Just a shot across the bow now my Magpies.
I will be off from next Wednesday the 15th until the 28th/29th of the month after the Bank Holiday.
It is my first holiday break since last Christmas and will be my last until this Christmas too.... It is in actual fact the first family holiday in my kids whole lives where we will be getting away from home for a whole week, and this is all down to one of my most amazing Magpies for lending the H.G family their holiday apartment in Cornwall. Before now we have only managed a three nights away type holiday, so we are all looking forward to this very much.
I will be setting up posts for the whole time I am away but will try to not be on the page at all for the duration (ha, I will try but...)
All I ask is that I receive zero inbox type messages for that period, I think I have earnt the break from work don't you? I am sure your inquiry will be able to wait until my return at the end of the month. What would You make from this stone?
Today my dear Magpies, I have this stunning certificated Natural Peach Sapphire and I'm not entirely sure what to do with her....?
She is a 2.84ct Asscher-cut (Octagon) and measures 8.3 x 8.1mm.
... I know what I 'could' do with her, which involves melting down the only remaining Damask Rose Gold I have (currently in the form of a set of numbered and engraved wedding bands) and using that to create a luscious vintage piece.
But is that the right thing to do? 🤷

What would be your simple single stone combination?
What shape stone would you choose? What stone (diamond or other) Would you mix your metals or opt for one metal for all of the ring? How about the shank itself? Would it be plain or diamond set? If it were set with diamonds, do you think you would have the more traditional Pave type setting or something more modern like the Fishtail I do?... And style...where would you go with the style of the ring? Uber modern, with stark clean chunky lines or perhaps something more comfortable and traditional.......?

Sunday afternoon in the garden at H.G towers, under the huge canopy of our ginormous wisteria, nomming a beautiful blackberry and apple cake made by my 13 year old daughter. It had a baked crumble and toasted almond top! And boy was it good!
She's quite the genius at everything she touches.
The two kids even caught the blackberries from the wild while out on a bike ride during the week.!
... Tea, home made cake, family, and lots of shade. It's a surprise I managed to tear myself away to come to work today.

I get to go off my normal course occasionally, to create some deliciously Gothic or unusual looking pieces... . This Large Garnet and black diamond combination was one such occasion for one of the Magpies otherwise known as my Lady Wolverine this 'Dita' ring (named after Dita Von Tease) was a real winner and appealed to her inner dark diva very much. . It was a deeply sexy piece, almost vixen like. One of those girl power type rings that I can only imagine would be like s...lipping on your best party gear, going out to dance the night away in a top club with the girls and feeling damn good all night long without getting hit on or bothered by the boys. This particular Magpie channels Jean Gray (the hot Red in X-Men) as her alt anyway, so she has the whole power thing down pat. The ring was literally the cherry on an already well iced cake. .. I was/am in awe!
But what do the rest of you think of this kind of unusual piece?
Do you have a Dark Side, or do you tend to play it safe? . . . . Well today's coffee morning was good fun, lots of natter and sparkles, plus cake. This afternoon was busy too with a brand new Magpie came in to begin the early stages of her first H.G commission. Exciting times ahead for her and I on this her first journey at my bench. Watch this space for the piece at some point! Stone sourcing to do first though. :-) . Long night ahead after the whole day away from my bench. A bit of catching up to do , so I imagine a round a 3am finish this night! Not before a bit of food and a 30 minute power nap on the H.G Sofa. :-) . Hope you all have a lovely weekend and that this continuous heat has not left you too exhausted.

Please be careful in the Sun. The UV out there is very high, I knew this from one of the diamonds I have in the workshop. It was presenting it's fluorescence more than it should in normal natural daylight conditions, which means the damaging stuff out there is very high! So be extra safe with small children and yourself with sensible over use of sun screen please!

I don't know about you but I can't get enough of these Blue Diamonds.
The deep Oceanic blue of this one was countered with the Halo, Collar, and Shoulders set with my collection grade white diamonds...All of which was set into a real classic, hand made, platinum, H G Button-back.
But what do my Magpies think ?

These beauties are the remains of a parcel acquired for a particular Magpie.
She has picked the two stones that spoke to her the most and these now can be shown to the rest of my Magpies.
The video starts at the Cherry Red Fire Opal, continues with a darker coloured Aqua and two lighter hued Aquas, finally there are two London Blue Topaz; one dark, one lighter more lively one, the first of them being the dark one.

When I saw the blue heart diamond being shown on the facebook page I knew it had to be mine, my birthstone is diamond and blue my favourite colour. Today I collected my beautiful 'Flower of the Evening' Tanzanite pendant that HG has lovingly made for me. It has been a pleasure to work with him from buying the original stone, to visiting him at his workshop to work on the design , to finally collecting such a beautifully realised piece of jewellery. I got my beautiful Tanzanite earrings yesterday. The signed delivery is fantastic way to receive expensive commissioned items if you aren't able to get them in person.

The quality of the stones are just beautiful, also the length of the bit that goes through your ear is a little longer than most and much better, so I won't loose the butterfly.
