We have just returned from the beautiful historic Prince Regent hotel as a base for our theatre trip to London. Our family room In the old Chapel was perfect for 3 adults. The staff are warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful with a special nod to house keeping and Demi Gee on reception who's customer service skills are outstanding! We shall definitely be returning in the near future! Thankyou for a wonderful stay

We came with our Mum for Mother's Day. Turns out that our waiter was the duty manager! So busy he was waiting tables, taking orders, and greeting customers by himself. What a guy! Made our evening, and mum loved himļæ½

The rooms with there stunning chandeliers are perfect for a dream wedding or amazing party.

I recently placed an event for 200 guests at this hotel for one of my clients and dealt with Christine Lewis and her colleague Oana Moraru. Their attention to detail was first class as was their speed of response. Christine was my main contact from the initial enquiry and made it a joy. My client was equally impressed and I'd have no hestitation in booking the London Chigwell Prince Regent once again - thank you team!

Fantastic evening at the Motown tribute in the Princess Suite. Groove Sistas were fab and Christine Lewis could not have done enough for us from the initial booking, welcome and right up until the end of the evening.

Food, staff and a gorgeous large suite made it a very lovely festive treat - thank you all at The Prince Regent and Hallmark Hotels - we will be back again real soon. X

Was only here a couple of nights because on a training course . Greeted with a nice friendly smile by young lady behind the desk . Could not be more helpful asked if anything they could do or get for me explained everything really nice . Would come back with my wife next time . So if you read this thank you everyone for making me feel at ease. ļæ½ļæ½

Staff were very attentive and polite especially the waitress in the restaurant. Room was in the converted church with a long walk to get there but nice and spacious with a large comfortable bed. Evening meal was superb with a wonderful choice and top quality produce. The hotel was tainted by a scummy wedding which left broken and unbroken bottles and squashed food all over the car park. I know these weddings are worth the hassle as my son is a head chef in another Essex hotel and he has the same problem but thank goodness it was in a separate building (a public convenience would have fitted the bill better). We weren't disturbed so our stay was lovely and we are regular fussy hotel stayers. Thank you to all.

User

Nice location, peaceful surroundings. The staff are very good, pleasant and helpful. Rooms are smaller than I expected but are comfortable except the pillows which were very firm. I attended a wedding reception there and again found the staff to be very good. Overall good experience and will recommend it to others.

User

Lovely over night stay friendly hospitable staff. Beautiful garden to sit in. Food is delicious and fresh. Definately recommend for a mini break.

User

Just stayed there for one night! Can speak as I find, & was very happy with the service. Staff were extremely helpful. The only complaint I could comment on would be to say that I was really looking forward to a nice soak in the bath!..... there wasn't one! Maybe I should of requested. Had a steak dinner in the restaurant & it was fantastic. I don't usually eat steaks in England because I'm always disappointed, but on this occasion it was great! This was my first visit & I would definitely return!

