Last Thursday, Alzheimer’s #Cupcakeday came to Hörmann UK, with numerous staff offering baked goods for sale. We ran several activities alongside the cake sale, including ‘baby photo guess who’, ‘pin the cherry on the cupcake’ and ‘guess how many sprinkles’. Thank you to everyone who baked and bought, we raised a huge £372!

At the end of May, Hörmann (UK) Ltd completed two events to raise money for Alzheimer's Society UK.
The Farmageddon Run: Hörmann UK staff members took part in both the 5km and 10km Farmageddon run on the 20th May in Market Harborough.
... The Leicestershire Round: From the 26th to the 29th May, David Newcombe challenged himself to complete the full Leicestershire Round consisting of 102 miles. Staff and family members joined David at various stages across the 4 days, walking through some great locations in Leicestershire.
A big thank you to everyone who participated and donated to the Farmageddon, with a special mention to our fallen comrade Tom Langley who broke his leg taking part, we wish you a speedy recovery!
Also, a huge congratulations to David Newcombe, who successfully completed the Leicestershire Round this weekend. Due to good weather and pace, David was able to surpass expectations with a 29 mile stint on the first day, which helped when tackling an especially tough day 2. We would also like to thank everyone who contributed to making the four days possible, from support walkers to lift givers to donators.

The best! I've been installing these doors for nearly 20 years, so I know a thing or two about them. Definitely the market leader!

Had DHF training on site. We were made very welcome and look forward to Hormann door training with my engineers

Garge door itself is OK. However, the "clicker" that operates the door fell to pieces within months. I returned all the parts to Hormann months ago expecting a replacement - did I get one -NO!!. I wrote to them then telephoned. They said that they had received my letter and would sort things out. That was 2 months ago. Have they sorted it -NO!! I just telephoned and was told that the customer services manager isn't in work yet. It is 9:30 on a Monday morning???? The service isn't poor; it is non-existent.

The situation is now resolved to my satisfaction. Thankyou. As soon as I spoke to the right person things were sorted immediately.

We purchased 2 Hormann garage doors from Jack Doors in Barnsley in October 2013, however, in March of this year we noticed that the paint was peeling off the doors.

Clearly, we were very concerned and called Jack Doors straight away and they confirmed that the repair or replacement of the garage doors was covered under the warranty and this would be handled by Hormann, who they would notify immediately. They also advised us that the problem would be resolved within 8 weeks.

However, despite our repeated phone calls to Jack Doors the garage doors have not been repaired or replaced and we've had no direct communication from Hormann.

To be perfectly honest the level of service we have received is very poor and we need someone at Hormann to contact us asap?

When I built my garage my main priority was ensuring I had a high quality door. After consulting with A1 Up and Over Doors I was assures that the Hormann door was the best available for my needs. £2500 was a lot to pay but if it was good quality, hard wearing and reliable then it was worth it. Within 2 years the door started to crack, and a further 2 years on is rusting and bubbling under the paint all over door treated my ass. After contacting both Hormann and A1 it seems neither is willing to take responsibility for the fact that this is clearly a faulty door. A1 did come out to assess it but nearly 6 weeks on there has been no resolution. I am disgusted with both the product and service I have received and would advise anyone thinking of purchasing a Hormann door to steer well clear,

We wanted to contact you with respect to the situation we have been left in a year after deciding to purchase a Hormann door. While we wholly expect our situation is known to you, we just want to convey the frustration and disappointment placed on us.

We purchased our door through Travis Perkins, from Garador in November 2016, with the door arriving in January 2017 – An FGS 900 with matching side panels.

The door arrived and it was noted that it had a couple of marks to the inside panel of the door. Expecting that this could be touched in, the door was fitted, only to find that the external finishing strip around the door glass was peeling away from the Door.

A Hormann representative was sent out to our property to assess the door and we were offered a 10% (approx) discount and you could silicon the finishing strip back down – A rather crude method of solving the problem (and not an adhesive). We requested a replacement door.

Ten weeks later, a new door arrived. This time the door had an artefact in the paintwork – A brown mark right in the eye line of the door handle. It also had markings around the lock furniture. Another visit and another replacement door was put on order.

When the third door arrived, we had our suspicions it was a re-sprayed door (It was clearly not the same surface finish as before) and we noticed a lot of overspray around the seals and hinges – Nowhere near the finish we would expect. However, with us having taken multiple deliveries\collections and wasted a lot of time trying to resolve this issue we accepted the door was at least mostly damage free (other than a scratch to the stainless edging - hopefully this could be polished out!).

After fitting the door and adjusting the hinges to allow the door to close, we discovered that the door was not the same colour as the frame – The frame is a RAL9016 (Traffic white) and the third door has a yellow hue!

Now stuck with a patchwork door and the original peeling door a year later, we contacted Travis\Garador to try and resolve the issue – We would be happy to have a go at fixing the original (and ironically, the best) door ourselves, but given the fact after a year we still did not have a door with the quality promised, we would only be prepared to have a go with a far greater reduction in cost – Something to cover all our wasted time and effort. Instead, we find ourselves being offered two options: A <15% reduction on the original door and we fix it ourselves or return the entire door and frame for a refund! There would be no attempt by Garador to produce a defect free forth door.

We had wanted the front door to be significantly reduced it price – Who would mind a defective door after a year and all the wasted cost and time, if it was truly reflected in the price paid…

Instead, neither sourcing a replacement door or having to accept a feeble compensation offer leave us with any closure to our treatment and the high expectations you advertise with your products.

We wanted to contact you before we are forced to choose either of these options, as we are so disappointed with the situation we are left in and the service we have received so far. Coming home to a defective door – or risk trying to fix it properly and possibly making it worse – knowing that the door has still cost us so much is terrible; but having to bear the cost of sourcing and replacing the door (while allowing us to get away from substandard Hormann products) places a large burden on us – Either way it is us that seem to lose the most out of this.

We look forward to hearing your comments.

Best regards,

Jack Prescott

Sadly Hormann refer all issues to their dealers so after querying why no remotes on electric opener ordered from an on-line seller I was simply referred to a local dealer. When I had issues with Blum hinges, Blum stepped in and fixed the issue for free - going well beyond but Hormann don't seem to operate that way.

Had a new front door supplied which has sharp edges on it and which has resulted in cuts, it is also chipping around the key hole due to the poor quality finish, this door cost me £2500 and is a shocking product, Hörmann as a company are not interested and the only thing they have suggested is that they will send me a touch up pen!!

I am taking further legal advice as this is a shonky attitude to a safety issue!

My advice would be to avoid the Hörmann sales pitch as the after service is shocking!!
