About Homerton Hospital

We are a Foundation Trust hospital serving the residents of Hackney and Homerton providing acute, specialist and community services

Homerton Hospital Description

Based in the London Borough of Hackney, we provide general health services at hospital and in the community with staff working out of 75 different sites. The hospital has almost 500 beds spread across 11 wards, a 9-bed intensive care unit and maternity, paediatric and neonatal wards.
We have three day-surgery theatres and six main operating theatres for all types of general surgery, trauma and orthopaedics, gynaecology, maxio-facial, urology, ENT, obesity, bariatric and obstetrics. We also have a surgical treatment room within the main theatres complex.
We offer a range of specialist care in obstetrics and neonatology, fetal medicine, fertility, HIV and sexual health, asthma and allergies, keyhole and bariatric surgery and neuro-rehabilitation across east London and beyond.
As a Foundation Trust we are accountable to local people who can become members and governors. We have a duty to consult and involve a Board of Governors drawn from patients, staff, membership and partner organisations in our strategic planning.
We have earned a reputation for the quality of training offered and are recognised as one of the top recruiters to high quality research studies in the UK with particular interest in neonatal, sexual health and respiratory medicine. We are also recognised as innovators in embracing methods and systems that promise better and safer patient care.
All of these factors figured when the Chief Inspector of Hospitals Sir Mike Richards said “More trusts need to be like Homerton”.

My daughter has been seen at the starlight unit since we was 18 months old. Today, just shortly after her 8th birthday she is being discharged and we just want to say a massive thank you to the staff that followed her through the years. Everyone has been very professional, caring and patient. Children and concerned mummys might not be the best patients but we've always got none less than 5 star treatment every time. Thank you so much for everything

User

I was admitted to Homerton on Friday morning after experiencing bad labour pains. Thankfully with the amazing support of the members of staff on the labour ward and those who looked after me in the Turpin Suite everything turned out ok and baby stayed put. I found everyone very hard working, dedicated and gave me complete faith in the care / treatments they were giving me. My care was superb and albeit short I had a pleasant stay.

User

I arrived at A & E with a badly broken wrist. I got terrific treatment there from everyone, and after just one day back at home I was called in for surgery. Excellent treatment again from nurses, doctors, anaesthetists....Thanks so much to this fine hospital for looking after me so well. Hurrah for the NHS!

User

Every visit if great, doctors and nurses are always kind friendly and excellent at what they are there for.

Yesterday I had a panic attack and the receptionist in outpatients 2 was very kind and caring.

User

User

Very good and clean hospital. Very polite staff and a good service. In the end of the day I'm very happy with surgery! The only thing you need to wait for a pain killers for a long time.

User

Having just got home after 8 days in Homerton Hospital, I want to especially praise the nurses there. They are amazing. They work so hard yet no-one gets forgotten and they always remember every patient's treatment, what you are going through and what is going to happen. They check on you frequently and nothing is too trivial.

Thanks nursing staff Homerton Hospital

User

A&e staff are fantastic helpful an good but the wait is far toooo long! Reception staff are also rude an unsympathetic which is a real shame, doctors Wrk very hard in a&e no breaks either very stressed too x

User

Just spent 48hours in homerton and feel so sorry for the staff because they have to deal with a lot of really hard situations and patients who show no respect. Which I think let's the service down(no fault towards the staff at all) I was very annoyed it took 3 hours just for them to discharge me but I'm out now so all is good

User

Apart from the unfathomable system the X-ray department uses to determine the next patient I suppose it's not too bad.

I did appear to arrive at the Picton Suite at the right time as I only waited five minutes for my bloods to be taken unlike in the X-ray department whereby it was more like over an hour and five minutes.

Note to self...check in at X-ray and go get bloods taken while waiting.

User

Parking was a nightmare you have to look around the streets for a parking meter cost £7.80 for 3 hours if you are lucky enough to find any. Actual clinic was good on time and very pleasant.

User

It's so interesting that hospitals go on and on about eating the right food, yet right in front of you as soon as you enter the hospital the only place to get a drink is Costa, and if your peckish, a very wide range of very Sweet cakes and high calorie Bread products, however this time after seeing the doctor I went looking for the Restaurant, after some time I found it, luckily I bumped into the doctor I had just seen and he pointed me in the right direction, I was so dissapointed when I finally found this RESTAURANT.

It was nothing more than a Sandwich Bar full of everything the Doctor had just told me NOT TO EAT.

User

Had the worst phlebotomist ever. She poked around in my antecubital area on my right arm causing a huge bruise and large lump to the medial side . I am in horrible pain from this. I have gone to this hospital for the past 10 years every 6 weeks for bloods - never have I had such an experience . I myself am a medical professional and feel this should never of happened .

User

Very disappointed with Homerton Hospital.

It took one year and a half to update my 3yrs old son with a case of anaphylaxis, severe nuts allergy, seeds, egg, some fruits...) this is life threaten :(

· One year and a half to update his records

· One year and a half carrying a fake, practice Epi Pen that was given at Homerton Hospital to my son carry all times

· A letter with an appointment for the 24 August was sent home, then next day another letter sent cancelling the 24th to the 13th September, then after the 24th we receive a letter saying; my son was discharged for failing the appointment. I called them, the guy on the phone, was keeping on telling me, I was making him confused about the 13th and to forget the 13th, that I missed the appointment on the 24th and I needed to go back to GP to be refered again. Was actually then at GP, that we find out from the GP doctor that, that wasn't a EpiPen, that was a Practice EpiPen. Then again, we received another letter, kind of blaming us, saying they tried to contact us parents, but they couldn't reach us so my son was discharged . This is ridiculous, seriously !!!!!!!

I gave birth to my 2 kids there and they seem to be a great hospital, but I guess I was just kind thinking and blinded !

Very disappointed!

I hate complaining, I think everyone does mistakes but, this are to many mistakes in one little person case :(