I booked the Regency Suite in June last year on the recommendation of a few ex-employees. The venue is very close to where we live and we wanted somewhere people could stay. Iā€™ll be honest, for the first few months of working with the hotel, it was very difficult. No one would get back to me for weeks on end and when they did, it wasnā€™t with the information I needed and all I was trying to do was put a deposit down!! I soon found out that all the events staff had pretty much left the hotel, and a new wedding coordinator, Christine, was being appointed. The communications after this were a lot easier and things generally went to plan. The day itself went off without a hitch (at least as far as I could see). The staff were excellent, and Roger who I believe was the duty manager on the day was simply fantastic ā€“ he didnā€™t miss a trick and was constantly checking in with us to make sure we were ok. The food was very good (I had heard bad reports about the food after I had booked but these were totally unfounded). The company who decorated did an excellent job and the place looked fantastic given that the venue itself can seem a little old fashioned and tired looking ā€“ itā€™s amazing what they can do to make it look absolutely stunning! Accommodation-wise, I was in the bridal suite and they did it up for us nicely for when we came back (I did read on here that they didnā€™t clean the room for one couple, so I made a point of asking for the room to be cleaned). Pretty much all of my guests who stayed reported that their rooms were really nice so again, very happy on that front. The breakfast is also very good, and a big shout out to Candice, the waitress at breakfast who had to deal with an influx of our party and another party in the last 30 mins (she did a great job!). They did run out of some items when this happened, and there was a wait for replenishment but I guess these things happen. I would say, however, to look online for the best rate for rooms as I donā€™t believe my guests got the best deal with the ā€˜preferred weddingā€™ rate. My ONLY gripe, is that on the package, they say they provide the place cards, table plan and menus. I was told to make my own place cards and table plans ā€“ which was fine, I didnā€™t mind that. But there were no menus on the tables. Again, not a huge deal, but they probably should take these off the package when advertising. Also, they closed the hotel bar so when the reception finished at 12pm, there was no where for the remaining guests to go. But all in all, everyone enjoyed it, the staff were excellent, and the food and rooms were really good. If the initial few months of organizing hadnā€™t been so painful, I would have given this place 5 stars. But I can definitely say that this was a great wedding venue and hotel. Thank you!

User

Had a good night at this place rooms were clean and comfortable , have stayed here many times and would do so again, my only gripe is that the lighting in the rooms are quite dull and makes it awkward when putting on make up or men having a shave there needs to be a light overhanging the mirror or for the men a shaving mirror, we had to ask for a coffee at the end of the evening and was told that we couldn't as the machine was being cleaned , all staff very pleasant and well presented

User

Breakfast was fantastic and piping hot. Staff were really attentive, friendly and happy. Was there for a wedding and the meal was great and hot, which everyone commented on. Room was clean, everything was well thought out, extra pillows, iron and ironing board etc. Couldnā€™t get my safe to work but apart from that, a really great stay.

User

Got newly refurbished room , very nicely decorated and well appointed unfortunately as the windows didn't close correctly it was little colder than it could have been and a little bit of road noise , Ā£5 a night to park as it was through hotels . Com so we decided not to spend any money there for their cheek ....

User

Stayed a few times and doubt I'll go back. Bed far too hard with hard pillows. Spare in wardrobe but just as hard. No water in room but were given some when asked. Had to change rooms as the shower in the first room too low and only just above my head, no way husband could have used it. Shame can't post photo on this review. The room smelt musky as well. New room had been done up and much better shower but no spare toilet roll and we ran out! Food at the function was average, although the cake was dry.

User

Food wasnā€™t nice at all, no choice of veg, no yourshire and potatoes tasted like theyā€™d been microwaved. Puddings came with no ice cream or custard. Good pint: Waitress Bernadette was fantastic and so were the ladies in the booking team

User

Couldnā€™t believe it when I checked in and was told the hotelā€™s key card system was broken, so Iā€™d have to be accompanied to my room every time I wanted to get in. This has obviously happened before reading the reviews. No chance of an early Monday night either, with a school prom in full swing and gangs of over-excited teenagers rampaging around the gardens outside my ground floor room. No air con either, so itā€™s sweltering in my room. Wish Iā€™d stayed in the Travelodge down the road and thatā€™s saying something!

User

This was the worst experience ever. Food was awful! I found mould on my desert. The rooms looked scruffy for the hotels supposed 4 stars. I was unable to park on 3 occasions and was told that the spaces were being used for an Indian wedding and that was more important which then led to loud noise continuing well into the night. There was no help with porterage even though it was paid for by my company and the attitude of most of the staff was, 'that'll do'

User

Paid for a 3 course meal soup was burnt chicken was dry potatoes was cooked hours before and reheated the seasonal vegetables was a load of slop my husband had the fish with looked like it came out of a tin with a dolp of tomatoes sauce on it rubbery potatoes and the same slop of vegetables awful. Dessert was a disaster lemon tart that was shop bought and a spoon of extra thick double cream will never eat there again
