Celebrating National Dental Nurses Day - 22 November.
There was plenty to celebrate over at Guy's Hospital this week for our dental services and nurses. Staff gathered to mark the day with a departmental gathering and cake sale which helped to raise £300 for their Oral Medicine one stop shop.
There was also recognition for Natasha Young, Dental Sister for Sedation and Special Care, who won the National award for Outstanding Dental Nurse Manager. Additionally, Melissa Deschamp...s Practice Development Nurse was also 'Highly Commended' under the outstanding Dental Nurse Tutor category in the yearly Dental awards.
Congratulations to both of you and our best wishes to all the dental staff for their special day.😀
The Dental Directorate are recruiting for a Dental Sister. If you'd like to find out more please see our jobs site at: http://bit.ly/DentalSisterBand6 (Closing 4th December Midnight)

An evening stroll after a late shift is the latest photo in our 'Journeys to Work' posts. Physiotherapist Stephen sent this picture in, saying; "I'm normally dashing through Leicester Square on my way to St Thomas' and don't take stock of my surroundings, but walking back tonight with the Xmas lights shinning overhead suddenly felt very festive!" If you feel inspired, we'd love to see your photos, whether festive or not, (just try to avoid having members of the pubic fully visible) - Email in your snaps and tell us where you work and why you like your journey to the Trust, at: NursingInfo@gstt.nhs.uk #MyJourneyToWork

Some of the Guy's Cancer Blood testing team strike a pose for our latest #MondayMotivation, as another week begins across the Trust.
Our friendly phlebotomists are here to provide blood tests to our patients as they arrive at the Cancer Centre. The electronic check-in process means patients are advised if they need to have a blood test or not before their appointment and the team are on hand to oversee these every weekday at the Welcome Village.

For National Dental Nurse Day 2018 we're giving a special mention to all our brilliant Dental Nurses hard at work at Guy's Hospital!
Held yearly on November 22nd, this date celebrates the first dental nursing examination which was taken and awarded in 1943.
You can see some of our dental nursing team pictured here, holding up some rather tasty tooth-shaped treats to mark the occasion.

"Autumn leaves and crisp morning air on my way to work at Guy's." Here's another in our series of amazing views and interesting sights our staff encounter on #MyJourneyToWork. Physiotherapist SP took this stunning photo on his way into Guy's Hospital because he wanted to capture the amazing colours against the bright sky. If you feel inspired, we'd love to see more staff photos - please just avoid identifiable members of the general public in your snaps. Email them into us and please say where you work and why you like your journey to the Trust, at: NursingInfo@gstt.nhs.uk
