This Saturday you have a chance to hear this amazing choir of refugees and asylum seekers from around the world. Please go and support them and the brilliant PramDepot - they organised the Spotlight on Asylum festival that this event is a part of. Get your tickets now!

Our friends at the inspiring St Ann's Redevelopment Trust are recruiting. We are proud members of StART, too 🙂. Please spread the word!

The kindness of strangers: at least 3 among the 40 people who attended our session today came with a stranger who saw them in distress and brought to us for advice and help

Our colleagues Lynne and Jude attended this meeting at the House Commons yesterday. They attended with 3 visitors whose cases we've known about for some time, 1 visitor who requested our urgent support outside of drop in hours and a new visitor who they literally picked up on the way! We do not know how many people are affected and it's likely we will hear about more. These cases are new to the general public but have affected Windrush generation citizens - British citizens -... for years - sometimes decades. In our visitors' cases they have suffered homelessness, loss of agency in society, poor health, the breakdown of family relationships and degradation. They told us how they fear the police and authorities - even registration at a GP seems too much of a risk. They fear being picked up and detained. This is nothing new for them. They were buoyed yesterday by meeting others who had similar stories and who are on the way to resolving matters. We will try to ensure that their cases are also resolved and that they receive the compensation they are owed.

Yes, it's today! We've got a team of walkers aiming to raise money for HMSC on the London Legal Walk from 5pm today, Monday 21 May. Please can you donate and/or forward/share this with everyone you know in case they're able to donate? It's our biggest fundraising event of the year. The money we get though this route is vital for us helping those visitors who have no other access to funds or advice.

Our biggest annual sponsorship event is the London Legal Walk in May, and we'll be fielding a team again this year, so watch this space for info about that. In the meantime, my son Dafydd is running for us in the Hackney Half Marathon. Please sponsor him if you can, and/or forward this to anyone who might be able to. Thanks. Love from Ceri Williams
