Yesterday myself and my wonderful husband Peter got married and we would like to forward a huge thank you to everybody who took the time to welcome us and make our day so special.

What a fantastic place to get married! I'm so glad we chose Famous Blacksmiths for our wedding. The pastor sandy jamieson (biggest smile ever)! and staff a lovely man called Ian were great and made us feel at ease, the room we married in was great, we only had a small wedding, me and Neil, our daughter Emily and boyfriend Ben. They are both 18,being our witnesses and proved to be excellent photographers.

On behalf of myself and my beautiful wife Gemma we’d like to forward a huge thank you to everybody who took the time to welcome us and make our time with you that little bit more extra special than we ever expected.

We were met by our photographer and wedding planner. Everything went smoothly and everyone was so positive and kind that it made our day special. The Registrar was professional and also calm. We stayed at Smiths which was fantastic and my hair and makeup done by True U at Greens, their sister hotel. I was very happy with the whole experience as was my husband.

We visited Gretna Green for our the weekend,we found the overall atmosphere and experience of the blacksmiths shop very moving and it was the perfect romantic getaway for our 11th wedding anniversary! X

We had our Wedding Day here on the 24th may 2018 . It was a amazing day .everything we could have wished for and more. Very personal and more . Also stayed at the Smiths hotel in the Thistle suite which was amzing,and our other guest stayed at the Hazeldeane hotel. Had a fabulous day .Thank you Gretna Green. Love the new Mr&Mrs Riley xxxx

We got married here on Friday and I wanted to say a big thank you, particularly to Frank, for giving us a lovely tour the day before, to Ian for all his help on the day, and to the minister, Mark Smith for performing an amazing ceremony. You all made our day extremely special and our guests loved it!

We got married here on 8th June and it was the perfect place I'm so glad we picked here. All the staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome and at ease. Our whole day was amazing. I would highly recommend a Gretna Green wedding and we will be visiting again on our first wedding anniversary.

We got married here a year ago tomorrow (28/1/17) and have come back today for our anniversary weekend away. After looking at venues which included overseas, both dean and I fell in love with Gretna immediately, regardless of the “tourism” side, we felt the venue offered something that all the other venues didn’t, and believe me we looked at A LOT Of places! The romantic side was vastly superior to anywhere else and although on our special day there were some tourists around, they respected our day and moved on when asked. Couldn’t recommend Gretna highly enough x

We called here on a Shearings tour. On the return journey on Friday we were served by a lovely young guy called Ben M. His customer skills were 100%. He was off to do something else and about turned to tend his customers. Well done.

Visited on 26TH June 2018 to celebrate our 20th anniversary . Was met by the wonderful Frank who was so pleased we had returned and took us through the museum. We then had the honour of being asked to be witnesses for a couple who had travelled up from dunstable . It made our 20th anniversary even more special! Special thanks to Frank and Morag you were both so lovely �

My husband entered your 12 days of christmas competition and he won the Smiths hotel DB&B we would like to say a big thank you for the lovely relaxing stay and the delicious breakfast and 3 course meal, our room was spotlessly clean all staff are friendly and helpful. We were married at Famous Blacksmith Shop in 2006 and had our wedding reception at Smiths we also had our 10 year anniversary blessing there so Smiths hotel will always be a special place to us thank you again �

My husband and I got married here in December 1999. We traveled all the way up from Leeds early in the morning. The weather was really bad that year. Snow everywhere. At one point we didn’t think we would make it. We visited again just over a year later, but when the weather was warmer. Yesterday we took our children to see where we were married. They couldn’t believe it.

My husband an I had a Handfasting ceremony here on the 23rd June to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. This was conducted by the lovely Frank who made it feel very personal for us. He even took the time to take photos of our celebration of which were fantastic . This experience surpassed all of our expectations and will be a treasured memory.

Me and my husband married on the 6th November. All the staff were fantastic and if I could have afforded it I would have spent a few more nights and smyths just so I could see the sights more. Everything went in the blink of an eye. Buy was the most romantic place on the planet . Well done

Me and my husband got married here 10 years ago on valentines day we went back yesterday for our 10th anniversary it was as magical as the first time, only instead of us tying the knot we where asked to be witnesses for another couple on their journey as man and wife. I went to the museum 1 hour ago. And now I am just on my way to next place. I feel very warm, kind and calm because of the guider Frank. He is really like my grandpa. He is a really really really kind man. We had only a short 10-minute conversation. But I learn a lot and he encouraged me. Maybe he didn’t know how this simple words he said to me means different. Because, I am not very confident with my English and I am afraid to talk with other people. I am not have any other negative emotions, like nervous or upset when we talked and this gave me much more confidence. I will come back to see him again and thank him a lot to give me such a relaxed,special and happy experience in Gretna Green! Thanks!

Got married at the Blacksmiths on Friday 29th June and Frank and the registra was amazing. Even though it was the last wedding of the day they still made it personal and made us feel like we were the only ones they dealt with that day. Frank also showed me around the day before even when I turned up unannounced and quite late in the day. He's a real credit to you x

Frank, our Blacksmith guide was brilliant. We arranged a Handfasting to renew our vows ( 21 years on ) and celebrate 25 years of our relationship. We could not have asked for a more perfect or fitting location and ceremony than we had. The venue is superb.

Frank our "Blacksmith" was just simply amazing, he really made us feel very special in the short unplanned "handfasting". A memory to last a lifetime. Thank you Frank for everything you have done, may God bless you <3

A small wedding ceremony that went perfectly. We were met from our taxi, escorted to a waiting area where we met the Registrar, then, with our chosen CD playing, we were shown in to the room for the civil wedding. After signing the register, Frank performed the traditional ceremony over the anvil which was a very memorable experience. We couldn't have wished for more. Fantastic.

A most memorable day for us. Friday, June 22nd 2018, we had an anvil hand fasting vow renewal ceremony to celebrate our 10th Wedding Anniversary. It was amazing. A fantastic experience. I'm unsure what I was expecting, maybe a clinical, routine, commercial ceremony? How wrong I was. The ceremony, conducted by the lovely Ian, was extremely well delivered in a very personal, individual, sentimental and emotional manner. It felt very special and intimate, as though the verses had been written just for us. I can't explain just how wonderful it was and it wasn't a swift 'in and out' service either - I think it was about a half hour ceremony. Ian made us feel all loved up and closer than ever. I was happy that we could take our dogs in with us too - canine witnesses. Paw prints on the certificate :-) I love the horseshoe we were given and the certificate too. Receiving a copy of the ceremony is a great touch. Awesome. WOW. Thank you to Vikki for booking us in. Huge thanks to Ian for making the occasion so very special for us, amazing. Thanks to the ladies in the shop too for their help in supplying flowers and tartan scarf as a momento. x

1st time in gretner green, lovely place. My husband and I had a good laugh going round the lovers made. Shopping is quite good but the story in the blacksmith tour was fantastic.

Defiantly worth a visit

Very expensive for the goods on sale, that includes the food. Had a scotch pie that was very dry and very little filling.

Was a big disappointment.

A very commercialised location. I can't say I found it 'romantic' due to the fact that they will try to part you with your money at every opportunity. It's one of the few places where the only thing that was free were the benches to sit on outside and the air that you breathed. And as for the prices in the shops.....your cash & credit cards will get a battering!
