the starters which ranged between us from Panko Pork Belly to Prawn Cocktail to Duck Breast Proscuitto (I had no idea what to expect though I'd read the description) and Brisket Beef Croquettes. Our wait time was what you'd expect for a nicely populated Tuesday night with which we were well pleased. With the 5* we're looking at here everyone devoured their starters with one of our party sampling my duck and calling it "devine!" as slim as it was - imagine parma ham but made of duck. Mine was certainly the lightest of starters compared to the others we'd ordered. The pork belly was pretty substantial. I think if it was reduced by a third you'd still be alright as a starter-sized serving.

Our mains included Herb Roasted Chicken, Burgers (x4 various types), Josper Roasted Picanha (mine) and a "side" of a half lobster with extra sides of chips all round and one green beans + garlic.

Again, spot on waiting time between ordering and food arrival with not much hesitation before our plates were cleared. Apart from Neil who thought that the lobster side maybe hadn't been the most tactical thing he'd done but to his credit cleared it and his burger only leaving some bun, fair play!! The chicken was picked clean, the other burgers demolished and I really enjoyed my Picanha (medium rare - perfect colours for me).

A few more drinks between courses and whilst most of our party sat contented with their meals myself and Chris pushed through to desserts and he went for the Chocolate Peanut Butter Bomb and I went for the absolute classic of Apple & Winter Berry Crumble (with ice cream). Both beautifully presented, really very tasty and the perfect size for a dessert. Personally I'd have liked more crumble on mine but that wasn't going to taint the evening by any means.

Following the usual debacle and apparent inability for us to remember what we had and to add up ours individually thus being a £5er short which I covered (I know, what a hero) our bill was paid and we chilled there for a short while longer before it was realised that we were the last ones there and probably annoying the staff waiting to go home so we grabbed our coats and made for home.

All in all, an outstanding evening, thank you all very much - 5 Stars

We had an amazing Mixology Masterclass for our team Christmas night out last night. Tanda was informative, creative and entertaining. We had a great night and would recommend it to anyone. Fabulous cocktails and lots of fun too. Thankyou for making our night out so enjoyable!

Visited for my birthday last night with my husband ,

They really know their steaks!!

My steak was amazing loved it!! Couldn't fault my husbands burger either , our only complaint was the wait for getting a 2nd drink in the end my husband had to get up and ask our waiter if he had forgotten about us, he did eventually bring the drink and apologise and removed the drink from the bill, ( noticed when home I was charged for fat chips £4 and not normal chips£3 which I had)

Amazing food but very pricey ( especially drinks) save for a special occasion.

User

Staff were awesome for the fireward staff meal last night.

16 of us and we all enjoyed our food.

Sods law my steak wasn't cooked as requested but you've got to appreciate they were cooking for 16 people with fresh food.

My steak was awesome and it was an excellent gesture to not charge which I didn't find out till today.

Highly recommended.

User

Lovely Sunday afternoon treat great service superb food - I started with the mac n cheese bites yummy - Filet Steak (rude not too) truffle fries and mushrooms - too stuffed for desert though the menu had a number of items I'll try next time - all in all perfect

User

I'm seriously struggling to describe how good the food was without swearing. Oh never mind; fuck me it was good. The starters tasted so good we nearly cancelled our mains and ordered the same again, twice.

Staff were attentive but not pressurising. The venue is gorgeous.

Price wise you wouldn't want to eat there every day, but it was reassuringly expensive. And it was worth it.

Bravo.

User

2nd visit now, firstly with a group & 2nd time on my own & both times the steaks were great & in my opinion better than Gaucho's (Although Hawksmoor's still my fav) and the Bricett bites are are gorgeous - & judging by the amount of people having them I'm not the only one who thinks so. Only criticism was that the mushrooms hadn't been dried after cooking so they were dripping loads of water & on a personal taste note rather than any fault of the meal, I don't like balsamic drizzle at the best of times & certainly not on my mushrooms but I'd gone for the steak & it didn't disappoint again.

