About Hazev Restaurant

Our name derives from the Turkish words 'haz' meaning ‘enjoyment’ and ‘ev’ meaning ‘home’, and in creating ‘HAZEV’. Our stunning venue combines a stylish bar, elegant restaurant, cafe and deli – thus allowing us to cater for any occasion.

Hazev Restaurant Description

ABOUT US
Located on the waterfront, Hazev offers an oasis of Anatolian cuisine at its finest in the heart of the financial district.
The stunning venue combines a stylish bar, elegant restaurant and an inviting, quick-serve café and deli – thus allowing us to cater for any occasion. And with the versatility to provide complete venue hire, private dining and a collection /delivery* service, Hazev simply invites you to enjoy. . .
Hazev is the first collaboration between the ‘Tas’ Restaurant Group and the ‘Haz’ Restaurant Group, who between them control 10 restaurants within Central London. As such, we adhere to the same set of principles that has already made these groups so successful and draw from a wealth of experience that has been accumulated over the last decade.
Our name derives from the Turkish words ‘haz’- meaning ‘enjoyment’ – and ‘ev’ – meaning ‘home’, and in creating ‘hazev’ we hope to provide our guests with a dining experience infused with the comfort and indulgence associated with both.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is simple and assumes a threefold approach.
First and foremost, we aim to offer our guests a taste of Anatolian cuisine at its finest, and to this end we ensure that all of our dishes are prepared daily using the freshest of ingredients, many of which are organic, and only the purest of extra virgin olive oil.
As important as the food we prepare is the setting in which it is served. We see ourselves as a haven of calm in the heart of the busy financial district and try to emulate within our restaurant the air of tranquillity that is already realised by our waterfront location.
Finally, we recognise that fine dining requires the highest standards of service. We strive to offer an unparalleled level, taking care that all of our carefully selected staff maintain our core principles of hospitality, attentiveness and professionalism.
By holding on to the philosophy we value so highly, we fulfil the passion that lies beneath all we do: the passion to provide our guests with a dining experience second to none.

HEAD CHEF
Onder Sahan, CEO of the Tas Restaurant Group, opened his first restaurant on The Cut in 1999. His passion for food was apparent from the outset and his varied dishes and distinctive recipes were instantaneously greeted by excellent reviews.
In the last 11 years, he has opened the doors to a further seven venues throughout Central London, all of which have maintained the same high standards and been met with similar enthusiasm. Hazev is the most recent addition to the group.
Over a career spanning 20 years, Sahan has developed a unique style of his own. The meals remain true to their Turkish origins, however they are lighter, more modern versions of the rich cuisine that the country is renowned for. Fresh seasonal ingredients, distinct aromatic spices and harmonious flavours are his trademarks, with all of his dishes impeccably cooked and beautifully presented.
Throughout this time, he has maintained his passion for cooking and has received a variety of accolades along the way. Sahan has been the head chef and co-owner of Hazev since its opening in 2009 and, with a highly qualified team behind him, continues to excel.

Check out the video below of a group of 15 Panamanian students, who studied at Docklands Academy London for an intensive English Study Programme. They returned to Panama with many wonderful memories and as usual they had the ceremony day in our restaurant.

Amazing place to go lovely food and friendly staff

Really enjoyed our meal here at lunch for Easter Monday. Waiters were very attentive and found the whole meal flowed very smoothly, we were not waiting very long between courses and drinks were out immediately! Ordered a range of starters, the garlic king prawns were beautiful! They also provided complimentary side dishes plus bread, hummus & salad. I can recommend the Mixed Grill for main - the meat was prepared really well and was so lovely and juicy! Baklava and Sutlac for dessert and again, both thoroughly enjoyed! Of course Turkish tea at the end of the meal is a must! Only reason I didn't give 5* is because I felt the portions perhaps were a little small in comparison to other Turkish restaurants - although we definitely didn't leave hungry but we did finish the lot. Would thoroughly recommend

This restaurant is in a fantastic location and is very attractive inside and out....but when my sister and I ate there yesterday in the early afternoon we were underwhelmed to say the least...

Not because of the food, that was absolutely 5star I haven't had as good in a long time....

The service was atrocious!!

No welcome, no interaction and we waited ages to order, finally having to call someone both times for Main and dessert.... And it wasn't busy.

I didn't like that 12.5% gratuity is automatically added to your bill.

This definitely does not encourage staff to go the extra bit for the customer and this was glaring yesterday.

Hats off to the chefs though.....talent!

Went for a works' Christmas dinner. I realise places cut corner with these set meals but I spend a lot of turkey and the quality of the food was not great. Meze starters were ok, nothing special. Some of mains which were served were cold and sent back. Everything came without rice or bread or any other carbohydrate or starch so I asked for some, otherwise we would have starved. Nowhere in turkey serves any main without a lot of rice potatoes and/bread. Dessert was a joke. Assorted Jacobs cream crackers and ritz biscuits to dip in marmalade with burnt baklava. Coffee and tea were supposed to follow but came for about three of us (party of 12 plus). Service also extremely brusque by one waiter who was obnoxious frankly. I complained to the manager and suddenly we had very decent baklava from the deli attached which begged the question why couldn't we have this the first time round? Tea and coffee came and a free shot of alcohol. Manager was very apologetic and nice but I really wouldn't go here again. It's not proper Turkish food- watery sauces and bland. And any set menu seems to be done on the cheap.

User

To me the food was overpriced. Usually in Turkish resTaurants as soon as you sit down a waiter would take your drinks order and whilst choosing your maincourse warm bread and dips would be on the table. A mixed grill anywhere else would come with rice and/or couscous. This mixed grill was just a few pieces of meat in tomato sauce and rice had to be ordered separately and was quite expensive. The waiters eventually got into gear and we're very charming but seemed a bit lost at times.

User

This is not the place for me. A distinctly average meal at an above average cost (£90 no less for two people ). If you like a small meal on a big plate then this is the gaffe for you.

Indifferent service and lacklustre waiters in a setting so dark you need a torch to see the menu.

It wasn't the worst Turkish meal I've ever had but the worst was from a fly blown corner shop takeaway.

I think the moral of the story is steer clear of poncy places like this and stick to your local high street, it'll be a lot better and cheaper. I won't be going back.

User

The worst meal I've spent so much money on. Grilled Hallumi was nice, everything else including my probably poured from a can beer was bad and paid £66 for very little.

Service charge was a joke considering not only the lack of but also that Turkish restuarants are normally very friendly and customer service orientated, this was not.

Think they're simply living on the location as I've never been so ripped off in a Turkish restaurant,

I'd recommend Efes, North London, anything over this place,

Won't return so at least the only time they will rip me off.

...this is an great restaurant in an amazing riverside location (with outside terrace tables) and the food was top quality - however the staff's indifference to customers lets it down majorly ...we were there for brunch on a saturday - it wasn't even busy but we had to sit ourselves down and go to the main counter to order food (because no waiters could be seen to take our orders in the 10-15 minutes we were sat down) ...it's the first restaurant where i'd be inclined to refuse to pay the 12.5% gratuity that's added to the bill as to me this is not customer service at all ...if the staff were trained to be more welcoming and attentive towards customers it would be 5 stars!

Went Hazev on 18.10.17 and me and my friend got food poisoning. Been here so many times and never been ill. I’m still waiting for the manager to call me back for an explanation on why we got so sick. 😡😡😡

User

Celebrated my birthday there yesterday. One friend ended up being very poorly after their food and was throwing up for 20 minutes after we got home. Two more friends had stomach aches and one was was left seriously bloated. Not a great experience this time round.
