Grind, the group of seven restaurants and café bars across London, is to open an exciting new site in Exmouth Market at the end of January. We visited Cafe Pistou last night.....it was wonderful! From the greeting our 4 year old son received as we entered, to the amazing food and cocktails. The puff pastry tart with figs was a real delight! It also catered to my obsession with the French Riviera - even had postcard versions of the Roger Broders prints we have in the hall.

Excellent food and great service. A bit of a gem to be honest in a lovely part of London :-)

This is a slightly less pretentious French restaurant than the one around the corner, but the food is no less delicious- in fact, it might be more so to my American sensibilities. The vibe is part fancy, part chill, with a whole lot of class, and offers the perfect opportunity to sit back and relax for a bit by yourself or with friends for a yummy brunch or dinner.

They have a fully-stocked bar with cocktails and wines and the food menu does not disappoint, with starters like goat's cheese wontons with apple and honey dip or caramelized onion puffs with your choice of fillings; entrees like braised lamb, Provençal vegetable shepherds pie; grilled plates like half corn-fed chicken, lamb cutlets, & rib-eye steak. Of course, being a French spot, they would also have to have the quintessential French sandwiches like the Croque Monsieur and Croque Madame, and dishes like Ratatouille with feta and basil.

From personal experience, the food is good and the prices, while not cheap, are fair, if you take into consideration that you're also paying a bit for the atmosphere as well as the food. Though I do prefer brunch/ lunch as opposed to dinner here due to how crowded and noisy it can get during the dinner hour. Also, the view is nicer during the day, as you watch life go by in the city outside.

Food was tasty but terrible service really soured the experience. Waited about an hour for our lunches as a party of four but it didn't seem particularly busy. Had to ask for the bill three times before it was brought to us 25 minutes later and no apologies given for slow service- just a shrug off. Was disappointing to see most of the waiting staff on their phones in the kitchen instead of being attentive. Such a shame because the food and atmosphere was really good.