User

Was lovely food, thankfully it was all about the company for our meal as there were quite a few moments of waiting for all our order to arrive together (even though we pre booked our meals!) couldn't fault the food and the service was alright.

User

The staff were excellent and really helpful. Food was great but a bit overpriced for what was essentially burger and chips!!! Atmosphere seemed good but probably better for a couple or a group of friends than for a family with young children.

User

The Steaks were gorgeous and meat just fell off the baby back ribs... just my chunky chips were so big they were like massive roast potatoes rather then chips and the onion rings were quite sweet tasting for some reason not oniony....Starters and deserts were loving ...

User

I dont see what the negative remarks are about. Food was fantastic, service A1 friendly and efficient. 4 drinks cost as much as the meal but im nit picking. If you want great service and food then you could do a lot worse. I loved it and will be back

User

Great atmosphere and staff are great, a bit over priced £240 for 4 of us although we never paid for one bottle of wine we had 3 so would have been well over £260. They do struggle to get the steaks cooked as you want them but over all a good night and will go back.

User

If I hadn't gone with a fabulous group of people I would have put this as a one star. We had pre ordered our food but it took over an hour to get our first and a further hour for the second course. No one came to see if our order was ok. I asked for medium cooked and go more well done. Then on the way out we got stuck between floors in the lift and had to climb out. I feel bad for the guys who paid the bill as it wasn't the best and took too long to get to us. I won't be going back.

User

First visit for a special anniversary meal. Some of the staff appeared unsuitably dressed for such a high end steak restaurant but overall were polite and friendly. Waited too long for our cocktails resulting in the bar staff having to be reminded twice of our order. Eventually got what we asked for and had to ask for it to be tweeked. The meal was lovely and our waitress was amazing.

User

Dinner date with friends, meal was average, staff were rather sluggish and drink orders seem to take forever. I asked for my steak to be well done....was presented to me pink. Spoke to waitress she took it back to the kitchen returned and stated "the chef has put it in the oven for you"....a statement all of us thought odd....steak cooked in the oven...hmmmm?! Cocktail bar has a nice vibe, staff were very friendly and helpful...although £50 for 4 drinks is ridiculously overpriced!

User

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime, when it was busy but not full. I ordered the Korean Ribeye - Medium. It turned up an hour and a half after we arrived and some half hour after our starters. The steak was charred around the edges but raw inside. To be fair they took it off the bill. The sides of green beans and spinach were both supposed to sauted in garlic, but were both devoid of any seasoning and were tasteless. A poor mans Gauchos

User

Really disappointed with my experience at this restaurant... the food and the service was very poor! I asked for medium rare steak and it was probably the worst steak I have ever eaten! It was blue, burnt round the edges and lacked flavour, considering it's meant to be all about the steak I have eaten better elsewhere..I ordered sides and they didn't even turn up, then to top it off the waiter denied all knowledge of me even ordering them in such a inconsiderate manor, considering I work in retail I thought this was terrible customer service! Sides arrived half way through my meal and still a couple of them never even showed.. For such a quite evening the service was very slow and the staff needed seem to know if they were coming or going.! After really looking forward to a great evening at Chop Bloc to end my weekend I am left with such disappointment..

Be lovely to hear your response!!

Until then...

User

I believe that the staff should know what they are serving, I ordered a 600g T-Bone medium rare, when it came up it was well done :-( I sent it back and was told that medium rare steak is well done on the edges and medium rare only in the middle, they then made me another one the was still alive with blood still coming out :-( I will not ever recommend this resturant and I will be sticking with the Gaucho as they know what they are doing !!

User

Took them half an hour to ask for our drink order, even though there were only another 3 tables in use, food was nice but well over priced for what it is. Waiters made us feel uncomfortable. All in all rather disappointed as it was our first visit and were celebrating a birthday
