In 1894 the 6th Hedon Treat took place in the school room. 200 children and 70 adults were given a slap up meal which included 25 gallons of soup! 50 meals were also delivered to those unable to make it. All was provided by the Treat Committee and their fund raisers. Hedon community spirit at its best. A very merry Christmas to all from Hedon History Walks. I hope to see you soon to learn more of this fantastic town.

Not things out of a Christmas Cracker but stories from the Hedon Ghost Walk. Soldiers and skeletons, radios. razors and ropes are just some of the gruesome subjects we cover on the Walk. Just come along for the start on Thursday 20th December at 19:30 from Market Hill car park. The walk takes about 2 hours. Wrap up warm and I hope to see you there.

A Ghost walk with a difference, not too many ghosts! But plenty of murder, mystery and mayhem that has gone on around our town to tell you about. No tickets required, just come along to the start. Adults £4.

I'm not sure if a Ghost Walk is quite the thing to get you into the Christmas spirit, maybe more of an antidote! However a wander around our ancient town and hearing tales of the past may make you remember how lucky we are. And there is always an excuse to sample one of Hedon's pubs afterwards. Our next walk is Thursday 20th December. We leave from Market Hill, near the church, at 19:30. You don't need to book just come along for the start. Just £4 for adults. There two hours of ghosts and gruesome goings on that will make you think differently about walking around the town. I hope to see you there

Try Barbershop, it isn't how you may think. Just great acappella singing is 4 part harmony. And I'm singing too. Hope to see you there.

The last Hedon History Walks of the year take place this Sunday. The Town Walk starts from Market Hill at 11:00AM and the Haven Walk starts from Johnson's Corner car park at 2:00PM. Both walks take a little over two hours and are full of stories of people and the places we pass. There is much more to Hedon than you might think. £4, under 16's £2. Sunday is set to be a beautiful day so enjoy a walk with a bit of a talk!

Take a walk in the afternoon, and learn about massive riots, missing bricks and plane crashes as we follow the history of Hedon, and the Haven, on the Haven History Walk that starts from Johnson's Corner car park on Sunday 18th November, at 2:00PM and takes a couple of hours. Parts can be a little muddy after rain. Well behaved dogs welcome. No booking needed, just come along for the start £4, £2 under 16's.

Hedon History Walks Tales of disappearing houses, indestructible crosses and exploding churches are bread and butter on the Hedon Town History Walk on Sunday 18th November. We start at 1100 from Market Hill and the 2 hour walk around the town gives a great insight into the people and places through history. No booking required, just come along for the start. £4, £2 under 16's. Well behaved dogs welcome.

A fantastic photo by Ray Duffill of the new memorial for Hedon. I great turn out for the March and service in the morning and even better for the lighting of the beacon and singing on Market Hill, followed by the concert in St. Augustine's. Very impressed by the readings and especially the words from the religious orators who hit just the right note. A great event and congratulations to all for organising it. Lets hope the joe public can think more of their community this morning.

Something not often seen in Hull, not even during the City of Culture year! Forget American's in boaters, this a cappella at its best from local people. Check out Hull University Barbershop, Humber Maronies and Emerald Guard on You Tube to see what I mean. For tickets go to www.humberharmony.co.uk upcoming events. Saturday 8th December at Middleton Hall, University of Hull.

Thanks to all those that came on the Hedon Ghost Walk on Halloween. If you missed it the next one will be Thursday 15th November.
On the walk several folk were asking about the Remembrance Sunday Ceremonies please see the Hedon Blog for details. https://hu12.online/…/hedon-remembers-c entenary-memorial-e…/

I'm getting excited about the Hedon Ghost Walk tonight. It starts from Market Hill at 7:30PM and takes about 2 and a half hours. Just come along at the start to join in £4 per person. Hope to see you there. Wrap up warmly.

On the Hedon Ghost Walk Wednesday night, 7:30PM from Market Hill car park (up by the church) it sounds as though the weather is going to be dry and a little warmer than of late. However dress up warmly as there are stops for stories and I only want you shivering with fright, rather than with the cold. Just come along at the start, no booking needed. £4 and the walk will take about 2.5 hours. Hope to see you there.

Haloween is on Wednesday, and so is the first Hedon Ghost Walk of the season. Ghost stories are mixed with true life events that have happened in our own streets and houses. 100 years after the end of WWI you will hear a few terrible stories of how this affected those still here in Hedon, rather than France or Flanders, plus much murder, mystery and mayhem. We meet at Market Hill car park at 7:30PM. No tickets required, just come along for the start. £4. Come along if you dare. Come along if you dare.

We did the Haven walk, which tells you about where the haven ran before the big drains were dug in the 1800s and the trading that made Hedon the exist. Very knowledgeable guy. We really enjoyed it thanks
