Haemnet Description

Haemnet works with all members of the haemophilia multidisciplinary team to better understand the needs of people with bleeding disorders, so that together we can identify ways of enhancing the work of haemophilia care professionals.

We started in 2011 by developing an online social network platform through which haemophilia nurses could connect and share their experience and expertise. Before Haemnet, when a haemophilia nurse needed advice or encountered a difficult-to-manage patient, he or she would phone a friend for advice. Now, those conversations also take place on Haemnet, allowing more professionals to contribute their experiences to the benefit of the whole community.

What began as a UK-initiative quickly spread across the haemophilia community worldwide: now more than 500 nurses and physiotherapists from around the world are registered on Haemnet along with a growing number of psychologists and social workers.

Through winning grants and taking on new projects, we've grown into an active, international network providing forums for collaborative research, educational activities, practice-based support and creative yet practical resources for clinicians.

Our vision is "ensuring excellent haemophilia care is an everyday experience. "
