As it is always a good idea to know who you are dealing with we thought you may like to know a little about us.

Howe & Spender is an amalgamation of two well established Legal firms. In 1995 John Spender & Co merged with Howe Walsh & Ambrose, and although we can trace our origins back to 1895, we are more interested in the present than the past.

We are the only firm to serve our clients from offices in both Neath and Port Talbot.

Being the first firm in Neath and Port Talbot (and one of the first in Wales) to be awarded a Franchise Quality Mark by the Legal Services Commission we have gone from strength to strength in our provision of publicly funded work.

At the same time our private client departments have expanded significantly due to our commitment to providing a friendly, quality service to business and individual clients.

We are a practice built on a foundation of sound, sensible and independent legal advice of the highest standard provided by expert Lawyers and a highly trained and dedicated support staff.

As part of the Legal Services Commission policy to ensure quality in all aspects of legal services delivered under the Legal Aid Quality Mark scheme, all firms are required to submit files for an in-depth audit known as "Peer Review". The Reviewers will then award a score from Excellence (1) to Failure in Performance (5).

As an indication of how we strive to offer an excellence of service to all our clients the Legal Services Commission have awarded us a Competence Plus (2) rating following Peer Reviews in the publicly funded areas of Criminal Law and Family Law. We believe we are one of the few firms in the Country to have scored so highly in all areas of publicly funded work undertaken.

Having invested significantly for many years in up to date technology we offer a modern approach to the provision of legal services.
