Hm Coastguard - Bexhill

To enhance our skills and to promote inter-agency working, our officers, along with colleagues from Hastings Coastguard Rescue team, Eastbourne Coastguard and Selsey Coastguard, have been learning new search techniques today. This is an initial qualification for some whilst others will go on to become Specialist Search Technicians and Specialist Search Team Leaders.

‼️📟‼️ 22-09-18 12:15 - Our officers were tasked to assist colleagues from Eastbourne Coastguard with an incident in the Eastbourne Area.
Remember, in an emergency or if you spot someone in difficulty at Sea or on the Coast - DIAL 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.

‼️📟‼️ 15-09-18 13:58 - Along with East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service our officers were tasked to a report of a young person having slipped over the cliff edge at Bexhill.
Our advice is always to STAY AWAY from cliff edges, not only is there a potential to slip and fall, some cliffs are unstable and prone to collapse.

‼️📟‼️ 13-09-18 14:51 - Our Officers were tasked to assist colleagues from Eastbourne Coastguard with an incident near to Eastbourne Pier.

‼️📟‼️ 13-09-18 08:58 - Following reports from the Hastings Borough Council Coastal Officer, we were tasked to investigate an abandoned RIB on the beach.
If you see something that doesn’t look right, or if you spot someone that maybe in difficulty at Sea or on the Coast- DIAL 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.

‼️📟‼️ 12-09-18 07:13 - Our Officers were tasked to assist colleagues from Eastbourne Coastguard with an incident in the Eastbourne area.

‼️📟‼️ 14:36 25/08/18 - Our officers were tasked to reports of 2 people who were potentially in difficultly in a small inflatable dingy out at sea. We were quickly on scene and due to the change in weather conditions we requested the assistance from Hastings Inshore Lifeboat who on arrival spoke to those concerned and gave suitable safety advice.
If you are out at sea make sure you have a mobile phone or VHF radio with you and remember your life jackets, they really do save lives!

‼️📟‼️ 14:24 11/08/18 - Our Officers along with colleagues from Newhaven and Birling Gap were tasked to support Eastbourne Coastguard with several incidents in the Eastbourne Area. Support was also provided by Rescue 163, our Rescue Helicopter based at Lydd, RNLI Eastbourne and Sussex Police

‼️📟‼️ 02:42 30/07/18 - The National Maritime Operations Centre received reports via 999 of objects and a flashing light in the water near Channel View to which our officers were tasked to investigate.
If you spot something that doesn’t look right or if you believe someone maybe in difficulty - DIAL 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.
Never think you are wasting our time, we will always follow up on reports and conduct investigations.

‼️📟‼️ 02:49 19/07/18 - Our Officers we’re tasked to assist Sussex Police in searching for a missing person who was last seen in the area near to Eastbourne Pier. Having conducted a search of the area the person was found safe and taken into the care of the Police.
Report all incidents where people maybe in difficulty or missing at the coast - DIAL 999 and ask for the COASTGUARD.

‼️📟‼️ 15:53 28/07/18 - Our Officers were tasked to assist colleagues from Hastings Coastguard Rescue team and HM Coastguard Rye Bay to reports of a walker having fallen within Hastings Country Park sustaining injuries. Our officers provided first aid and care before extracting the casualty and transporting them to the local hospital for further treatment.

‼️📟‼️ 11:08 28/07/18 - Our Officers we’re tasked to reports of a strange object in the water near to Ravenside Retail Park. Upon investigation they identified that the item was in fact a speed limit bouy.
We will always follow up reports to ensure no one is in any danger.

Two members of our team, along with a colleague from Hastings Coastguard Rescue team spent the day at the Coastguard Operations & Control Centre undertaking their “Officer in Charge” training. Having successfully completed this part of the training, they will now have a 6 month probationary period to complete with various assessments being undertaken on them before being fully qualified to fulfil this role for 3 years.

Exciting news for our friends at RNLI Hastings Lifeboat Station. Their new Shannon class all weather boat will be arriving soon. 😃

‼️📟‼️ 18:39 12/07/18 - Our officers were tasked to investigate reports of young people, at sea, in small inflatable dingy’s. They were quickly on scene and asked them to come ashore where suitable safety advice was given.
Inflatables are best left at home, with currents and offshore winds you can soon find yourself being taken away from the safety of the shore.
