Went for valentines meal with my husband and as usual the food was amazing

Well what can I say ? Superb venue, service, food outstanding!!! Large venue and extremely busy but felt our table was the only one � never had to wait for any attention to service and always greeted with a smile � will definitely be back cannot wait thankyou to all fabulous night ����

There was 6 of us there on sat night ....mad night food was great will defo come bk �

There are loads of really good places to eat in Hitchin yet I keep coming back to the Herm. It might be a little expensive but you better believe it’s worth it!

The food is absolutely fantastic, I was a bit iffy about coming if I’m honest because the menu is very out there for what I’m used to.



The staff are very friendly and smiley and they all seem to try and make the best effort to make sure your meals going well.

Roasted peach and halloumi Starter genuinely one of the best things I've ever eaten, pork belly wasn't bad either. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful, great wine list, amazing passion fruit mojitos... lovely way to spend three hours on a Saturday night �

Really lovely Sunday lunch, beautifuly cooked - but chargeing £1.50 for a thimble of Elderflower cordial is frankly ridiculous don't you think?

Will not stop us coming again however 👍

Had an amazing time at my friend's birthday dinner thanks especially to the outstanding service of Georgia. Best waitress in Hitchin! She was extremely helpful at all times, always with a smile on her face and a clever sense of humour. Thank you Georgia for such a great night! By the way, the food was also very nice! �

Booked over the phone with Tara she was very organized and polite. Arrived at 12 and was greeted by Michael he showed us to our table was very welcoming very polite and professional � It was my ninth anniversary the food was exceptional the belly pork was amazing so was the flat iron steak which my wife chose. We then had a fantastic dessert which they put happy anniversary on the plate with a nice sparkler. The cocktails were also very tasty. Would definitely recommend 5*. Thank you so much we definitely going back again !! �

Generally a good restaurant - albeit a little pricey! Particularly enjoyable for a family occasion or special event. The Herm is a nice place to go for drinks too, again it’s a bit pricey and can be loud at times, but that is what you pay for a good atmosphere.

Nice place overall... beware of the specials - they don't tell you the price of them so make sure you ask - we made this mistake and got charged £55 for a main course!!

I have to be fair that The Hermitage is one of our favourite places and always is exceptional, but something went wrong on our visit on Tuesday night. My steak was like leather, I did send it back and it was slightly better when it returned by that time I'd lost interest in eating it. The mushrooms I ordered were very strong and seemed to have lots of almost gritty bits in them. As for the service, way too slow, I almost felt like we'd been forgotten. We sat with our dirty plates in front of us for far too long, despite our waiter walking passed us on many occasions, and the icecream my daughter ordered took nearly 20 minutes to arrive. Won't stop us going just incredibly disappointed for an an evening I was looking forward to spending with my youngest. The Hermitage is not the cheapest and they charge for literally everything but never mind paying for good food and good service but this was not the case for Tuesday 😞

Attended for breakfast today with friends. They wanted to take us somewhere nice for breakfast as we are visiting. Have to say we were very disappointed. Our meals arrived in three parts. There were only 6 of us and the final breakfast arrived after everyone else had eaten. The toast bar wasn’t kept stocked and the tea and coffee removed, despite us only just getting or still waiting on our breakfast.

My breakfast was dry as though it had been made for some time and left under the lamps. There were plenty of staff and not many tables filled. Can’t say I’d want to eat again.

£2.50 for a cup of hot water and a tiny tea bag . Nice cafe ,not nice price .

Went for Father’s Day meal and from the offset was poor. Booking time had been changed without our knowledge, staff have a superiority complex issue and could barely crack a smile. Daughters food order was “missed” then couldn’t be eaten as it arrived lava hot so our 2 year old sat watching us eat until food was cool enough. Terrible service and the food is average at best given the extortionate pricing, no apology and no compensation offered for the bad service. £77 for a meal that wasn’t worth £20, didn’t even have alcohol. Been here twice now and a 3 year gap between visits and both times was rubbish.



Hitchin restaurants are becoming complacent with their big fish in a small pond attitude.



Will not go back or recommend.

Very disappointing visit. Sunday night out,, advertised £5.00 cocktails. Tried to order at 7.10 to be told i have to wait till the music starts. At 7.20, music starts and I told not yet, ill be told when. Very arrogant staff, rude, seem to have lost the ability to value a customer. Also when i ordered my drink, i was just given an alternative brand and told it was a premium. They didnt even have the decency to ask me. Very cocky and disrespectful, as always the alternative brand does not taste the same, then filled it to the top with mixer.

Maybe little things , but the arrogance overshadowed what should have been a nice evening out.

