commune Cinema returns to House of Vans this July with an exclusive screening of award winning & critically acclaimed documentary Studio 54.
Studio 54 was the epicenter of 70s hedonism - a place that not only redifined the nightclub, but also came to symbolize an entire era. Its co-owners, Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, two friends from Brooklyn, seemed to come out of nowhere to suddenly preside over a new kind of New York society. Now, 39 years after the velvet rope was firs...t slung across the club's hallowed threshold, a feature documentary tells the real story behind the greatest club of all time.
Following the screening, commune host a Q&A and music. Stay tuned for more details.
The screening will be hosted in our 100-seat cinema space. A very limited number of walk-in tickets will be available on the day, on a first come, first served basis. The event is free with booking required.

The crème of Europe's skateboarding scene descended upon House of Vans on Friday night to celebrate the global launch of the new TNT signature shoe and put skills to test on a custom built, 80s inspired launch ramp in our big tunnel. Here's what went down.

Went to visit this place yesterday - brilliant venue, really cool people and vibes, brought back a lot of nostalgic memories of art/skating on the South Bank! рЯШО Hope this place goes from strength to strength, it's pretty amazing! рЯСНрЯШК

Went to a free gig here to see 'This Will Destroy You', and it was honestly one of the most amazing gigs of my life! The venue was excellent, and definitely catered to a lot of different people.



There was great food being served all night, which you don't get in a lot of gig venues. There were also a few bars serving alcohol (which was a little overpriced, but hey, you're in London so it's to be expected!).



There was also a cool display of retro / vintage music gear, which was awesome to look around as we waited for the band to come on stage. We heard three warm up acts which was pretty cool, fun to listen to some new stuff while we waited for the main act. I didn't even mind how bloody loud it was, it was fantastic to feel the bass from This Will Destroy You literally in my bones.



I absolutely LOVED the free photo booth and had lots of fun posing for pictures like a total doofus with my friends!



I still can't believe entry was FREE!!!! Absolutely amazing <3 Will definitely be keeping an eye out for more gigs in the future.

We had our eleven year old's birthday party here. Great - free - skateboarding lesson with Steve who got real beginners going down the ramp. Fab food at the café - venue staff super helpful and the venue itself is incredibly cool. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Superb multi-use space in atmospheric surroundings in central London; went to see the Assembly Chopper Show, absolutely brilliant event in the very best urban venue.

I'll definitely be back for further events.

Fantastic venue, saw volbeat earlier tonight and was super impressed. The sound quality was outstanding. For a show thats so loud you lost none of the quality. The staff were cheery and helpful and the drinks were reasonable.

Awesome afternoon, well worth the trip down, lovely staff, great art, brilliant building.

Amazing customer experience at House of Vans on Saturday - my 4 year old was too young for the skate lesson so the lovely front of house lady put on a film in the cinema room especially for us! One of those rare London moments when someone really goes above and beyond to make your day a great one. Thank you, and sorry I didn't get the lady's name to highlight her great customer service - stellar member of staff! x

Typically when an exhibition or event is advertised as being open during a set period of time, and I turn up at the event location within that time, I expect that the exhibition/event will, you know, actually be on. So imagine my surprise when I trekked out to house of vans during 10 may - 3 june, the advertised duration of the palm photo prize show, only to be told by a very unhelpful and seemingly clueless girl at the front desk that the palm photo exhibition had finished. Despite being widely advertised as going for another 3 days.

Turned up for a gig, after 45 minutes was told it was one in, one out. The staff didnвАЩt really know what was going on and kept blaming different internal staff for the issues. Such a shame as I was looking forward to seeing the venue, got a great view of the graffiti tunnel instead.