Disgusting Chef and Waiter I made it Clear on Entry Im Gluten Free To be served contaminated Food Which made me so dam ill within minutes .. Avoid this place as I really really really would Not recommend



It was not even busy lunchtime to have this disgusting attitude not to care about paying Customers . Please read and take not Do not eat here unless you want to be really really really ill .

Went for valentines meal with my husband and as usual the food was amazing

Well what can I say ? Superb venue, service, food outstanding!!! Large venue and extremely busy but felt our table was the only one � never had to wait for any attention to service and always greeted with a smile � will definitely be back cannot wait thankyou to all fabulous night ����

There are loads of really good places to eat in Hitchin yet I keep coming back to the Herm. It might be a little expensive but you better believe it’s worth it!

The food is absolutely fantastic, I was a bit iffy about coming if I’m honest because the menu is very out there for what I’m used to.



The staff are very friendly and smiley and they all seem to try and make the best effort to make sure your meals going well.

Roasted peach and halloumi Starter genuinely one of the best things I've ever eaten, pork belly wasn't bad either. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful, great wine list, amazing passion fruit mojitos... lovely way to spend three hours on a Saturday night �

Really lovely Sunday lunch, beautifuly cooked - but chargeing £1.50 for a thimble of Elderflower cordial is frankly ridiculous don't you think?

Will not stop us coming again however 👍

Great lunch for my son and I. We arrived at 1:50 and escorted to a table of our choice. Our waiter was charm and smiles personified. The service was efficient and caring. Our food delicious as expected.

Booked over the phone with Tara she was very organized and polite. Arrived at 12 and was greeted by Michael he showed us to our table was very welcoming very polite and professional � It was my ninth anniversary the food was exceptional the belly pork was amazing so was the flat iron steak which my wife chose. We then had a fantastic dessert which they put happy anniversary on the plate with a nice sparkler. The cocktails were also very tasty. Would definitely recommend 5*. Thank you so much we definitely going back again !! �

Good food but your loyalty program is nothing but a joke. If that's how you treat your loyal customers I'd like to see how you treat your visitors. We topped up our card and still paid the same. Sad face

Generally a good restaurant - albeit a little pricey! Particularly enjoyable for a family occasion or special event. The Herm is a nice place to go for drinks too, again it’s a bit pricey and can be loud at times, but that is what you pay for a good atmosphere.

Nice place overall... beware of the specials - they don't tell you the price of them so make sure you ask - we made this mistake and got charged £55 for a main course!!

I have to be fair that The Hermitage is one of our favourite places and always is exceptional, but something went wrong on our visit on Tuesday night. My steak was like leather, I did send it back and it was slightly better when it returned by that time I'd lost interest in eating it. The mushrooms I ordered were very strong and seemed to have lots of almost gritty bits in them. As for the service, way too slow, I almost felt like we'd been forgotten. We sat with our dirty plates in front of us for far too long, despite our waiter walking passed us on many occasions, and the icecream my daughter ordered took nearly 20 minutes to arrive. Won't stop us going just incredibly disappointed for an an evening I was looking forward to spending with my youngest. The Hermitage is not the cheapest and they charge for literally everything but never mind paying for good food and good service but this was not the case for Tuesday 😞

Attended for breakfast today with friends. They wanted to take us somewhere nice for breakfast as we are visiting. Have to say we were very disappointed. Our meals arrived in three parts. There were only 6 of us and the final breakfast arrived after everyone else had eaten. The toast bar wasn’t kept stocked and the tea and coffee removed, despite us only just getting or still waiting on our breakfast.

My breakfast was dry as though it had been made for some time and left under the lamps. There were plenty of staff and not many tables filled. Can’t say I’d want to eat again.

£2.50 for a cup of hot water and a tiny tea bag . Nice cafe ,not nice price .

Went for Father’s Day meal and from the offset was poor. Booking time had been changed without our knowledge, staff have a superiority complex issue and could barely crack a smile. Daughters food order was “missed” then couldn’t be eaten as it arrived lava hot so our 2 year old sat watching us eat until food was cool enough. Terrible service and the food is average at best given the extortionate pricing, no apology and no compensation offered for the bad service. £77 for a meal that wasn’t worth £20, didn’t even have alcohol. Been here twice now and a 3 year gap between visits and both times was rubbish.



Hitchin restaurants are becoming complacent with their big fish in a small pond attitude.

Very disappointing visit. Sunday night out,, advertised £5.00 cocktails. Tried to order at 7.10 to be told i have to wait till the music starts. At 7.20, music starts and I told not yet, ill be told when. Very arrogant staff, rude, seem to have lost the ability to value a customer. Also when i ordered my drink, i was just given an alternative brand and told it was a premium. They didnt even have the decency to ask me. Very cocky and disrespectful, as always the alternative brand does not taste the same, then filled it to the top with mixer.
